I'm a Racing supporter here in Argentina, we love this guy almost like nobody else. He was key for the league title in 2001, our club never achieved anything else after he left not even qualify for international cups, and then in 2014 when he came back we won the league again after 13 years (the first title in my lifetime). Simply my favorite player, my hero.
I will never forget his name ... My first champions league final was when he scored against Bayern .. And I was like who is this dude ... But the name stuck with me forever .... Thank you for the amazing video ....
I certainly didn‘t forget that Milito was crucial in winning the treble for Inter. And he was such a humble person! Grazie Diego! PS: you should do a video on Esteban “el cuchu“ Cambiasso. A massively underrated midfielder who never stood in the limelight, a quiet player. Only when he didn’t play it became clear, how important his presence for the team actually was.
He didn’t really disappear, the 2nd season he was in Inter he was injured and missed a lot of games. the 3rd season he was only second in terms of score to Ibrahimovic in Serie A with 24 goals at the age of 32. The season after he was injured again. Injuries sadly just hinder lots of players:(
He was banging in goals for years at Genoa, Zaragoza back at Genoa and then Inter! for those who followed him always! He never played much for Argentina due to the massive amount of talent they had up front at the time until maybe 2008-2010
Thank you for reminding the football fans and the in depth video essay on why Diego Milito was one of the legend of the football game. A clinical goalscorer and the main reason Inter Milan and Jose Mourinho won the treble, a truly underrated and unsung hero of his day. 👍🏼
Facts 💯 milito was also one of the reason why I won the league on soccermanager when I was younger. Such a reliable goalscorer. Ibra and eto'o got their plaudits but I'm glad others recognise milito's talent 🏆
Fun fact: Milito said that he actually refused Inter at the time of Roberto Mancini, because they had already too many big strikers (Adriano, Ibrahimovic, Crespo, Cruz, Balotelli...) and he thought it wasn't the right time.
Diego Milito was one of the players even as an AC Milan fan, I respected. Him, Julio Cesar, Sneijder and Maicon were the beast. In 2010, the biggest snub wasn't Sneijder not winning, it was him not being nominated.
Associated with Diego Milito: Guarin Julio Cesar Wesley Schneider Javier Zanetti Cambiasso Stankovic Maicon Palacio Sully Muntari Yuto Nagatomo Samuel Eto’o Oh I miss the old white dragon away kit, the “special one” Mourinho, and the dominant performances that came with them. 🥺🥺😢😢😢
🤔 I'm thinking you're mistaking Inzaghi for Vieri. When it comes to passion, you can mention Inzaghi, Milito, Batigo, Obagoal and (then) maybe to Vieri
@@joshuajuventino7938 That aggressive silence blonde assassin? Who would score at any chance? Inzaghi was born offside but a great finisher and a loyalist. RAMBO was ZLATAN before ZLATAN existed..
Diego Milito was the main reason Inter won the treble in 2009/10 season. He was amazingly crucial with his goals, he scored the only goal in last league match against Siena to win the title, then scored the only goal in cup final to beat Roma, and then the "crème de la crème", he scored 2 goals in Champipns leage final against Bayern to writte his name in history books forever. He's my favourite player ever, he made our dreams come true, he made us proud to be an Interisti ⚫🔵. My hero, Diego Alberto El Principe MILITO.
I loved Diego. Was great. Used to always put him on my fifa jaja. Being a barcelonista I also have much love for Gabi.. but was always injured. Your stories are so complete and such good narrative form ! So interesting and captivating!
Inter fans have been spoilt with striker partnerships and that's not just recent with Lukaku and Martinez. Ronaldo with Zamarano, Baggio, Vieri, Recoba and there's more that I could go on with
I’ll tell you what happen... Mourinho happened to him... Jose has an amazing track record with strikers... He unlocked Milito like how he unlocked players like Drogba, Zlatan and a few more then all of a sudden he was back to default settings when Jose left for Real Madrid 🤷🏾♂️
just discovered this channel and learned a bunch about batistuta, stoichkov, jardel, baggio and a few others late 80s, 90s and early 2000s heroes that i really didnt know enough about
Maradona did him a disservice playing him on the bench for a young higuain in south africa. He needed that worldcup to wrap up an incredible performance for the year .I won't forget him,he equally deserved the world best that year. This guy was the highest scorer in seriea and the best champs league player in 2010.His goals also won the Italian league cup.
I remember him being super fast and scoring goals for Inter Milan. Also who can forget Jose Mourinho's celebration after Inter Milan knocked out Barcelona in the Semis . He pointed to the sky with his index finger while running and Víctor Valdés pushed him 😅
absolutely brilliant video thank you so much!!!!!!! I remember so clearly in 2010 thinking who is this guy and i completely forgot about him until I saw this video on my timeline, onece again thank you I really enjoyed that!!!!
I can't forget him. But what annoys me is Diego maradona not selecting 4 players from Inter who had won UCL. And as result of his ego Argentina got trashed 4-0 by Germany
Milito joined Inter when he was 29 turning 30 not 31 and, maybe you were too young to remember but he was hugely sought after from PL clubs when he was in Zaragoza but he refused preferring to go back to Italy.
I cant thank you enough for this video. If there was ever an underrated striker it was milito. He proved that the ballon d'or was fixed and that maradona was a vindictive coach. The prince will always know he has a very very very special place in the hearts of interisti.
Milito is a true football legend. The 2010 season was out of this world, especially if you are an Inter fan like me. I remember we were playing A LOT of PES at that time and we all knew that his name was Diego milito but at first we didnt know his brothers name as in the game he was called G. Milito. So we called him Gentleman Milito. Fun times.
Truly a gem. So happy Inter signed him. He didn't shy away from the likes of more famous teammates especially Eto'o and Sneijder. In fact he was more of a team player and willing to help in defence also pick up balls from half way more so than always-selfish Ibrahimovic. This is one of those dream happy ending for any footballer
He is a fantastic player his time at inter was his peak and also his last ride people dont seem to realize this man is already in his 30s after 3 great season with inter he suffers a horrific knee injury in 2013 that eventually ended his journey in europe i remember after that he return back to argentine and play for a few seasons before finally retire Unluckily for diego if he came to europe and join with a bigger team sooner im sure he will become a more household name.. i think thats the main reason why peoples besides inter fans keep forget about him
Bro, I 100% agree with this video. Peak Milito is a monster, the same kind with Drogba. I still amazed by how he pierced through Bayern defense like its some mid table club. Maradona didnt give him enough opportunities is a crime for me even until now. I also agree that he seems unbothered by the facts that the world didnt give him the easiest path in football.
Italy lowkey has its best players ever playing for Argentina. Imagine if Messi, Milito, Zanetti, Di Maria etc... played for their grand parents country. That'd be dope!!
As a Juventus fan watching him lead inter merda post farsopoli to glory hurt me a lot inside. I begrudgingly agreed though, he was one of footballs best finishers in that era of later 2000s early 2010s. And he could have had more career accomplishments had he been at bigger clubs than Genoa / Zaragoza (no disrespect to either of them though especially as both clubs do have a good fan base and history). I have him up there as one of modern footballs greatest finishers.
Dude I was always wondering what happened to this dude!!! I remember his brother was a CB at Barcelona and they played against eachother I believe for 1st time in champions league history 2 brothers on different teams played against each other. Might have been 2nd time but believe it was first as 2010 world cup the 2 Boateng Brothers played Ghana v Germany on opposing sides.
As Inter fan growing up in the 90s it was bittersweet that Inter finally won during late stage of Moratti era. If only Massimo had Beppe Marotta during 90s with him
Just a thought: there was another lil Argentine on that Zaragoza team by the name of Andres D'alesandro. To date, one of the best midfielders on his day...La boba. Fun fact: the football Liverpool are playing now was the football that the 2006 Real Zaragoza team played back then. I am both a Madrid and Brazilian fan, but in another world D'alessandro would be Brazilian.
In 2010 when everyone was crying over Messi winning the Ballon D'Or while Wes Sneijder deserved it, I thought Diego Milito on that specific year got robbed of it more then anyone...
