Very cool - I actually just love the marble look in the beginning too.. If you want to capture that for a background you can place the cardstock onto it then scrape off the excess shaving cream

This brings back memories. Use to work with children under 5ys and we did this with them. Only used kids paints, they loved it. Use to lay paper on top to pull prints off. Guarantee by the end their hands would be in it. Great fun.

Hello everyone! I really enjoyed learning this technique. Thank you! 🌺🌸 **Tip: I use my reverse tweezers when I emboss (I believe that’s what they are called) to hold my card stock so that I will not burn my fingers. I’m certain most crafters already do this, but I thought I would throw it out there for those that didn’t know.

hi there! the way i had learned and have done this it to put a pile of the shaving cream on a plastic plate, add some reinker drops and gently swirl it around. then you would put your card layer face down into it (pushing only about 1/3 of the way into the pile) and then lift it up. not leaving it in the shaving cream for very long. then wipe off the shaving cream and you have a swirly ink design on the card stock. i have a question about the way you are doing it. you use the shaving cream through a stencil and you don't wipe off the shaving cream from the card layer. what happens to the shaving cream? does it go hard like a paste or absorb into the card layer so it is not long a texture on the card front? i am very curious! i want to try this but i need to know what to expect! lol i'm just not that daring! thanks again for a great video! its always nice to be reminded of things you learned way back but no longer do! merry christmas to you and yours!

Hi Sheryl, If you watched the end of the video, I show the cards after they are dryed. I know the shaving cream technique you describe--this is simply a slightly different way of doing it. The stenciling process removes most of the ink and shaving cream as I show in the video. Techniques like this are ones you probably just need to try to get a feel for! :)
@sheryl5252
@sheryl5252 2 года назад
@@TheCreativityCave hey there! thanks for answering. i did watch the video to the end and i just watched it again in its entirety just now. i see the technique looks smooth in the finished product but i am just having trouble with the in between steps! lol forgive me! so you said the process removes most of the ink and shaving cream. so there is still some on the paper? i guess i am just wondering if you had to wipe off the remaining or did it just evaporate. anyway, i think i will try it this way and find out for myself. thanks again for posting the video...

I like your take on this technique, & how little you need to create the backgrounds. I've only ever seen it used with a Roasting Tin, or a new Car litter tray. I can't help but wonder how much would be wasted doing it that way. I love how they have come out. I would be hard pressed to say which colours I liked besr. Is there anything else you can use instead of the re-inkers for the colour, if you don't have any? Thank you for sharing the technique. Being an Asthmatic I was wondering how much smell there is or if they make a totally knackered one? I feel that this would be something I would look is to have a go at. Especially now I know I wouldn't have to wastemuch.
@TheCreativityCave
@TheCreativityCave 2 года назад
Hi Nona, I don't know what knackered means, but I have no idea about a "low smell" version of the shaving cream. I literally pulled it from my husband's cabinet! LOL! As for coloring, as a stamper, the reinkers are what I have--but I suspect it would work with watercolors--I just have never tried that.
@nonalaughton9326
@nonalaughton9326 2 года назад
@@TheCreativityCaveI am so sorry. This will teach me to read what I have written in future. Knackered means totally wiped out, or shattered from doing too much. But it should have said unscented (shaving foam) 😂 I have several ink pads but they don't have re-inkers to go with them. I don't have the tubes of Watercolours but have some Acrylic paints left over from an attempt at Acrylic pouring. So I might try those to see if they work x

No-the sugar in cool whip would cause lots of problems (you don’t want moldy cards!) I would have to believe there is a fragrance free version, or else work on this project outdoors.

I recently went shopping for unscented mens’ antiperspirant and discovered THERE’S NO SUCH THING! I was in shock! Men apparently require their antiperspirants to have scent. I’m telling you this because now that I know that I suspect there’s prolly not unscented shaving cream, either. (Though WHY companies scent products meant for our faces, I have NO clue! I’m getting itchy just imagining all the sensitivities out there that I may end up with hives. 😰) Just know before going out shopping that this could potentially be an unfulfilling trip.
@Binkles
@Binkles 2 года назад
Besides the mold problem, there’s fat in that stuff that’d make greasy marks on the paper. 😕 You know what you might try is mousse. (You know: for your hair.) That may work in lace of shaving cream. Good luck finding an unscented one, though; companies seem to feel scent is required in most toiletries. 😞

I've never used the stencil technique this before so I have a question. The old way was to lay the cardstock right on the shaving cream (we used glossy cardstock) and then scrape off the excess. We were left with the colored pattern in the glossy cardstock and it was very smooth and no need to dry it. With the stencil, you have raised areas as if you were using embossing paste. What do they look like after they're dried? Do they get powdery and rub off? Just wondering.

Perhaps not mix the colors so much on the shave cream since they mix on the card

Pity you didn't turn the stencil over & press onto a clean sheet of paper to get the pattern in reverse.

@@TheCreativityCave I apologize. I missed that you were aware. I often make simple mistakes and was hoping to keep you from trouble. I did not intend to offend.

Some reason this popped up while scrolling and I gotta ask, how do what? How do learn english? 🤣 Come on, presentation of how you write your video title is the easiest part of making a video.

Thanks so much for pointing out my mistake tired mama! You sure are a lovely human being! I suppose commenting from the cheap seats is probably the easiest part of watching a video! And can it be assumed you’ve never had a type-o anywhere, anytime? I sure hope you loved my video, but I’m guessing you didn’t even watch it!
