Well it's 2023 and I enjoyed the video. I just bought 2 Florida King peache trees and going to get 1 or 2 more and maybe plum and pear ,I have the space just need the strength. At 72 I want to, you know for my 2 grand girls 6and 10 they love it. So they can enjoy them after I'm gone. I have prayed over them to bare fruits and I believe that they will. Amen. I will be watching for more advice, thank you

I just moved to Florida and I want to grow everything you are growing. I am just 20 minutes south west of Gainesville and 30 minutes north west of Ocala. I am determined and have read so much about the wood chips, used them in WA state and they are fantastic. I am excited but won’t be able to start maybe until fall. But thanks so much as I am following your lead! Peaches, figs, mangos, avocados, pineapples, apples, blueberries, star fruit, palmagranite, kumquat, lemons, maybe even a paw paw if I can find one. Great video! Thanks a lot!

Find a loquat tree….there are several varieties, they are similar to an apricot(more of a pale yellow color and a little less tangy). Easy to grow very lattice maintenance. Lots of fruit, usually just after oranges, around late February into March.

That's great news the Florida Prince is a great variety. I'm going to pick up a few more small peach trees tomorrow and we'll be making another video on how I initially prune after planting. I prefer to get small trees and then I chop it down to about 18 in and let it Branch out from there. So it looks like I just planted a stick in the ground LOL but it's the best way to develop desired structure for small dense open Center trees. It's a learning experience and the most fun thanks for watching and best wishes with your new Florida Prince peach tree. And by the way keep your eye out for the curvature LOL let me know if you see any

Thank you so much for sharing. I'll certainly take your advice on the peach trees. We just planted two low chill varieties this year in our food forest and they need pruning. We're in Pinellas and we're growing Cripps Pink and red Fuji apple trees along with the low chill Anna and Golden Dorsett. We have them planted two to a hole. Look into Kuffel Creek nursery if you haven't already. Great resource for growing apple trees in our unique climate. Wonderful video! Thanks again.

Subscribed. First year gardening. Got tons of wood chips. Not mixing into soil, just as top mulch. Almost 4 months and I see soil improvement. Found you from recent purchase of Fla peach tree.t live in Summerfield, near Ocala. Man, one plant does real well here is Moringa. supposed to be super food. Eat the leaves raw or cooked. The amazing thing about it is how easy the cuttings grow. Any small branch with nodes and brown bark skin, pencil thin and up. All I did was skin about 4 inches of bottom brown skin to show green and then stick it in the ground. I wonder if you consider using your cuttings to grow. My gardening started actually in 2018 when lady gave me tiny moringq. It grew taller than my house but died that winter, or so I thought. Then it came back double with thicker trunks. 2019 winter was mild so it didn't die. Now its taller than my house again. I pruned it some, harvest those leaves still in fridge and then planted those cuttings. I think 4 died and 6 are growing like mad. But when covid hit that's when I went gardening serious. My blueberries have mixed results. My soil ph is 7. I read blueberries need acidic so I mixed sulfer into soil on 4 of them to experiment. 1 died and other 3 look poor. The others in 7 ph are doing fine. I may have to extract sulfer. The ph got lower 4.6 which is supposed to be optimal. One of my figs produced, the other has small bud fruit that fall off. My guava trees are doing excellent. I got fig cuttings to grow also. 50/50 success on those cuttings. As to tomatoes, not so good. But I started late on them, In late April. 30 plants, better boys, gave me only 27 tomatoes. Now they tell me the time to plant is now. Florida has to plan different because of too much heat. Got a good Fla gardening book.Totally crazy easy Florida gardening by David the Good

I’m in Louisiana, also zone 9a. I bought 2 peach trees last year 1 died and 1 is still dormant but I think it may die. I bought 2 this year and they seem to be ok so far. They are dwarfs so I’m growing them in containers to have more control of the soil since it rained so much this past winter. The problem is that I bought them are Lowe’s, and online nurseries and I found out after researching the varieties I have, they all need atleast 600-800 chill hours. I think the problem I’m having is I’m choosing the wrong varieties of peach. Although they say they grow in my zone, I don’t think they are getting enough chill hours. Would you say the Florida king is a good choice for low chill?
@gardenoftruth8265
@gardenoftruth8265 4 года назад
Hello and thanks for the question . The Florida King is going to want I think about 450 chill hours. My areas average chill hours are about 300 and I have a Florida King and have not seen one single flower. LOL when it comes to peach trees here where I'm growing I've had success with the Florida Prince, Tropic Beauty, and UF best which are all less than 200 chill hours. Your best bet is to find out what your local average chill hours are and make selections accordingly.. best wishes
@K80sLife
@K80sLife 4 года назад
Garden of Truth lol I tried 5 varieties of peach trees so far. They all seem to have over 600 chill hours which is insane that they are selling those in my area. We get 400-600 supposedly. One that I got from a local feed store was from a nursery in northern Louisiana. It was a redhaven and had over 20 peaches when I bought it. I put it in the ground and it ended up with one peach left that had red spots. So I guess it got bacterial spot. The tree died a few months later. The flordia king I have is really young so I’m keeping it in a container for now. Maybe next year I’ll get lucky and finally get to grow peaches
@gardenoftruth8265
@gardenoftruth8265 4 года назад
@@K80sLife sorry to hear you had so many problems trying to grow peaches. The fruit trees you bought in the past have received the chill hours required at the farm they grew so they did set fruit the first year but then they're not getting the proper chill hours the following year where you live so you're not getting any fruit set. If you're getting four to six hundred chill hours in your area you should have good production from the Florida King. You also want to be careful not to get trees requiring too few chill hours because you could get late Frost to ruin the fruit set. I look for a reputable local nursery and stay away from The Big Box Farm stores. Happy gardening and never give up the Good Hope
