Poison dart frogs lay their eggs on leaves far from water in the rainforest. Being frogs, they need water for their tadpoles - so how do they do it? How do poison dart frogs find water that is free from predators and will last long enough without drying out? They sniff out the scent of leaves decaying in water!
I think the poison dart frog terrarium hobby overlaps quite a bit with the reef tank hobby. Both allow you to recreate a beautiful living work of art, but luckily poison frogs are pretty easy to breed in captivity. Plants are also easy to reproduce, so a dart frog tank can be created completely without any impact to wild plants and animals.
