Ti Hero says, "Truth and logic can literally save the world. Unfortunately, it's true that the vast majority of people do not care about truth and logic". Ne Parent says, "indeed, that's precisely why so many people make bad choices. Unless people start to care about logic, we're all pretty much doomed. Furthermore, it is practically impossible to teach a none Ti user why logic is important, thus we might as well accept our miserable fate". Si Child says "Well, if we're going to go out, might as well go out comfortable, and with as many good experiences as possible". Fe inferior says "There's no reason why other people should have to feel bad about it either".

Yes! This is exactly how I drive. I am not a grandpa driver at all, it's a calculated approach between risk versus reward; if I'm in a school zone the fine is double and cops are everywhere so not worth the extra speed. But if I'm on the freeway and I'm speeding with a car in front and back of me it's just about a guarantee that I will not be stopped, but the entp in front of me might be. 😝

I will do those things. I've been told I drive like a Grandma but I speed when I'm late for something which is usually whenever I have something in my life that requires being on time. I also slow down around places cops can hide and go faster where there's no places for them hide. I tend to try to go at a constant speed for maximum efficiency and use as little brakes as possible, so in traffic jams lots of people hate me but when they pass me all they do is get 1 car length ahead and stop and start like an idiot >.
@HobDobson
@HobDobson 6 лет назад
There's almost always a reason for the cars up ahead of me to be slowing down or hitting their brakes. Also, I'm usually too late (or, rarely, too early) for the time "gained" by fighting traffic flow to matter. What scares my passengers is that I may be paying attention to different things than they are. I'd blame the ADHD, but that just means that extroverted sensing for me is a wee bit more unreliable than average.

I think I mistyped myself for a long time (I thought I was an INTP but I'm probably an ENTP). The point is that I agree so much with the INTP description, it describes me on so many ways especially when I think of how I was during my teenage years. The point is that growing up it's like I learned to think more like an ENTP. I love argumenting things, I love thinking, study all the possibilities, that's what I always do in every situation and I think this is what makes me different from an INTP, because I always think with logic, but I can never be that 100% sure of saying something (unless I'm talking about math or something that is just a fact) because I'm aware of all the possibilities and probabilities around any reasoning ever. The catch is that I never felt too extroverted. I know I recharge myself from being alone, I love being alone, do my own things, being a nerd, etc. I don't care staying in a group of people usually because I value only a few people around me, and it usually makes me feel unconfortable sharing myself with people I don't estimate enough. But I feel like I'm starting more and more to find a certain pleasure from sharing my thoughts with others, make them know who I am and finally let it out a bit, and maybe I always wanted that, I just never really thought I actually needed it. That's the reason why I feel like I'm probably evolving toards the ENTP I've always been (does that make sense? ahahah). Could I have cut it shorter than this? Probably yes, but I watched quite a bunch of your videos recently, I think I just had to let that flux of thoughts out.

"If you would be a real seeker after truth, it is necessary that at least once in your life you doubt, as far as possible, all things.” -René Descartes (INTP and French philosopher. 1596-1650) As an INTP myself, Truth is far more interesting than anything one could do once in his or her own life. Although I can also appreciate the fact that there is more than one way to do the same thing over and over again in a different way and get a different result. Other personality types who do a different thing over and over again in the same way and get the same result would probably just chalk it up to insanity. If you combine IT is what IT is with IT can be anything you want IT to be, you get IT is what IT is you want IT to be. Thank you so much for your videos. IT truly is appreciated by me as an INTP who delves into philosophy and Truth in a scientific manner. Especially as I get older. As a 46 year old INTP, IT would have been nice to have known all this when I was in my 20's. Although looking ahead I know it will help me in my future endeavors. Ok I already commented but this is a completely different topic so I'm saying it in a separate comment. What you said about INTP's being doormats in relationships, always wanting to be comfortable, and their partner needing to make them uncomfortable for them to change and/or leave. Extremely accurate, I recently left a two year mentally abusive relationship with an ESFP because he started being physically abusive, and of course that made it so I wasn't in my comfort zone anymore. Now I'm in a relationship with an INTJ and things are great, but that really hit home and I wish I had seen that rant sooner.

But I think the difference between the ENTP and the INTP is actually the length of time or...The patience etc that we are willing to give before withdrawing that loyalty. So basically the amount of time/effort it takes to gain the ENTPS AND the INTPS loyalty are very similar. But the INTPs will give more...Chances before withdrawing it again. Probably because it’s so hard to find people we think Are worthy of it. It’s hard to Accept that we were wrong about that person and need to be absolutely 100% SURE we were wrong. But once we are... That’s it. We are done and will Cut that person off. Sometimes very suddenly (or at least that’s how it is perceived) and harshly.

Arlinda Quaresma You make a fair point! If it really is autism/Asperger's, it should be properly addressed. I suppose I just took his rant with a grain of salt, rather than taking it to mean you should never assume the possibility. Heck, I just imagine how my life may have been different with such a label that isn't really fitting. A few speech problems in early childhood, a few social/anger problems through elementery school, struggling to be as empathetic as my mom or sister, etc. In some regards, I could've been "shut down" as "defective" when I'm just different, but for the most part I'm very much normal (well, normal INTP I suppose haha). Not trying to attack you, and you make a fair point. Just explaining my interpretation. I think he "went off the rails" just for sake of hyperbole and passion, to make a point. Much respect for both of you, civility is good.

One of the things I noticed is that when testing an idea or theory an ENTP would first take things apart or proceed with experimentation without a clear end goal then would make a hypothesis about their observation after the experiment is done, while an INTP would make a hypothesis then try to take things apart to test their theory. it's just a little thing i notice about how this two types.

Great video. I've never heard anyone else besides myself say what you said about being selfish. I never understood why it took a negative tone. Being naturally altruistic I actually needed to learn to be more selfish and less selfless. I think it's a major malfunction in society, constantly pouring from an empty cup. And I LOVE what you said about wisdom and comfort!! It only comes from struggle and failure and that's not something everyone can make it through. And you're so right about needing to put a gun to my head to make me get going. My dad called me out on that as a child and told me that with me pressure makes diamonds. Thank you for the validation of NTPs being miracle workers. I work in the spiritual & metaphysical world and have witnessed countless miracles. It's funny that you rant about the INTPs not being autistic, and while i agree with it entirely, i find it hilarious because 2 out of the 3 INTPs I know actually have autism (including me). I’ve been mistyped before, I’m pretty sure I’m intp, but I don’t relate to how you’re describing Si as always wanting to be in your comfort zone. I’ve always felt like I needed new experiences/input so I’ve always tried to push myself into new things. Of course I can’t continually process and adapt to new things, and after big changes I need time alone to process them or I get really stressed out and shut down. But after too long of the same I get edgy, irritated and bored like there’s no new input or I’m not learning anything new. Also! As a female, this whole “INTPs stay in bad relationships” is superr foreign to me? I sense (or irrationally fear, more likely) relationship bullshit from a mile away and at the first sign of funny business I will coldly cut somebody off and not look back. But I could see how the male experience is different from women’s. Where intp males probably don’t put themselves out there when males are normally expected to pursue a woman, when they find someone they stay with her. But as a female intp, you can get a lot of douchey male attention from people who see you as a “lady” and don’t really see you for your mind which is what you want to be seen for, and it changes your perspective. Why put yourself out there for someone you’re bored by, and doesn’t see ya. Maybe that’s just me, or I’m just not an intp lol

I do resemble the typical INTP quite well but one thing has been confusing me. The 'doormat' thing - I can generally pick up on when someone attempts to manipulate or use me for personal gain. When I was younger I was the one trying to better my relationships to the people closer to me by manipulation (not necessarily bad is it?). That's the one thing that I can't really understand so I thought I could be an ENTP but then again I do take my time for almost anything and come of as lazy. Also, I was diagnosed with LLI which I do believe to be correct and not a misdiagnose.

John Harrison I have had almost exactly the same types of experiences in life.. I am 26 and just figuring all of this MBTI and INTP stuff out over the last 4-5 months and it all makes sense now why certain things have happened to me. Also why I barely trust anyone now. Thankfully now I am aware and if I direct my focus at trying to read people and gauge what their motives are it is VERY easy for me to see when things are off or if they’re attempting to manipulate me. But I think most of my life I was just walking around in my head Ti and completely getting manipulated and screwed over, barely ever realizing and when I did, I didn’t seem to care too much and just let myself suffer. Still not too great with Se. lol

I'm so glad this video exists. I've been learning this stuff recently and I was questioning whether I might be ENTP since I don't feel like I act very introverted. I think, though, that my social skills are more learned than instinctual and I actually do feel drained when I'm around too many unfamiliar people. I'm also much more prone to apathy and failure to launch than not following through when I get going with something. They're really helping me overcome a few issues in my life currently and have, in a way, liberated me to actually work on what I want to rather than feel bogged down and be pushed into escapism by my psyche with video games and other dopaminergic responses. It seems like the ENTP has a hard time in the beginning of life because we are very much interested in helping the planet but it seems that until we can get a grasp on Si planning and using that to help others Ne futures we're essentially sitting ducks.

I like your point about Autism/Aspergers. I've used my Esfp friend that has Aspergers as a counter example. He is acutely aware of the environment and notices even the slightest change, he is very sociable but unable to communicate fluently (but as it is often the case with people on that spectrum he's very smart). Even with that said, Ti polr is a constant problem. (Even though as Socionics points he's great at improvising solutions with Se and Te). I agree that the relation between mental and biological disorders/ conditions and type is generally poorly understood.

At least the Smart people around me always look at me like im this cool and interesting person sometimes i even surprise myself and try to keep my excitement hidden. I can be everybody's crush at a party...everybody will want to engage with me...all i do is wear this mask and behave differently with everybody...just what the situation needs...sometimes i would it wrongly and i would try too much to please people i liked but realised it was wrong...some might take advantage ofc...not to mention ive got a twin brother who's also an INTP..bit more assertive than myself...ive just started digging through all this personality thing while he is actually studying psychology so he is not an initiate for a long time now... i consider myself creative i study music production and sound engineering...my goal is to be **the one ** in this field....back to the parties?...well... having been paired with a skilled twin since tje verry begining...this helped us explore the world with more ease as intps...which proved to be really helpful...we made leaps at some point when we move abroad on our own and by the age of 24 we would have already achieved so many...like living on our own in more than 6-8 different cities...3 countries...and soon conquering the world!!!! Yeah, most people CANNOT handle the truth...esp those people that seem to need to hear it the very most, unfortunately. Love (sarcasm) being labeled a b**** or a mean person for simply saying out loud the actual, literal truth--esp when I'm doing it to: a. Make things more efficient b. Help that person in their life c. Help the underdog c. All of the above (not in that order) My motives are forever being misconstrued but they are pure in their intent, truly. Yeah, I've had to learn the hard way(s) to quit being a fricking doormat for loser guys and for loser friends. Always, always have to give them multiple chances bc hey, they can't help being screwed up, right? And surely they don't treat people this way out of maliciousness...doesn't flipping matter WHY they behave badly (although this is my absolute all-time favorite question lol): throw the abusers in the dumpster, right? Right. Thanks once again for being accurate and blunt (in that order).

This is marvelously insightful. And here I thought I maybe had a touch of motor neuron disease with how I drop things such as pencils and usb drives, etc (never cups of coffee or laptops though). It doesn't happen ALL the time - but it happens often enough for me to wonder wtf is wrong with me. I'm 'brutally strong' (not my words) and yet I cannot seem to hold on to things lol - they just slip through my fingers and only after I snap to attention do I realize I was in a completely different universe. That Se thing's got to be the culprit. Will be binge-watching these videos in late February/early March. Chuckle: right around the 20 minute mark: There is one constant among all ENTPs (of a primate disposition, anyway) in the universe; whether they are particularly likable or not - their infrequent rants are always awesome to behold.

When I first started driving, I would drive very fast, accelerate very fast, brake very hard, test every possible scenario in every possible way, crank the music to 11 all the time, and be in a constant state of go go go. Now I go pretty slow, the music's just loud enough to hear over the road, and I spend most of my driving time trying to figure things out in my head. I prefer the fast driving and loud music, but it's too stressful on the long drives that I do. I've been toying with the idea of being INFP Rationale after you suggested it, but I don't know lol. My two closest confidants growing up were INFJs. I love movies and used to be a storyboard artist and film editor. But I also detest movies which have an entirely predictable ending. And that is what I am mostly seeing of late. Too bad an INTP can't set their type aside a while just to take in a good movie. And after most of the movies I have lately seen I have ask myself, 'What was the point of that?' I've always thought of myself as a mix of an ENTP/INTP, and I think this video has helped me confirm that. I struggle with the apathetic vs. attentiveness dilemma like an INTP (also I easily get into ruts where I don't do anything, and also am prone to failure to launch syndrome out of apathy) but I'm also really eager to help anyone including in groups and take on leadership roles in situations that I'm comfortable in like an ENTP (I also HATE trying new things, and can't be productive unless I have immediate pressure on me). This video kind of helped me confirm the mix between the two, I think my mood (and comfort level) determines whether I operate by NE or by TI, making it hard to commit to anything long term. This video helped me explain the differences though, and now hopefully being aware of the way I think can bring about some change. Thanks!

As an INTP who used to (and often at times, still do) struggled with my emotions, I ended up realizing that by ignoring the fact that "emotions" exist, I ended up destroying many of my close relationships. I didn't understand what I was feeling and hence, in an attempt to "bottle them" I let them take over my life. You're ABSOLUTELY right about the whole INTPs are the doormat types. For many of us, we need to be distanced from toxic relationships (friendships or otherwise), often by external intervention, to see exactly what they were. And the only thing that can truly remove our "rose-colored" sunglassed bias from the relationship is TIME. It took finding people who were ACTUAL friends for me to understand that. Perhaps the next part might be kind of amusing to many (I think so at any rate 😅) was that, labeling my emotions helped me dealing with them. Because whenever I felt a certain way, I'd look into it by figuring out the "WHY"s behind my emotions. And once I did, it helped me see things (emotions of the people around me, realize their behavioral patterns) in a more concrete light. However, I do admit that I struggle with understanding the WHYs behind others' behavior at times. Though admittedly, I learned the "It's not a bad thing to be selfish" the REAALLLLY hard way XD And once I did, if someone called me selfish (it was a childhood fear of mine and was for a majority of my life, didn't want to hurt anyone) I didn't care anymore. 'Cause my "selfishness" taught me to build boundaries. Anyho, we are still students of life no matter how much we age 😊 Thank you for this video! I've always had trouble understanding if I was actually an INTP or a mis-typed ENTP, and now I know that I am an actual INTP XD

This guy is THE bomb when it comes to any of the things he talks about on most any such subjects as these. Guaranteed. That is a subjective option of mine that is probably actually more objective than most would ever realize. Yo, Mr. Joseph, what name do you prefer to go by? You can feel free to call me Vanilla Yoplay. My middle name is LaVan and I normally on by my nickname Van anyways. :) I have an ENTP 14 year old son. You 2 are unbelievably alike. I have an INTJ dad (yes I got beaten terribly growing up:). On top of that, he was raised in South Carolina, where my theory is that, most of the kids there, in his generation, were raised as slaves, since they couldn’t buy them there anymore, and way too many are still bitter in many ways about that, to this day. My grandfather won farmer of the year in South Carolina, partly due to the fact that my dad and his 9 other siblings, worked their tail off. My dad owned a roofing company and I worked on roofs much, from the age of 8. Helped him invent and engineer and build various roofing tools in our “free” time. I have an extremely hi IQ, however I’m normally extremely “stupid” socially and when it comes to fashion, of course. LoL 😂. Guess my type. :)
