Well, Chinese young people didn't just learn about the history of WWII from textbook and news, we actually have families, relatives, and other survivors who lived through those times and told us what had happened according to their own experiences, so we definitely have a more complete understanding about that part of history.

@@ochezzche3445 you're assuming that I'm Japanese? Also the government hasn't told me anything. I actually dated an Uyghur girl who absolutely hates China for what they have done and continue to do to her people. The Uyghur and the Tibetans don't want the Chinese controlling them, they want them out of their lands. The Chinese government won't even let you use RU-vid or Facebook out of fear, so how can you trust what they tell you? Even the people of Hong Kong don't want the Chinese there. What the Japanese did to the Chinese was absolutely horrible and should never have happened, but the Chinese can't pretend like China is completely innocent and only japan has done evil things. Also, I highly doubt that you have anything to do with the suffering of the Tibetan people, it wouldn't make sense for you to apologise to them, rather the Chinese government should apologise after they get out of Tibet.

I think it's terrible that Japanese people are not being educated about the unspeakable crimes in the past. How can they even talk about the relationship to China in an elaborate way, if they don't know the key reason of the tensions between the countries. As a German I learned about our WWII crimes and I'm even trying to talk about it with people when I see nationalism growing too strong in their countries, to warn them. Japan is a mature industry nation that should face it's past and take the responsibility. Many Chinese people told me that they do not only feel sad and angry about the crimes, but also about the fact that Japanese people are not teaching their students about it and even honour their WWII soldiers in an official celebration. As a Chinese I would feel deeply disappointed too.

@bobopro1628
@bobopro1628 6 лет назад
Wars never have victors, only losers. Summing up crimes from the other side doesn't excuse your own wrong doings. Right wing extremists are denying the crimes committed by Germany and blame other countries for theirs. This is a shame and an insult to the families that have suffered from Germany's mistakes. If Germany didnt attack East and West and sacrificed all their soldiers for a megalomaniac imperialistic plan, then there wouldnt have been any Russian soldiers nor British bombs on German soil. Blame and prejudice only lead to more nationalistic hatred. We should see our own flaws and try to understand the other side. Not the other way around! Thats the Christian way and also the Buddhist way btw. It seems like you want to defend our country by pointing with fingers at others. This is not the type of defense, that we need. It only leads to more hatred and blame into both directions. It supports nationalists who are using these arguments to attack foreigners in their own country. This is how everything started in the first place. So we should learn from history and avoid repeating the whole craziness over and over again.?

I have been to the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall. Because of the large number of people in China, you often need to raise your volume to have a conversation, but everyone was very quiet when I went in that day. I was very sad that day. On this matter, Japan has until 2023 This incident, including the comfort women incident, is still not recognized. The German government is also the country that launched World War II. They actively admit their mistakes and compensate the victimized countries. The Chinese do not need compensation, and they must apologize. Most of these comfort women are already 90 years old. Death has not yet received an apology from the Chinese government. The Japanese government is still enshrining the Yasukuni Shrine, a place where Class A war criminals of World War II are worshipped, which shows that Japan's militarism is still very strong.

Some stories from Singapore/Malaysia’s Chinese perspective:- My grandparents survived the 4-year Japanese occupation in Singapore/ Malaya in early 1940s. When I was little (around 6 yo), I asked my grandpa why there is a deep wound at his lower back near where his spine is, It’s so deep that I was able to put my thumb into it. Later I found out from my dad it’s pierced through by a bayonet by Japanese soldier. I also heard that my grandpa was one of the few survivors in his village because he happened to be a good chef. My grandma, usually taciturn but kind. She never mentioned a word about the war to grandchildren. During her old age (around 80years old) and she was suffering from dementia, whenever she saw me, she would whisper, “ hey grandson, be careful, they (Japanese) are hiding at the corner (my grandparents lived in the deep jungle for two years hiding) , let me go kill them for you!” and she would proceed to the kitchen and bring out kitchen knive, stood at the front door with posture that she’s ready to fight them with her feeble hands that’s still trembling”. I wrote this with a heavy heart especially I felt bad for my grandma, why she held this trauma so tightly that’s inflicted her for so long and never expressed any anger. And it’s only towards the end of her life all the horror images just kept replaying in her mind came back to haunt her. I don’t hate Japanese but My message to everyone who reads this is to have an idea the trauma of a war could have inflicted the person for decades.. World peace .. pray for no more wars... price too high to pay Btw My grandma has a nice name “Xie Qiao Zhuang” 谢巧莊 (born 1912 in swatow) She’s not educated but she has a big heart- for eg, when others suffered from hunger, she would donate her savings to them to buy foods... Hope she ascends to heaven..

Speaking as a Chinese, I too want China & Japan get along well (and all countries as well). We were taught about the war history here, and we are constantly told to remember the history. So quite often, we have negative sentiment towards Japan (especially when the Japan leaders denied what happened during the war and vist the temple). But I think this video delivered an very important message: don't judge people based on their nationality, but judge them based on their actions and character. China and Japan are both great countries. I grow up watching Japanese cartoons, playing Nintendo, used Sony Walkman, Canon & Nikon cameras. I think it's important for the world to unite in harmony. During the honeymoon period of the relationship between China and Japan, due to Japan's well-developed cultural industry, a considerable number of young Chinese have complicated feelings towards Japan (culturally fond of Japan, but politically hostile). Because the war history is very close (1931-1945), and there is no apology, and now Japan is more inclined to rely on the United States to offset China's influence, which is unreliable politically and militarily, even for Chinese people who have a good impression of Japanese culture, if you show this tendency, you will still be spurned by your compatriots.,you will know this by flipping through the comment area. But for ordinary people, the benefits of the union of the three East Asian countries(economic, cultural, and other aspects) are really tempting.We humans are still too susceptible to ideological influence (sad).Quarrels on the Internet are nothing. People who like to quarrel can quarrel over anything. Loud doesn't mean it's right.

The people that want it whitewashed are right wingers in organizations like the Nippon Kaigi, that don't represent the views of the general population. @@bluaethyr Actually Tiananmen Tank is widely known in China.When I was in middle school, students started discussing it outside of class,there are also students in politics class who use it as a satirical meme. For this reason, I also made a special trip to Beijing to interview a local relative, who was present at the time of the incident. I got a lot of details and shared them with my classmates. Almost everyone who knows will not deny the incident, and most also take the student's position. But many people in Japan are unaware of their history incident, or are covering up Nanjing's past, from questioning the numbers a few years ago to denying the whole event now. There are even extremist nationalists who think they are doing the right thing. This is an atrocity rare in human history, enough to make everyone indignant, yet it is so whitewashed.

How about that cover up by a Chinese company Foxxcon about their 3 employees suicide due to high stress they suffered simply because Foxxcon wanted to meet their product quotas with Apple computer, I suppose you will think that as fake too? My point is it's not about the West, nor Chinese or any nationalities. It is about how can we, as a human being, prevent all of this from happening all over again as history told. You and I and the rest of people who agree to disagree on these commentaries will not be able to stop these from repeating itself but we have a moral obligation to search and tell the truth. Somehow my dad and relatives never hold vengeful feelings towards them. They showed me how to move on. Let history be just history. My dad even showed me the good side of Japan. He encouraged me to learn from their good behavior and work ethics. He never wanted me to hate them. I met some Japanese in my life. I think they are fine people. It is always good to move on. British destruction of Indian economy under its rule - to say nothing of Brit drug lord policies in early 1800s in China. None of it is addressed by the UN. The victors write the rules…. I visited the museum for the Nanjing Massacre and it still haunts me to this day. No words can describe the horrors I saw and felt. It was even more brutal than what I experienced at the concentration camp museums in Germany. I can understand that the Chinese are still suffering great heartache and outrage over it. That being said, I will also never forget the bone chilling impression I got at the end of the museum tour in Nanjing from the absolute hate I felt from the Chinese towards the Japanese. It terrified me! Genuine thirst for blood and vengeance. It turned from a beautiful, devastating, reverent reminder to honor the dead to a passioned, promise of retaliation. That was the impression I got anyway. It made me want to leave China right away, despite how much I love the country and the people I met there. I hope with all of my heart that Japan will be able to acknowledge and answer to the crimes they committed - sooner than later. Maybe then the Chinese can allow themselves to heal and begin to see that the actions of the Japanese officials and soldiers does not reflect the nature of the rest of Japanese people - at least not from my experiences with them.

Best comment. I think the Japanese owe it to the Chinese to admit their mistake (as the Germans did) and seek forgiveness rather than try to erase their brutality from the history book. It is this SECOND mistake (refusing to admit the wrong doing in the past) that is causing the Chinese's blood to boil in them. In Europe, they were able to move on because the Germans admitted their mistake and even pass a law against Nazism. Whither Japan??? Why, oh why, Japan do you not admit your mistake instead of trying to erase it from history books? Admit, repent, apologize and move on.

So these children became “Japanese orphans”. They were all raised and protected by Chinese families. Japanese are such nice and smart people. Really if everybody was thinking like that, peace would be everywhere

I visited both countries and have the background to give my experience: Government hate each other, but younger citizens don't. I got treated in Japan very well not mattering where exactly I was. But I was always interested in Japan and researched a lot about how to behave and speak in Japanese. Chinese elder people are recalling things about past history and have a strong opinion about Japanese. But younger Chinese don't care that much and still like to travel in Japan and enjoy the culture more. As a young person by myself I honestly don't care about history and what happened and what the media are saying. I will continue visiting both countries and only try to become friends with younger people and just behave how a tourist should. People really should stop watching the biased news which only talk negative about China/Japan/whatever country and just talk with the normal citizen in their age group. Because of media and governments there is so much hatred going on between countries which are connected by tons of topics too.
