WHO AM I:
My name is Charlie and I am disabled. I live with chronic illness, I have a severe form of Psoriatic Arthritis and its crap! I am in pain all the time and always battling fatigue. BUT, I will not let it win. I love to learn and to laugh (even though it hurts my arthritic rib cage LOL). You will often see Ollie (she) my black Labrador. She is currently my trainee assistance dog! We are together, literally ALL the time.

Must admit, even though I am disabled myself, I feel that this should be in the Daily Living section rather than the Mobility Section. Seems odd that someone who can't go out scores more points than someone that can walk between 20 and 50 metres. You can also get a blind person running a marathon getting more points than someone that can walk between 20 and 50 metres. Seems very unfair to me

My son is already worried about the news of attacking PIP claimants and he has copious medical records to back up his many issues after encepalitis/ABI. But any dealings with DWP causes him massive problems. On initial application, he was one of those who were awarded Zero points but awarded enhanced PIP after I helped him to take the caswe to tribunal. NB we were helped by an experienced Headway staff member with the orginal form. I am already researching for the next reassessment and found your channel. I want to thank you for some very clear advice, which I hope will help with our next encounter with the DWP, whatever form that takes.

Charlie, thank you for your videos, I have a few serious conditions and have just received the 44 page PIP application form, shortly after receiving a letter saying I have 14 days to complete the form. I feel more comfortable trying to fill the form out after seeing your vlog

It's gonna be a very stressful time for people on PIP in the coming 6 to 12 months. Sunak is gonna throw Disabled people under the Bus and If Labour gets elected Keir Starmer has also said he wants to reform the Welfare System. My guess is that all people on PIP for mental health reasons will be reassessed and almost certainly lose it or be downgraded.

My son was judged as ‘E’. I told them that he’s made some journeys albeit not many in his life, so I was surprised and I believe it’s due to being the MAJORITY of the time.

I have a diagnosis of cyclical vomiting syndrome - imagine the worst WORST food poisoning you’ve ever had and you’d be ‘close’. There’s no cure, no meds and very little is known about so it’s a case of suck it up buttercup. There are no triggers. Episodes can last for up to 4/5 days during which I cannot get out of bed, I can’t keep water down. I frequently can’t keep appointments as I do not know from one day to the next. I’m obviously quite underweight (5’7” and vary between 6 stone to 8.5 and getting back to that is a case of literally force feeding myself as if I had episodes in a row well I’d just waste away completely). My question is how do you answer questions when you simply cannot give them “3 days a week I can’t even get to the loo”. My question is how do you go about answering pip questions when the answers vary between ‘

Looks as I’ll have to reassess myself! I’ll have a relative take me on unfamiliar journeys(ie hospitals.. DWP appointments..independent medical assessments etc)..I was assessed many years ago as word blind at Sheffield Uni but no paper to show as such..and when I’ve tried going on unfamiliar journeys I’ve got completely lost, if it says take left or right can and has confused me..the journey will panic me..I rarely go on holiday or day trips due to this..and my food shop is delivered..and if I have to go on my own for appointments I’ll either really consider cancelling or go to the unfamiliar place a few times before the appointment to completely reassure myself. And on the day I’ll go well we’ll in advance of the appointment time..

There's an entire family near us who claim for everything they can, and get everything, and none have them have ever worked. This lot can plan their route to the pub every day, all day, and then plan how to get to the betting shop over the road. My ESA pays for our bills, and my PIP goes on food. It's just wrong.

I have periods when I can quite regularly to places that I know and other periods when I cannot leave the house at all. I have been told that having a variable condition is still a valid condition for PIP so dont let them tell you otherwise

I'm just so worried right now after having my telephone consultation Saturday bank holiday and now just four days later getting a text saying I have another telephone consultation again in fifteen days!!! Does this mean the assessor failed so I have to go through it again!?! the stress has got me throwing up every day, it's terrible they don'y give me a reason so I can try to defend myself better or get help.

I've never understood why I always score zero in 'mobility', until now. It's because I do that "good day" thing and, insist on picking my prescription up every two weeks, so I leave the house a couple times a month at least. I did tell them I usually go on the last day, because managing without psychiatric drugs is worse than going out. But I've never stressed that enough. I don't think I should get mobility but scoring zero can't be right.

You know what the funny thing about the mobility section is? If you have mobility issues and drive prior to your decision, in their eyes you can do everything and they award little or no points because you can drive! However, if you don’t drive they can award you points to get a mobility car?

Hi Charlie, Thanks for your useful information. Recently, I have received enhanced rate for both parts of pip. But l'm not happy with the points which the decision maker has given for some questions in daily living section. According to what I have explained them in assessment, I expected to get at least 4 points but they have given me 2 points for some questions. I have enhanced pip which is so good but I'm wondering ,if I can ask them to have a look at my assessment report by mandatory reconsideration request ?? Will it help me to increase some points?

Do not do that. Wait till the next review. If you got enhanced on both then you are good for now. Did you know in your current situation if you were to do a mandatory application it's possible they may go through your file and say they gave you higher points on other things that should be lower and you may lose your enhanced pip. Leave it for now and wait till your next review.👍

Hi Charlie, please can you say WHERE we should address the form to, if we don't use the pre-paid envelope? I checked on the Royal Mail website, and you can't post to a freepost address using special/recorded delivery!

That’s not true, I sent my daughters pip form recorded delivery I told them at the p/o I know it says freepost but i want to pay to have it sent recorded, they can’t deny you that. Hope this helps 🩵 I used the envelope aswell and they stuck the recorded delivery sticker on the envelope I got my receipt 🧾 and they received it no issues and she got awarded :)

The trouble is my local Post Office is run by... um... unhelpful people and I have to rely on my paranoid schizophrenic husband to go into the PO for me (I can't get up the steps into the building!) and my hubby isn't good with any sort of confrontation. If they put up ANY resistance, he'll cave!

@@TitianTopsyTurvy. Hello, I just tried to see what I can find for you on Google. Apparently, you can go online to Royal Mail fill out a few questions and pay for it online. And they will collect it from your house and bring a label for your parcel and a receipt. Bear in mind it says parcel. But I did see in some paragraphs it says parcel and letters. But do confirm this from your end if you can. Maybe try phoning your local post office to ask them directly. Phone more than one if necessary. All the best 👍

@@TitianTopsyTurvy. Once again, bear in mind that when I was looking this up for you, many times it stated we'll pick up the parcel. And sometimes it came up as parcel and letters. If nothing comes up as letters, then maybe try selecting it as a parcel and pay the fee, then wait for the collection day and tell the person you want this letter to be delivered. And it did say the person would turn up with the label for your recorded delivery and a receipt for you. Hopefully , it will work out for you. All the best 👍 👍

You don’t look well, bless you. Try and take it more gently. I cannot leave my house. The GP and Psychiatrist/cardiologist do home visits. I have a substantial NHS Continuing Healthcare package. A long term support worker took me for emergency dental extraction. It was the first time in decades. They still don’t get it.
