This is so strange. Just today I was wondering if my boy was sick. It’s been raining for two days and he’s just not as active as normal. He’s in my bedroom which has three large windows. He’s eating and basking but doesn’t have much interest in coming out to run around my room like normal. Thanks for the info. I’ve only had him for three months, just over and he’s two years old in July. This was comforting thank you 🙏

@@ReptilesandResearch so I found out it’s because he’s shedding on his legs and he’s a little uncomfortable right now he’s been shedding so slowly it started with his head and then he shed on one arm but not the other and now he’s shedding his back legs. It looks like his tail is going to be next. It’s quite light. Ugh, I’m way too wound up. He’s young. I’m learning. 🤷‍♀️ we can only do our best and do our research! 😉

What if he is alert but sits with his mouth agape slightly but usually when hes in a position he likes? Hes always done this and i though he was just comfortable. He will go and sleep inside his cool side hide if we do not get him out when he wants but we thought it was a product of us fighting brumation/hibernation as we were advised. He knows that if he goes in his log that we will usually get him out. He will even stop hallway and wait to see if someone will get him. If no one is there he will go in and sleep usually. Hes 15 months old and a bit overweight 488g. He has been a lot less active lately yet still alert when out of his enclosure etc.

My bearded dragon has been staying in his cool hide a lot recently and since we are in april like you said i’m starting to worry that’s its no longer hibernation. His basking spot is at 115F and the cool end is around 85F in the actual hide. He has a messed but tail from MBD that he’s had since i got him but i don’t feel like it’s contributing to the problem since it hasn’t gotten worse since i’ve got him about 4 years ago. He’s still very very food motivated even for some greens. He still baskets here and there and when i set out a ramp for him to free rom in my room he only goes out like 1/5 of the time. I know that’s not a lot to go off but lmk if you got any advice. Love the vids and the podcast btw thank you.

Unrelated, but evolving pythons did a video on cutting scales on the bellies of ball pythons to send in for genetic testing. Id love to hear your takes on the ethics of that?

My bearded dragon seems to be acting normally except for her eating habits. I never see her eat. I worry she’s not eating but at the same time she must be eating because she is overweight. She’s 10 months old and weighs 364 g. Should I worry?

Ive noticed a couple things with my beardie. He has been seeming more tired lately and most times when i put him in his enclosure he will go inside his log on the cool side. Weve always thought he was doing that become he was mad he got put back in. I think hes sleeping when in there but not sure. If he goes in his hide on the warm side he will just stare out. He also gapes sometimes when hes outside of his enclosure but we thought it was just because he was comfortable. He doesn't do it for extended amount of time and usually after he was gaping on his bask. Do i need to be concerned? Im taking him for a fecal this week.
