Thank you for addressing the liberal/conservative aspect. I moved to Boise from LA and was dismayed to discover that city officials would like nothing better than to import California style liberalism and are doing so. Well-meaning natives adopt liberalism via the internet and have no clue as to the reality of living with it, as I do. When I tell them some of my insane LA stories , they think I am lying. If I show them report of the extreme LA crime, they will say it's biased or edited, or some such. It's really sad cause they're not going to like the result if they're successful.

Thanks for making this video. Idaho is beautiful. I am leaning toward Sandpoint. Boise is nice. I am coming from Vancouver, WA. I am a skiier and I love skiing at Schweitzer. I work from home so the job part is easy. Spokane is close enough if I need to get into town, but I don't need to very often. I STAY AWAY from Portland as much as I can. Idaho rocks!

Boise’s current mayor is apparently a lefty. BSU also contributes to the liberal tilt of Boise. It’s kind of like a blue dot in a sea of red. I remember driving around the north end and seeing rainbow flags and yard signs about how no person is illegal. Considering the geographic location of Boise, it’s all a little performative and forced, amusing even, like your 15 year old dying her hair pink.

Good video. Glad you added the political information at a the end. If you want to to get out of a blue state and know Idaho is a red state, you need to know the “political climate “of the area you are moving to . My husband and I are from Oregon and wanted to get away from all of that. I’ll take a lot more snow over the left side beliefs, if I can voice that without being deleted, lol. I’m in Sandpoint which is a more artsy town which draws more liberals but saying that; I’ve had a few conversations with a few and we agree on more than we disagree. @@LivingLifeNorthIdaho The winters will discourage the homeless from staying as they will look for somewhere they won't freeze to death. However as prices skyrocket you will have more and more of the existing local populations priced out of the market. This is what happened in California, Portland, Seattle etc. They are overrun with a combination of home grown homeless and those that came in from other parts of the country.

Honestly Coeur d Alene is the same way. Coeur d Alene use to be a amazing place with a small but amazing community but due to big relators coming in making Coeur d alene more known it doesnt have the same flair and a lot of people who grew up her are unfortunately having to move out due to price to living be so high. Hi Trent, great video. How about summertime weather differences? My sis lives in CDA and my mother used to spend summers up there. I hear there are a lot of cloudy overcast days in CDA summer and best "summer " weather in early fall. True? Are there more sunny summer days in Boise?
@coreysimon7235
@coreysimon7235 3 года назад
North Idaho has hot summers, july, and August are usually in the 90's, and some days in the 100's. The only time it's very cloudy is the occasional crappy summer. Boise will typically be about 5 degrees or so warmer though.
@grammyd8361
@grammyd8361 2 года назад
Summer in north Idaho is normally hot and smokey, hard to breathe fresh air for all the forest fires in Washington, Canada, and Idaho. The growing season in Sandpoint is shorter than Cd'A by 2 to 4 weeks. Our Falls are nice and Spring is late but cool. Summers are about the same. Winters are cold, but it hasn't snowed as much in Cd'A for a few years, as it does north of us. Radon is higher in Cd'A and area, so if you are buying here, be sure to look at the radon readings... especially if you have a basement. Good paying jobs that you may want to retire on, are like hens teeth in a haystack. They are here but get use to hearing "over-qualified". Expect a cut in wages. If you don't like traffic, narrow streets or dodging potholes, then move south. Our roads use to be worse, but not by much today. Birds are rare in most part of the city. Where I live, I hardly see a bird in the yard except for a few songbirds in the spring on their way north. I'm not a hater, I'm just stating the facts. I've lived in Cd'A, for about 8 yrs. I've lived 30+ years in Boundary County but my finances have kept me a prisoner here in Cd'A. I'm retired, disabled and live below the poverty line in subsidized housing or I would be homeless in north Idaho. If you are looking to have a business, we need a good quality fabric store and a all service carwash. Not another drive thru, do it yourself'er. One where you could also have a detail shop. Both would make a good living for someone who wanted to be independant and doesn't mind working. Just putting that out there! People here aren't real friendly, Cali people need at least 6 months to detox from fluoride, pollution and stress from their manic, fast pace lifes. Lived in the same place for 8 yrs and haven't had the opportunity to get acquainted much. Life just gets in the way, sometimes.

I must disagree about having to have all-wheel/4-wheel drive in CdA. You can totally get by with 2-wheel drive, especially with good snow tires.
@JETZcorp
@JETZcorp 2 года назад
In my experience (I'm a chauffeur based out of Portland but we go to ski resorts), tires are WAY more important. This year I had the Escalade up at Timberline Lodge on all-seasons, then the next day they put studless winter tires on and I happened to go back to Timberline that night. 2WD, traction control off, on plowed snow, you could put it to the floor and it held traction almost to redline. Huge acceleration. On the all-seasons you could light up all four at will in 4x4. Not to mention, any Prius has 4x4 BRAKES, so if your tires aren't any better than that, you're in the same boat. An Accord on Blizzaks will drive circles around a lifted Duramax on A/Ts, at least until ground clearance becomes a factor.

When I lived in Boise/Garden City I used the Greenbelt along the Boise River to get to where ever I wanted to go (you can get there faster on a bike than in a car with traffic). Every year by the Fish & Game HQ we'd have black bear & yearling cougars sneak into that greenbelt to feed off the MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of feral cats, feral mink & white tail deer that live along there. Walk the greenbelt from Veteran's Park to the Horse Track/Fairgrounds bridge at night with a headlight on, and you will see a lot of neat things watching you as you go. (on more than 1 occasion I've had deer hit me & knock me off my bike along that section of the greenbelt at night)

I can confirm your descriptions are mostly accurate regarding these two areas. I’ll contrast the two as areas say a 100 mile radius or an hour and a half driving time from the two city centers. Boise with the higher elevation and with much larger mountains in the area is every bit as rugged and inaccessible as the cda area. Spokane is very near and offers a somewhat similar civic venue as does Boise. Boise isn’t as cold but the outskirts are every bit as cold as the cda area. Boise seems more upbeat then kootenai county. Jobs are better represented in ada. Traffic isn’t that different honestly unless you live in meridian or Nampa area. Cda has a better schools for the most part. The outdoor opportunities in the Boise area are every bit as good as the cda area. Boise people say the northern areas of Idaho are more liberal than the southern sections. I believe the south in general is as conservative as the north if not more so. Cda as a world apart from twin falls and Pocatello for sure. The cda area isn’t that much different than Boise for the most part. Cda is an offshoot of Spokane just as Nampa is of Boise so to speak. Lived in Boise several times. Lived in cda for 14 years. Spirit Lake bonners ferry rathdrum and cda. Love the north for sure. Grew up in twin. Cost of living horrible in Boise. I honestly love the mountains more in the Boise area. Just opinions. Twin falls AREA has the best outdoor options. Jobs are awful in The central section. It’s a toss up

Boise is liberal North Idaho is conservative. Cordelane is a wealthy place more like Sun Valley. The real estate in Cordelane is more in line with the true value of the land. Boise is way over priced and the waterways around Boise are dirty compared to up North. However if you are older and want good accessible hospitals you will want Boise. What I am wondering is who can afford these home prices making even 50 or 75K? I don't like how dirty Boise is, but being non white I feel comfortable there. In Whitebird more north I was told to git in a restaurant because of my skin color. Nope, still white supremacists up there if your about that then go up North. Thank God we are populating in Boise and Nampa and race and sex discrimination is looked down upon. Micron Technology and Boise state are the largest employers and tax payers in the state and they are both liberal organizations. Liberal in like you must be vaccinated to work there. Even being liberal the reason it's so safe is EVERYONE has guns. I have 4 and 1 very large caliber Semi Automatic Rifle. So don't get out of your car and start yelling at some no matter if you are in Boise or Sandpoint, we all have guns, liberal and non liberal. If you have teens and they are rebels they are likely to get shot if they get caught stealing. Adding. We are having serious water issues because Real Estate Agents, Developers and City Legislators are making big money on farmers selling out. They are handing out permits and rezoning for residential without the infrastructure to support the new growth in the Boise area. Honestly water is life, so if we are going to ration water and getting clean water is a problem in the suburbs we have issues. Power is getting worse too where we are being told to conserve or we may get planned brown outs in the future. That part was really left out. Gas prices are also higher than normal not as high as California but higher than Massachusetts.

IMO, it seems to make a lot of sense for eastern Oregon and eastern Washington counties to join Idaho. For one thing, it looks like the main way to travel between Boise and Coeur D'Alene is through eastern Oregon and eastern Washington. The only way to keep Boise from turning blue is to restrict the size. If it keeps growing, it will turn blue, and there will be abundant crime, homelessness, etc. Because crime likes big cities.

Thanks @Afsana Islam North idaho does have a shuttle bus system that connects people to Hayden, CdA, Post Falls and Rathdrum but compared to a major city it’s not great. Same goes for Boise, there are bus routes but only to major areas. You’re definitely going to need a vehicle if you live in Idaho.

coeur d alane is basically a suburb of Spokane so I'd say they are pretty comparible in terms of activities. I'd say coeur d alane might beat it being a resort town an closer to more major cities like Seattle Portland Vancuver BC ect.

Nice video man. One thought at the end, lots of liberals live in Coeur A'lene just like lots of Conservatives live in California. In fact Idaho has a rich political past with Democratic governors and such. Just don't want you to be caught in the clique of telling people Cd'A is some kind of monoculture of conservativism. In the 2018 election, 43% of Cd'A voted for a Democrat. It's hard for locals like myself who didn't grow up in Cd'A with extreme politics to have everyone moving here land with a preconceived notion of what our community is or isn't. So as a content creator who is presenting our area many of us would appreciate it if you many said it leans conservative but has a diverse and independent-minded community. Cheers.

That’s a really great point and I’ve been trying to find someone to do a video to discuss the democratic voters perspectives and talk about that part of our history. Shoot me an email if you’d be interested. Livinglifenorthidaho@gmail.com.

My only correction is during the winter in Boise area we get inversions that suck. It'll drive the AQI up and the Temps down. Normally we do see Temps in the teens and single digits but not very long. Our Northern peeps get harsher winter. I wanted point out we get inversions during the winter and they suck! I've considered moving up north. I got friends in St. Mary's. I've noticed the rental market up there is as bad as down here.

Glad you spent the time in the Boise area; my daughter's family lives in suburban Boise. It is not at all like what you describe as the political climate in North Idaho. You should cover the downside of the overall more redness in Idaho however, such as the statewide rationing of hospital access in the entire state as of 9/16/2021 thanks to anti-vaxxing and anti-masking fanaticism of Idaho politicians. Hospitals in eastern Oregon are being flooded with desperately ill and dying non-masked and non-vaccinated Idahoans who are stealing beds that belong to Oregonians. This is not right; you want your beliefs, fine. Just pay for the results and don't stick your woes on other states. I see a lot of complaints in the comments on this channel about Californians coming to Idaho and trying to make it bluer. Well, don't bring your out-of-control pandemic to blue states like Oregon and Washington. I was accused of being a hypocrite here on my last comment to your channel. Who's the hypocrite now?
