I had a nosebleed tonight for the first time in my life. I am not on any blood thinners. I think the air is very dry in my house and I just had a cold recently so I was blowing my nose a lot. I was bleeding so bad I called 911 but it’s very cold outside and it took them five minutes to get here and by breathing in all the cold air it was about 30° outside. It started to stop I sat in the ambulance and fortunately, it finally did stop, so I never had to go to the ER then I watched your video which was very helpful, so yes someone is watching you on RU-vid and benefiting. The one thing I thought was odd was that the EMT never took my blood pressure and I’m 70 years old I don’t have high blood pressure but I still think she should’ve checked it in my opinion.

Expert here in stopping them. Do the following: 1) take a K-Tip and put some Vaseline in your nose softly. Only put in front part Don’t go in the area where you have the round sinus closer balls. 2) press the side of your nose with the paper towel. 3) Drink a glass of water to hydrate. 4) Avoid caffeinated drinks 5) Use a humidifier like he said 6) cinnamon has coumarin that’s a blood thinner that will make it hard to stop the bleeding so don’t use it. 7) can try the silver burning treatment. It does help. 8) space heaters and areas that don’t allow circulation will dry your nose out and cause a bleed.

I remember when I was a kid I had bad nose bleeds. I would wake up and my pillow was covered in blood. My parents took me to the doctor plenty of times. These days its just an occasional nuisance. However, when I catch a cold I am more likely to get one.

When the weather is dry I get a nose bleed. Ughh. What helps me is using a very small amount of XY water based lubricant (applied with a Q tip) 2 or 3 times a day that is applied just inside the nose. I never thought of that Afrin used to stop a nose bleed.

Don’t use this on a regular basis. Overuse of nose sprays can damage your sense of smell.

My sister gets nose bleeds which has taken up for a month. That comes on and off sometimes a little and sometimes gets the palm full in blood. Had consulted ENT Surgeons in Pakistan and got endoscopy of nose but all goes fine. Had CBC Test, Prothrombin Time, PT Test,APTT Test as well and all of them are normal. Still nose bleeds and now, ENT Surgeon asks for Neck and Head CT Scan. Please let me know what to do as her health weakens day by day with drowziness and headaches.

Thanks Doctor, but from other videos of thought they're saying high blood pressure can also cause that. I wanna know how does it cause nose bleeding. Moreover mine comes from the left side only, is that okay??
@yousuckduck2012
@yousuckduck2012 5 месяцев назад
High blood pressure… causes extra pressure in your veins/arteries. The nose has a very thin layer of protection from those arteries. So with high blood pressure sometimes it can cause a weak spot to break open and start bleeding. Usually can be avoided as mentioned in the video, moisturizer, nasal sprays to get nose moist and prevent it from drying out. Humidifier is a must especially for sleeping.
@yousuckduck2012
@yousuckduck2012 5 месяцев назад
Also nose bleeds take extensive time to heal. So someone who has nose bleeds frequently will quit often have weaker protection as the previous nose bleed haven’t healed. It may look like it’s healed but the actually lining of the nose takes months to heal even if it looks like it healed to the naked eye

When I pinch and hold I feel like I'm underwater with out plugging my nose. I feel the blood filling up in the back.
@wordivore

I went to the ER with a nosebleed a few weeks ago. The doctor told me to hold my nose like this doctor is instructing. It didn't work. It would NOT stop and I kept choking on the blood even though I did NOT have my head back. When the doctor left the room, I let it just bleed into a bag a nurse gave me, til it stopped. He did cauterize it and then acknowledged that holding it where he told me to, would not have worked because it was bleeding from further up. Not quite a posterior nose bleed, but it was up toward the bone, just under it. So you have to hold/pinch it in the area where the blood is coming from. Maybe the source of yours isn't/wasn't where you were pinching it.

I went to emergency yesterday for severe, nonstop bleeding from my right side, 4 days after cauterizing. Blood was coming out of both nostrils, my mouth and right eye. I have a long inflatable nasal pack in for the next 3 days. Was wondering what can be done since I already had a vessel cauterized (no numbing - so much pain for about 30 seconds and the rest of the evening 😢). Going to my ENT on Friday to remove the pack, but I’m afraid it’ll bleed again since it’s been slowly bleeding with the pack in.

What came of your nosebleed? Did packing work?
@starburst391
@starburst391 2 месяца назад
@@Prxyshjpacking stopped the bleed. Got the pack removed on Friday, ENT couldn’t tell me anything because my nasal passage was all raw so I had to wait a week to see him again. I went to my son’s soccer game the next day and it started to bleed, but I was able to stop it with Afrin. Saw my ENT the following Friday. The bleed was further up from the first cauterized area. He cauterized and it’s been ok since.
@Prxyshj
@Prxyshj 2 месяца назад
@@starburst391 Thanks for responding. So you think a repeat cauterizing is what ultimately fixed it? I read somewhere that packing only has a 50% success rate. I have a similar situation - eyes and all. Earlier cauterizations didn’t stop it fully. Packing slid out on its own while eating. Bleeds are much less severe now - but haven’t stopped. No history of nosebleeds.
@starburst391

@@PrxyshjIt was a different location in the same nostril, not the same vein that was previously catered. It’s worked so far. I asked the ENT what causes such a severe nosebleed. He said, “it just happens.”
