Today's OUT OF THE BOX thinking was:
(different from everyone else)
#1 Make them REACT - this week I put a heavier weight on.
#2 Be more STEALTHY - Stay 5ft further way. Give yourself a safer distance, make longer presentations.
#3 I covered more water than everybody else.

What’s the difference between CATTAILS and BULRUSHES?! Let me know what you think! 👇
@rolandtexbutler1063
@rolandtexbutler1063 3 года назад
Bullrushes seem to grow in a little more deeper water than cattails in my experience...and cattails are a little less dense

This is why I reel left handed. It’s mind boggling how pros will fish a Baitcaster right hand but a spinning rod left hand. Just left hand all the time and avoid the switch of hands!
@mikebailey2119

Edwin, cattails have the cigar shaped head on top. Bass fan the sand of the roots to spawn in and the roots protect the fry. As always great project e on how to fish a crowded lake.🎣🐟🙏

@jimwarncke3787 3 года назад
@@matthewhairell1456 I was taught a long time ago... cast right, reel left. Saves time switching hands all the time. Especially if a Bass hits your bait hard while you are switching hands, and you almost loose a rod. I see many pros switching hands.

Great job Edwin, you pretty much figured Decker out quickly, outside edge of the cattails is it on that lake most of the time unless you find some offshore grass. Oh ya, and don’t sell yourself short, I would be just as excited to see an Edwin Evers on a local lake as much as a KVD!… Thanks for all your info and your awesome personality towards the sport.

Excellent lesson by sharing your thought process as you fished. Paying attention to how far you were casting when bit & how they were getting bit on the fall. This helped you develop a pattern to duplicate where you can kept flipping & didn't have to work the bait and could cover more water. Being ready when the bait hits the water was another good tip. I like the tip of throwing something different with different fall rate since the pressure was high. Your videos are priceless. Thanks, my friend! Now I'm gonna catch a few more.

Edwin, one of my favorite memories was catching bass in cattails. Lake Hodges in San Diego on a weekend club tournament in 1976. Found one small section in the cattails that had several big bass. I used a motor oil colored worm. Back than I wasn't smart enough to understand why they were in that one area. After seeing your project e videos I sure wish I could go back. I would have probably won that tournament. Thanks Edwin. 🎣🐟🙏

I assume you’re talking about flipping these cat tails? No I’ve never seen a situation where the side scan would pick up fish in this situation. The active target or forward scan is a different story I think I could see them swimming outside the cat tail line.

So when you are running that rig with the clacker on it, do you run a stopper a little ways up or does it stay together and don't have that separation of them on the fall? Awesome stuff watch as much as I can. Ever fish Montana?

Thats similar to the Potomac River and other lakes near DC. Were all the fish shallow or did you mark any deeper? What do you think work better in pressured lakes larger or smaller baits?
@EdwinEversfishing
@EdwinEversfishing 3 года назад
I saw a few fish out deep but I was unable to get them to bite. As far as large or smaller baits that’s what I always have to figure out. Generally speaking in the spring and summer it’s going to be smaller and in the fall I will go big.

Edwin, Walter E. Long/Decker lake to us locals, is NOT a working power planet. The main plant has a sizable crack in the foundation and the only part still working is for transporting the electricity from the solar panel field on the southwest side of the lake. the lake is known for 8-10 lb fish on a regular basis. Flipping the reeds or running a 3/4 oz rattle trap in Gold Sexy Shad, ripping it out of the grass is about the only 2 technics that always work.

@guad512
@guad512 3 года назад
No need to peg with that cover. He’s mostly flipping outside/against the cover in this situation and it doesn’t effect the fall. Usually, peg and increase weight when flipping directly into the thick stuff.
