Friends, prisons in the world vary a lot, and absolutely not all inmates have equipment to train. Sometimes they do the workouts solely in their own cell, applying creativity to do the variety of exercises. However, even those who have the opportunity to train - they don't really have that much variety of equipment, far from what a person has in the gym - but with that alone they get quite good physique. What is the secret?
The first factor and the biggest factor is the environment. The prison environment when you are surrounded by other men who are strong and potentially violent - creates psychological tension. That psychological tension is the most important thing for muscle growth, and we've talked about that several times before - because the signal for testosterone and growth hormone production is emitted by the brain. So even doing the same exercises, but in two different types of environment - can result in different results. Prison is something similar to how our ancestors lived. You always have to be alert, there is always danger, you always have to be ready for any situation.
Just that made me think one day, after watching a video. Obviously, no healthy person is going to want to go to jail, but I thought - what could it be to recreate this environment? In almost no gym you will not achieve this environment at all, with all the machines, little musician, it seems more like a place to spend vacations than a hard place to feel under pressure to fight and give your all. And when I found this place I had no doubt that these conditions will make you grow more.
You are practically in a cage, many weights and equipment are improvised, not many people and also those who go are dedicated, music is always something that can wake up even a dead person. Those who pass by on the street there generally go to the party, and they look at you like a madman who with his example protests all this. When you arrive you feel that it is the place to fight and become stronger. With this environment I did feel a tremendous difference, and how it started to accelerate my progress.
So friends, the environment is the key to the keys, when there is no imminent danger or something that creates pressure or something that somehow recreates the harsh environment - one can only ask oneself because there are almost no results.
But what other factors are there that make inmates so muscular? Well, another big factor is rest - in modern life a human receives far less rest than he needs. Or he goes to party on the weekends, stays up late and says the rest was good. Obviously, inmates do not suffer from these life problems. They have the opportunity to rest as much as necessary so that the body recovers well. Rest is just as important as training, so if there is no rest forget about any progress.
But if they eat so little, why do they grow? This may not apply to all prisons in the world, but at least in several countries they do not eat little - they eat what is necessary. To grow one does not have to happen with a full belly, in fact it is the opposite. Hunger is what awakens the animal in us, it is something that makes us hunt and be more alert. When we get food, the body applies it to our needs and if the body needs more muscle to survive, it will build more muscle. Someone who goes around with a full belly all day on the couch or in the chair is going to have low testosterone and growth hormone hormones because the body has absolutely no signals either with a question of food or with a question of exercise.
Someone who has been with that perseverance for 5-10 years, you can say it, because they are muscular very well worked with time. That is why they perceive inmates that way. Someone who has been lifting weights for a few months may be able to gain some volume, but it is not the same muscle tissue as someone who has been doing it for years.
So, friends, what exercises do they do? There are so many improvised things, when there is no opportunity to have weights, they use their partner's weight or something heavy they can find. In the best case they have parallel bars or a bar for chin-ups. As they have no ballast, and only body weight - to continue increasing muscle mass they have to greatly increase the intensity of the exercises.
