First time I heard a car's subs 1,000ft away was "simulated iB" in a Chevy Beretta back in 1994. It was awesome how it echoed and set off everyone's car alarms at high school. Gang Run HS VaBeach.

Awesome info! Just installed some 8” HAT L8V2’s in IB in the firewall. Was also apprehensive about cutting holes in my truck but cutting the holes was actually the easiest part. Hardest part was getting the baffles right, mounting the baffles to be solid and sealed, outside protection, rain guard and then trying to make it not look like a complete hack job. My advice to anyone on the fence about going IB is do your homework (watch videos like this) and just go for it. Haven’t turned on my system since the install so I cannot say how much of a difference it is but hopefully soon.

one thing to check out is bass amp, like the instrument..replacement speakers, black widow, scorpion, and so on. as these are often affordable and they usually have good specs for IB

I love the IB design so much that I have 8 15" Jensens from 1955 supplying bass, 10" mid bass and three horns per channel tuned for mid, treble and upper treble into bat hearing freqs. Yes,, the more you tweak you system and hear more things revealed in the music, the more you will experiment. I love music as much as food! My set-up is in the home.

Single 15 in a sealed 2.6 cf enclosure. The box (enclosure) is just pushed up to where the backseat was.... There's nothing in the back of my 2000 Accord sedan. I haven't done any custom fab yet.... The bass sounds good, front windows down, trunk closed.... But the bass is awesome once I pop the trunk... I didn't understand this until I listened to your explanation. My components - 1 -15" Pyle 1000rms/2000peak. Orion (Cobalt) 3200.1D. Lanzar 5 band EQ. 2 -6x9 SoundXtreme. 2 -6.5 SoundXtreme. Pioneer CD radio. I have 2 (I guess they're filters?) to eliminate bass going to the 6.5 in the doors... Awesome informative video on Free-Air.,... I've been wanting to try this set up for my sub/s again for years. 1st go around sucked😂

A good ported or sealed FRONT sub setup (8s or 10s) in combination with a large rear IB setup (15 or 18) is probably an ideal setup. Thats what i'm looking at doing. 10hz - 35hz (give or take) for the IB and 25hz-100 hz (give or take) for the front sub.

Built an IBC for the house theater, 8x 16in subs in a column that mounted in basement for living room. 4plys of 3/4" mdf staggered edges and braced halfway. 4 faced in and 4 faced out. Used a hoist to lift in place. In time id like to do 16subs It was awesome !

There are some inexpensive subs that work well in IB. Then you need a small amp and some wood. Trunk baffle can be cheap, it just takes some time to make a good sealed baffle.

I have a 1972 impala convertible. Im used to ported sub boxes tuned to 33hz. Someone suggested that i go with a sealed box or "simulated" infinite baffle. What do you recommend?
@CarAudioEnthusiasts
@CarAudioEnthusiasts Месяц назад
in that ride, IB is likely a bad idea, UNLESS you can seal off the trunk. in that case itll sound great. sealed will sound great too, but be warned, ported enclosures are far more efficient, though sloppy, so youll have less output with IB or sealed.

Would infinite baffle be possible/feasible under a rear truck seat? That area is always scarce for box size/volume, so just removing the rear half of the box could be useful. Big front baffle that runs width of the of seat, and then side baffles that run along the seat sides. Basically a " [ " shape with no bottom, top, or rear wall. Would it be close enough to a trunk baffle setup? Or would it still be too "connected" to the vehicle cabin, which is already small on a truck? *I should specify without cutting a hole in the cab
@CarAudioEnthusiasts
@CarAudioEnthusiasts 2 месяца назад
sorry that would not be an infinite baffle. but what youre talking about WILL work. the only tough part is getting the seal on the floor of the truck. the sides have to be cut to fit perfect, and you need a thick gasket of rubber, then some screw points to attach it down. "i did one like this behind the seat of a 90s ford ranger, with 2 8s in it" anyway you have to create a sealed space using the floor as the 6th side of the box.
@armedappalachian
@armedappalachian 2 месяца назад
@@CarAudioEnthusiasts thank you for the insight, sir. I was curious because I have the height under my rear seats to fit 12s, but nowhere near enough volume. Looks like sealed 8s are still my plan

@@CarAudioEnthusiasts I've already done a rear seat lift, so I have slightly more room to work with over stock.(2012 Silverado extended cab) I went with two 8" Kicker L7S, mostly from the nostalgia of wanting solobarics when I was a broke teenager into car audio in mid-late 2000s. I'm going to DIY the box since I already have all the tools and some woodworking/cabinet building experience. Not much speaker enclosure experience, but sealed boxes seem fairly forgiving.

I also read and saw videos that said a low Fs (below 30) helps. Any idea why? Maybe a low Fs works better with all the other IB factors to hit lower Hz.

Why is a QTC of 0.7 the best? Why not 0.5?

.707 is the sweet spot for control verus response. .05 would be quite a bit softer, and play more extreme lows easier, but also be more likely to bottom out.
