Does Full Sail require their students to work for an internship? I'm currently on month 11 of the DCBS program Online and we've done job search assignments but I've never thought anything of it.

So I'm finally getting into my real core classes, and starting to learn to design. I'd definitely stick with it, it's going to seem probably easy for awhile, and might even seem pointless but what you learn from the first like 4 months is actually really valuable. Things have been going really good, I just haven't been able to upload with moving into a new house and finally moving my fiance and son in with me, and wifi issues. I'll have more videos up soon so stay tuned, I do have some advice for you. Make sure you're staying really organized and that you soak in as much information as you can. It's going to seem easy at first and then you'll start hitting your core classes around month 5 and it hits hard. Networking with other students is also a good way to keep up to date. By talking with other fellow students, you can develop friendships and possible future opportunities while also having buddies going through the same stuff you are! For the game design program you receive the HP laptop, not the Macbook. However it may differ if you're doing in school studies rather than online. I didn't receive my laptop for 5 months. 2 months into the program I got an iPad from FullSail. Before that I used my old PC. Hope this helps!
About how much time do you have to put in each week for your assignments. I have a really wonky schedule for work and have a wife and 2 children that i need to spend time with as well. So i need to try to figure out time management before i commit to the school.
Hey man, it starts off easy, I was literally flying through my homework and then all of a sudden at the 6th month mark it turned into like 30 hours of work. I work 50-60 hours a week so it's not really working out for me quite that well.
It depends. Do you work a 12 hour day schedule to where you only work 40 hours a week? If you’re only working 40 hours a week I think it’s possible but it’s a lot of work. I worked at my family’s restaurant 12 hours a day, about 6 days a week for most of my class work. I ended up dropping out about 8 months in due to just not having enough free time to get all of my class work done. But I believe if you only work 40 hours a week it’s definitely doable. I’d also recommend looking into other universities that also have online degrees pertaining to game design. SNHU I’ve heard has a good program and is accredited.
@@GooberGoofy It’s 6 in the morning to evening - I get a weekend off every other week. As for during the week, I get Tuesday and Wednesday off after I work the weekend and then when I don’t work the weekend, I work Tuesday and Wednesday and get Thursday and Friday off. It repeats the cycle after that. Do you know anything about 1 am lectures and 4 am labs? I heard that on another video. Finally I work days. I know that’s a lot to read. What would you think?
@@josephmackela8466 so the 1am lectures and the 4am labs are strictly for on campus students, if you’re doing online classes those don’t pertain to your work. Your online work is all done and submitted on that website. As for if it might work with you, I don’t know how easy it would be. Everything worked well with me until you hit the 6 month mark and your class work starts to hit about 45-50 hours of learning/making stuff in programs. It’s a lot of work, so I’d recommend if you do do it, that you look into possibly asking your job for a little more time off while you do school. I’d also very recommend looking into accredited schools that offer the same kind of courses, as I feel an accredited school will be better further down the line for you. You can always go the self taught route as well. Find whatever program you want to start designing with, watch a ton of tutorials and just mess around with it. I’d also recommend looking at Game Design Documents and how they are written. You can go absolutely as far as you want to in either route, I just ultimately chose the self taught route in the end.
@@GooberGoofy I will have to just experiment with programs and do it the self taught way right now. Hopefully that might work. I don’t want to get myself in to something that will be hard to get out of.
@@josephmackela8466 You’ll do great with self taught! Just stay focused, there’s tons of RU-vid tutorials/playlists, and online forums like Reddit with tons of really good information. I hope to see you do awesome things man💛 If you ever remember, give an update of your progress! Good luck
