At that point I would guess you have a decent laptop for Blender as long as you can swallow that price easily 😂. The feel of using a macbook is amazing though, so smooth, great screen and good build quality. I don’t need much power for my tasks on the laptop, getting the pro version was mostly just to future-proof it. I kept my previous macbook pro for 8.5 years, so definitely not heavy tasks. I mostly use it for managing orders for another side-business, accounting and watching youtube. It is also a tax write-off, so might as well get a laptop that feels great to use for a long time. My laptop at work is a windows and a windows desktops runs everything related to this channel, windows laptops always drain the battery over night.
The example $2k laptops you have shown may have a 4080 in it, but may sacrifice on other factors (screen quality, plastic vs aluminium chassis, fan noise, battery life, etc) that affects the overall creative workflow experience. Not to forget, some manufacturers limit the GPU in a Windows laptop due to thermals. They throttle even further when running on battery. Whereas it maintains consistent speeds on a MacBook even on battery.
@@adithya4804 at 1:42, it describes how it compares with other laptops at the same price. Of course, the other laptops with NVIDIA GPU will perform a lot better. That assumes the laptop is connected to a power supply. You won’t get the same performance when running from battery. Although it may still run better the battery will drain quickly. That’s just one example.
Your perspectives is superior worst I have ASUS ROG STRIX SCAR 18 2024 with RTX 4090 GPU it has best performance screen as will as you said battery sacrifice listen I live in big city plug is every where in collage, house, office and some battery saver setting it’s can long 4 to 7 hrs easily in no one live 7 hrs in Coffee shop, those who live in village they must need MacBook because electricity is not available properly, Windows laptop have Also super nice screen don’t forget your MacBook don’t support Pantone validated display your MacBook need external monitor ok while my asus Rog don’t even asus scar 2023 also Remember ASUS ROG laptop have FULL Wattage ok,my laptop never loud ok in rendering time not to much very minor when use unreal engine software your MacBook Pro and high end windows laptop both laptop super loud even that time MacBook Pro also drain out super fast with in 30 min so what’s the point you said ?
Thanks @@saurabhshivamverma4192. The Asus Rog Strix Scar 18 is a very nice laptop - and VERY expensive. Laptops with dedicated graphics cards are often thicker and come with a large, dedicated power supply. So you'll need a large bag to carry your computer around. What happens if you forget your power supply at home? At least with MacBooks or other equivalent ultrabooks you can borrow someone's USB C charger if needed. A few points you've mentioned which I do question. I know that some of the older Intel i9 MacBooks had loud fan noises (due to Intel chips being harder to cool). But battery drain in 30 mins? I doubt that very much (unless the battery is faulty, which would apply to any laptop with faulty batteries). In practice, I have used a MacBook in an all-day workshops without the need of a power supply with some spare power left for next day. Any laptop with 4080s or 4090s are definitely useful for rendering workflows - no doubt about it. But they will drain the battery very quickly. Not to forget such laptop performs slower on battery mode - this usually isn't the case with recent MacBooks with ARM chips. It may not be as much these days, but don't forget Macs and MacBooks were the choices for designers and creativity. It's not just about the screen, battery life, etc but also how the software operates that helps with creativity workflows even further. The point is the presenter made a case by comparing MacBooks with similar priced laptops that sacrifices on build quality, convenience and longevity over performance. It should have been compared with laptops with similar build quality with the added performance - but these are far more expensive.
Unplugged laptops unfortunately aren't fully there yet for rendering work matching desktop GPU, however my solution was simply just getting a decent laptop with long battery life and just remotely connecting into my PC. Works surprisingly well even on a 5G hotspot in a busy area.
I sometimes stream the games from my desktop computer to my mac which works okay for heavy games. Other than that I play Starcraft 2 and Total War games directly on the mac which works fine. Playing it on the Windows desktop computer is always going to be a better experience though.
Depends on what you play and which engine you're using. For Blender, if you're using Eevee any Apple Silicon Mac aside from the M1 & M2 will work great. Which will be even better once Eevee Next arrives with raytracing. I have the M1 Pro game just fine but I'm mostly playing indie games or emulating older games. Most indie games are either available on Mac or can be ran through Crossover
@@tobajuice At the moment yeh. Macbooks may catch-up soon with the next few iterations of Apple chips and more optimization for blender but it's just not there yet.
who buys a 14inch max ?? Are you serious ? That thing overheats left and right and throttles. NO point in getting the 40core, should have gotten a 14/30 16inch
