I watched your entire playlist. From an overview perspective--thank you. But I would like to request more specific information regarding HOW to use epic. If you can create a lab or video that shows people how to use it as if this were a live environment -- that would be extremely valuable.

@sandwichbox sorry, extremely late to this post. You would need to take training through a hospital.

I am a LPN. I want to become epic trainer certified or informatics . I have been a LPN for 20 years. 2014-2015 I worked with a clinic that went with epic and I helped teach. For the last 7 years I have been working a ENT clinic with all scripts and it is horrible. I want to find remote jobs that I can get with having epic certification. I want to get my foot in the door but I feel like I cannot with out the certification. Can you give me advice? Thank you

Yes, I just released a DIY course where you get over $800 worth of content for free and a 30 minute session. It is a job prep course for getting Epic jobs. I interview many candidates for these roles so you get that perspective too. Please check out more details here: johnfaulkner.thrivecart.com/fast-track-your-job-search/

what is an epic analyst? what do they actually do? are they just a data analyst? do you modify the UI? do you setup the menu systems and the input and output fields and format? i'm having a really hard time getting anything more than just a vary basic vague description. i do have background in coding, databases, GIS, IT, troubleshooting, etc...

They build the Epic Electronic Health Record for hospitals that purchase the product from Epic out of Verona, Wisconsin. We modify user interfaces, improve workflows in the system, layout of buttons and documentation. Source code changes is not part of what we do. That is owned by Epic. We help hospitals with the out of the box software/licenses they purchase and then customize it for them with feedback from the hospital staff that uses it to document patient care. Hope that helps clarify, if not, let me know!

@@YourEpicCoach i've seen a few people say they "build" the record. somehow i don't think that term is being used correctly and descriptively. building a record to me would mean adding the data, doing the input, but that is not what an analyst does. EPIC is out of the box, so someone else coded it as you noted. but you are saying there is customization, ok good, so modifying user interface is part of it. i take it then you are defining the elements (the cells, the variables) of the database, its structure? or has that also already been done primarily by EPIC? and adding to it and changing it as management and doctors, etc require. so you have research scientist, doctors, financial people of the hospitals etc who need you to pull data and organize it in ways that is presentable and useful for them to see patterns and trends? add things to screens to get more information from the people on the ground inputting data about patients so as to get more research? .. ok so then workflows .. i.e. the ease of inputting the information into the system by the nurses, etc... i.e automating requests that are often repeated... are you working primarily in with "clarity" then? do you ever get into "chronicles"?

@eaudesolero5631 The term is being used correctly and is widely used within the Epic community. We receive the product from Epic and build the EHR for the hospital by plugging in values to populate within the software that end users see and document each day. Epic comprises Master Files (INIs) aka 'Databases,' hundreds of them that are owned by Epic Analysts within the modules. The structure was created by Epic, we as analysts customize the items within it for hospital staff. I am in Chronicles every day as an Epic Analyst. Clarity is still used for reporting within Epic but will eventually go away with Reporting Workbench Reports being developed that can be run ad hoc using SQL. It is much more complicated than above but should give you a better idea.
