Bali, Indonesia is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, with millions of people visiting every year and enjoying their time. But it’s not always fun. You see, Indonesia has strict drug laws and has dozens of convicted smugglers on death row. And recently, 5 foreigners were arrested for selling drugs and 3 foreigners were even executed via firing squad a few years ago. With all this bad news surrounding foreigners, we thought it would be interesting to find out how the people of Bali perceive foreigners as a whole.
The opinions expressed in this video are those of individual interviewees alone and do not reflect the views of ASIAN BOSS or the general Indonesian population.
Special thanks to our Asian Boss team in Bali, Indonesia.

I AM FROM the Netherlands, and I can confirm that this is true. However growing drugs and selling them outside of a cafe is illegal. And people still do this. The Dutch government is getting smart however, they are attracting millennials with high pay to the places the drug users are suspected to live (With these millennials obeying the law). After a while the users will be forced to move out. Though there will always be people who smoke weed outside, but that isn't the commonality. People will generally follow the rules, and I think that it is because it isn't strictly enforced? Idk, I don't go to many coffee shops.

I'm glad many of them like Westerners. I went there on my honeymoon, as well as to other parts of Indonesia, and it was a very good experience. I hope that other Americans who go there make sure they follow the rules and customs. Edit: Reading the comments it seems like everyone thinks the foreigners they are complaining about are strictly Australian/ White. Even though when asked most said they liked the Western ones. They use drugs there sometimes but I believe a lot of Africans are the ones selling the drugs, and the rudest tourists are Chinese. They look down on the local people, litter, cut in line, etc. If you've never been there, the majority of the tourists are not westerners. They are obviously other Asians due to proximity. You guys need to reexamine the hate you have for Westerners, it's mostly unfounded.

Perhaps, there are ways of educating tourist before they fly into Bali or anywhere in Indonesia. Would some regulations and even test help to keep Bali like it is or like it was? I read and believe the best thing about Bali are its people. Like most everywhere I think Bali is great now but it might have been better with less population like 20 or 30 years ago. I'd like to know how to be more like a Balinese citizen when I become an expat.
