We Japanese learn about Nanjing massacre. When the teacher taught the history, she showed us a video of that case and seriously emphasized that Japan used to do such a horrible thing and we must not forget about it. I keep that in mind. I'm sorry for that on behalf of Japanese.

japan came from a long way. i think it is fine that china shouldn't forget this but i never knew how messed up was chinese propaganda movies were. China is openly promoting hatred and isn't that messed up...when i was young, my chinese parents made us watch those chinese showers to teach me and my brother chinese. saw many anti japanese movies. Also i never knew nationalism could get this bad. China use this to enslave their own people. They would silence their own people in mass scale worse than death count than the world war. Is china's own government the most evil towards china?

@@hardaatsinghbaath7475 was there a historic event that created that image of Japanese to Indians? or is it something more contemporary? @@fishussugon3215 I think that there are a couple(1-2) of reasons: 1. Japanese Imperial Army had united with Azad Hind Fauj (Indian Independence Army) and fought the Britishers in North-East India during WW2, they almost had recaptured Imphal, but then Pearl Harbour happened, and they drew forces out of Myanmar. 2. They are said to be very well-behaved and thus, respected. Hope that it somewhat satisfied your curiosity (it is good to be curious...)

I'm a Brazilian that lived in Japan for a long time and went to regular Japanese school. I will never forget the day my history teacher lectured about the Nanjing Massacre. The whole class was shocked and listened in absolute silence with a freightened look. From that day on, I started to try to study about history in another way, because the story of the winning side is never the same as the losing side. That doesn't mean that the losing side is always telling the truth, so the best you can do is look into historical documents and judge for you own. I believe most of Japanese didn't have a teacher like mine that had the courage to bring up that episode. And I thought extremely positive what he did. My view of the Japanese citizens didn't change a bit, but my view of war stories in general changed immensely.

Yes,the history should be watched in many sides, the losing side ,the winning side and the third side. Then you can know the history more completely and then think of which side is correct and which side is wrong and how can we learn from these history.Chinese people don’t want want something from Japan due to the this history,we just want they know and acknowledge this history and say what their ancestors did in Nanjing were wrong. That’s this.

I am a Chinese. I want to share a family memory. Around Chinese New Year 1938, Imperial Japanese soldiers occupied the city where I lived. My grandmother was nine years old. Several Japanese soldiers lived in their grandmother's house. One of them had been a watchmaker before he went to war. He was a very kind man and would often bring out some tins for my grandmother to eat. He would cry every time he showed pictures of his wife and children. He did not want to fight, but the Japanese government forced him to join the war. Finally, he was killed in a military operation. I think the Japanese government should apologize for what it did, not only to the countries that were invaded, but also to the Japanese people. I believe that only in this way can they be forgiven and welcomed by all.

My family was from the north east of Shandong province, it’s an area very close to Beijing. During the war time, my great grandfather was captured by the Japanese military and sent to the north east of China (currently Jilin province) as a slave. He worked in a forest farm and was tortured by the Japanese military on a daily basis. My great grandfather passed away in 2015. His mind was not very clear in his final years, he can’t even recognise his own grandchildren, but he constantly tells us the story about his days as a slave worker in Jilin. This is the greatest trauma in his lifetime, and this will always be a tragic memory of my family.

As an Italian I can assure that we are really ashamed about our fascist past and that we sided with the Germans and the Japanese in WW2. At school, textbooks state clearly: fascists committed crimes against humanity. Germans are also really ashamed of what they have done and denying Holocaust would result in a criminal prosecution and several years in prison. Now, where is this sense of shame in Japan? Is visiting Yasunuri shrine going to improve things? Textbooks? A true apology would be to do exactly as the Germans did: kneel down, ask forgiveness, build a few memorials and don't hide crimes anymore! Also don't forget that a lot of Japanese people agree with their government stance on this and other issues (like whaling).

Just to clarify one thing which may or may not cause some misunderstanding, the TV show the guy was talking about at around 00:45 is 抗日 (kangri) drama. To be specific, it refers to China's struggles against the Japanese army during WWII. Personally I think it's a bit off to label it as anti-japan show, because t's not just some generic anti-Japan material. Rather, most kangri shows focuses on Chinese heroism during the war, and is more about heroism and sacrifices than about anti-Japan. The theme of Kangri is mostly focused only on that one period of time in history.

The 3 uniting is next to impossible because of bad blood! Japan’s nationalism is pissing China and korea. South Korea and North Korea are still technically at war with North hating Japan just as much as south korea and china or even more! China think they are number one when they haven’t even hit their own Great depression yet and with their communistic leader backing up North Korea for the Nukes, you seriously have a loose screw if you’re hopeful that they will unite! The only way they would even consider uniting was if their was some alien invasion and would need to unite to defeat a common foe! Even then, you think Aliens would even think about communicating with lesser beings like us that only know barbarism and greed? Nope they prolly just sit back and watch us destroy each other and take our resources or wait till were better as a whole humanity! So good luck on your hopeful wishes!

I’m from Hiroshima (guangdao) and my grandma survived that nuclear attack. she was so lucky. when I was little she told me that we did a lot of evil things against China, Korea, Philippines etc. she told me that’s why my town got attacked. And our teachers told us something similar. So many of us think that it was our fault. Then why our government don’t officially apologize them for the evil things like Nanjing Massacre or comfort women issue? I guess it’s because they don’t want us to get along with China and South/North Korea. You know there’re a lot of U.S. military bases in Japan. They want those military bases to keep working as it keeps rising their military budget. Just because it’s their business. The more we dislike each other the more they make money. It’s called “military industrial complex”. It’s the ugliest side of the capitalism.

We should not blame the japanese people for not knowing what their education system never taught them. instead we should invite them to learn without demonizing them so that they can understand, so that they can feel the meaning and weight of what it will be when we forgive them for their ancestor's crimes. so that we can grow together. we have been part of a network for thousands of years. before lines were even drawn up in europe. how come they have EU for decades already and we are no where near AU? disgraceful, we should address the past sufficiently so we can finally let it go behind us, then we can work together.

I suspect there are museums in China dedicated to events like the Nanjing massacre and the like. Are there any tourist agencies dedicated to Japanese tourists to visit such museums? I think the younger generations in Japan would be curious about learning more, but their government and education system is run by older generations who refuse to admit fault, so they don't teach students thw history about it. Many people here in Europe travel to the holocaust museum located in the former Auscwitz concentration camp to learn more about what happened. I think japanese visitors to such a museum would be beneficial for the relations between the chinese and japanese people, and influence public opinion in Japan about getting the government to admit what happened instead of trying to sweep it under the rug.

that's the problem, japanese aren't curious about what their ancestors did in ww2 except that they were nuked by USA,they focus on the "we're the victim" part. go watch any videos interviewing young japanese about what they did in ww2,they choose to neglect, act like those things never happened.and while chinese visit japan a lot, japanese almost never choose china as a tourist destination,so you would know how many people actually go to these museums imagine owner of a hotel chain wrote a book denial holocast and put it in every hotel room he own,and after israel protest, they say german honor "freedom of speech",and refuse to remove the book, and many germans write letters to show their support for owner:that's what happened in 2017.japantimes: "Apa takes flak from China over books in its inns denying Nanking Massacre"

Simon William. They don't "neglect" it, they just don't know about it. I don't think you understand how tightly Japanese authorities keep a lid on events like the Nanjing massacre. Aside from the nukings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the japanese education system and media pretty much gloss over the whole of WWII. It's hard to become curious about something if you don't even know it exists or has happened. The language barrier also plays a part. It's not like the average Japanese person can just stumble across it on google, like a European citizen can do with the holocaust.

There is also another kind of situation: the domestic news has reported certain news and the news boomed on the internet. However, in the next day this news will disappear because of censorship. Japanese government have apologized to China several times for the war between 1937 and 45 in China and have been paying so much money for the economical and technical aid to China as the compensation, which is probably not well known in China. On the contrary, we (not Chinese) know what Chinese Communist Party had done to its people in 20th century, which included couples of the worst massacres in human history. The reliable history studies revealed estimated 65 or 80 millions people had been killed by Mao Zedong and Chinese Communist Party.

@@starshipdriver8536 I see but you know something Karma does exist believe it or not and nobody can't escape that for example just because dictatorship might feel and think they're powerful by getting away with everything that's BS because in this life what goes around comes around twice as hearts.

malika nuur Too bad many Chinese are brainwashed to never forget Japanese atrocities from 70 years ago, yet seem unaware of present Chinese atrocities like falun dafa organ harvesting. Present day Japanese had nothing to do with Nanjing massacre, but live organ harvesting is being done NOW by Chinese government on their own people!

All these young people sound more knowledgeable and respectful than when U.S. college kids from these universities get interviewed. Thats just the impression i get from most of the college kids i see interviewed here.

As much as Chinese and Korean wants Japanese to understand their war crimes, we Vietnamese also hope all these three countries understand their war crimes in Vietnam

It's hard to get sincere apologies from our politicians. I read a book called Pachinko. It talks about the Japanese occupation of Korea in the early '900. It's sad that the Japanese government still denies having committed crimes in the early 900s and during WW2. US, Korea and Japan also committed war crimes during the Vietnam War. My country has also committed horrendous crimes in the past, it apologized and offered reparations to the victims. But no apology or repair will ever be enough for what happened. I live in Europe and in the recent weeks everything has become surreal. Everywhere I go everyone talks about the war. On the news they show bodies lying on the streets every day. Today I saw the Bucha massacre in the news. It was horrendous. Let's not let our politicians make us hate each other, but let's try to get along.
