I'm a newly qualified social worker who is neuro divergent. Today I was in a meeting which I found very overwhelming. I am now currently on my way home when I stumbled across an article on Google which led me here, to your channel. - so thank you. This has been very supportive and empowering for me today. I don't feel so alone. Haha ! 😊
Hey you are not alone and glad you found me here. I can also recommend the following as you mentioned you are neuro-divergent ndsocialworker.wixsite.com/ndsw She is part of my discord group which you are welcome to also join if you want to - discord.com/invite/cSH5aFH5
Thank you for this video. I had an mdt meeting only yesterday relating to a service user and parent having difficulty managing medication. Missed appointments and service user refusing to take meds. Health teams insisting on raising safeguarding without appreciating back story of family. Sometimes it feels like everything has to be either black or white . But its the grey areas that are importsnt too.
Hi yeah that can be really challenging in meetings. While I was putting some research into this, I came across a good article, not new but shows the importance of standing by our values - www.communitycare.co.uk/2016/09/28/self-neglect-someone-safeguard-elsies-story/
I had my first role play assessments for my diploma and this was out of my comfort zone. My weakness is group meeting situations and this one had conflict. I really want to improve my conflict resolution skills especially in a larger meeting situation. This would've have been soo much help if I found you last week or the week before. Great content.
Hi I'm really pleased to hear you are finding the content useful! 😊 Honestly, conflict resolution comes with practice and knowing the end goal which is to advocate for the person you are supporting. I find that by being very clear on the info important to that person before the meeting, you are best able to stand up for them and manage conflict effectively. 😊
This is always challenging and a good reminder you mentioned is that I am a professional indeed. It's always daunting and I find this mostly with Drs, however, getting prepped before the meeting helps loads as you mentioned!xxxx
