I saw Rosie O’Donnell when she was first starting out in a club on Long Island. She started asking me questions as part of the act. She asked me several questions about my husband who was very good looking and who was sitting next to me. She was funny and kind. You always know where she stands on things and I appreciate her honesty.
Rosie, in 1996 my sister watched your show because you cheered her up. If you should see this, my biggest regret is that I didn’t contact your show to ask you to call her. She died of cancer in December and how great her pleasure would’ve been to have heard from you. Thanks for the joy you gave her.
She's being kind here...Carol Burnett has been under the show business magnifying glass for almost seven decades...and she's just as kind and genuine today as she was when she started...Ellen was finally exposed for who she really is...which boggles my mind that folks didn't see it much sooner. And for the record-I think Rosie's interviews with folks were so much more personal, empathetic, and genuine than Ellen's.
It's not that deep. We're all flawed individuals. Who cares? Why is this modern society so damn hypocritical, man????🤦 are you all going to judge somebody when you people are human beings yourselves? Doesn't make any damn sense to me. Smh. You all are FAKE FAKE FAKE!!!!!
I didnt like the show because Ellen's funny and kind had a very hateful undertone so I really wasn't suprised when years later things unraveled. My point is, it had nothing to do with timing and I think Rosie is really biting her tongue on this and that's her choice.
@@tj.espygil4544 actually the first phase of Ellen show was really good, fun and refreshing. however later on she has become more and more fake and rarely very funny anymore.
Are you blind?????? I can only imagine what you look like if you think that thing looks good. Don't send blessings to her she doesn't deserve anything good.
I couldn’t watch Ellen’s show from early on. I always felt she liked making people feel uncomfortable and humiliating people. You either picked up on that or not.
Ditto - didn't like the "mean spirit" of the show. Loved the show at first but it became more publicly degrading and humiliating for her staff and guests. Not my cup of tea
Rosie is so kind to not attack Ellen even after she wasn't particularly nice to her. If you watch her interview with Andy Cohen, she references a time when Ellen totally threw her under the bus on Larry King. I know Rosie isn't for everyone, but in my opinion she is the embodiment of a true New Yorker: tough on the outside, soft on the inside.
Your so lovely and gracious and diplomatic the way you spoke of Ellen how kind and fair play to you .I wish you peace and joy with your family god bless from one irish girl to you.x
Rosie, just came across this interview and I want to say I miss your show. I love you so much, I am 73 now and have followed you on T V for years. You always make me laugh. You are looking so great these days. Love to you and I see your kids are growing nicely as every once in awhile I see them on TV with you. Hugs and kisses. Sharon.
If you don't want that "Be Nice" moniker to come back to bite and ruin you, maybe you should have used your considerable wealth to at least take care of your employees... those who actually work for your riches...
You have no idea how well her employees were or weren’t taken care of. It’s all hearsay and I’ve never heard the complaint that not being well paid was their issue anyway.
@@michaelmcdonald8452 : It is certainly not hearsay, that madame left her core production staff (those who do the actual work) without any information and then suddenly notified them of a 60% pay cut, while using non-Union workers to tape her recordings from her home. Had she been actually nice, she would have used her considerable wealth to continue to fully pay her staff and use them or a unionised crew at her home. She wouldn't even have noticed the dent in her income... ...but such is greed.
She nailed it...Enough is enough.....I think Ellen just wore out her own welcome....19 years of trying to just be and for everyone to like it? Man, tough gig.....imhl.
I agree 100%. no show can go forever and Ellen's show was really good for like 10 years but lately really started to fizzle out and Ellen (who used to be soo likeable!) became more and more like a robot.
I think she’s done a thing or two since Covid started, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen her on something. I remember seeing that great hair-do and thinking, man, that’s a great hair-do, Rosie!!
I always liked Rosie o'donnell. She is the type of person who doesn't put up with all the drama. She is one funny lady. I have seen her stand up comedy many times. The best i have ever seen.
I think Ellen got money fever. In the beginning her show was enjoyable to watch. She was funny. In the past 5 or so years, as her wealth started to accumulate, her funny stopped and her money began to take over. She got a little power hungry and it came back and bit her in the ass. Get rid of some of your money Ellen and try being a regular human again.
...technically agreed. I use my life experience in being socially responsible personally, for my own, and others consideration. I put society benefits ahead of my own (self). I feel Ellen, became too confident that she was "clever", "witty", and was well received by others, making her...cocky and manipulative (w/guests ), which reflected back to viewers who seem to pick up on her seemingly "false" empathy. For myself, i felt her show became "fake", like, who are these audience participants so easily manipulated to reduce their self worth to zero, for Ellen to cut them off, or humor them w/a disguised insult. NOT my kind of entertainment. Too bad because early on i enjoyed watching the "LUV" she put out...
Ellen catered to an audience of people who wanted feel-good, light and fairly low brow entertainment. Imagine fronting up to face the cameras for nineteen years and being expected to act goofy and pleasant despite being smart and very capable of striking a tough deal. People are naive to think that celebrities are actually like their public persona. Ellen met her contract and retained the persona adopted to attract a midday audience. We do not really know Ellen Degeneres off-set and need to stop expecting a celebrity to be like their stage persona.
@@chriscunningham8807 Ellen catered to individuals who had nothing else to do but watch TV in the afternoon, who she, and her "goofy/ridiculous" producers could snare/manipulate to watch. Ellen manipulated guests and staff on and of her show. THAT was the very obvious flaw, because, it was hypocritical of her "spread the love" campaign. I enjoyed her Christmas shows, but didnt enjoy her choice of guests, off center commentary, and crummy taste in mass entertainment. No, i did not watch her show through a entire program. My socially responsible intellect couldnt take it.
Ellen had the “devil in her eyes” on the game show when she pulled the lever and the contestants fell through a hole. Just watch the old re-runs, she looks evil then laughs, when people suffered. I think that overpowers the free cars and gift certificates she gave out on her 12 days of Christmas giveaways. Hi Rosie, happy Pride 🌈 🌴 and greetings from South Florida. 🌹
No, it's just because she is a woman in a power position. People like yourself always demonize a woman for qualities and behaviors easily accepted in a man. You really don't know Ellen. Super creepy of you to bring the devil into this, but that's exactly how people treated women in the 1600s. Branded witches in a heartbeat for pretty much anything. People like you love to plant nasty seeds. You should really stop that. Very toxic.
ridiculous. the fact that you have a bit of mischievous sense of humour and like to scare people makes you automatically a bad person? bullshit. I am not a big fan of Ellen's show in last years (I loved it at the beginning but now she's too fake for me and rarely very funny) but so many ppl are totally overreacting about her
Class and class you explain a situation whithout being negative. Show business has its cycles she is so right. 19 years is a long time to be exposed to the constant attention of the public. Nobody is perfect.
Johnny Carson was the best talk show host ever; he knew how to treat his guests at all times and never once faltered. I have watched every episode of his show.
He asked the best questions because he seemed really interested in his guests. His guests were in the spotlight, not he himself, unlike all the other late night hosts.
I think Ellen has done good things, but she is just not a good boss. I wonder if she was always like that or just got a big head as she got more successful? The wealthier and more famous people get, the more they seem to disconnect from the real world. Their world is everyone works for them, kisses their butt, as well as getting fan adulation. They probably just lose their humility after a while. I dont understand why she would want her employees and guests to feel uncomfortable though? How is that going to make your show better?
@@gerrydooley951 It wasn't about being a boss. She completely checked out from any of the daily operations of her business. She never bothered talking to staff or checking in on anyone. She barely knew anyone's names. She just wanted the money and the fame and didn't care about anyone but herself.
She just checked out and let the staff run things. She was saying for a few years she was tired of it, and it showed. I'm not defending her, but i do believe for the most part she didn't know most of what was going on. Her fault was for not caring to stay on top of it.
@@johniii8147 Exactly my point. She didn't care or stay on top of things. Ultimately, the show has her name on it and she is responsible for what happened, even if she's not the one who directly did that to the staff.
Usually, whenever someone says they're nice to everyone, be kind to others, I get along with everyone, that usually means they're the exact opposite of that. Which is why I never bought into Ellen's bullshit.
So utterly indicative of the times we live in: Be nice -- fawning, sympathetic, promoting cheerleaders for wealthy privileged people .. even war criminals; but, not so much for staff, for example, those not in your select, affluent little clique. Hopefully, we can all be spared the trite, cringey anecdotes about Ellen's empty-performative "philanthropy," and escape the usual tired comparisons to Mother Theresa, et al., and all the other smug deflections from the yapping lap-poodle brigade, If a regular American threw a nickel to a homeless person, and insisted on publicity and applause for that small act; they would be rightly characterized as a narcissist & a blowhard. Generosity is helping those who cannot advance your own status or position. Everything else is just PR.
Ellen literally bullied her entire staff. When she moved to doing the show at home she left her staff in the dark and refused to pay them, instead hiring an anti union company to do production. Just because you liked her on her show does not mean in ANY way that she's a good person
Ellen has given away millions and millions of dollars, done charity for as long as I can remember and was doing it before it became branding, but she’s just not “nice” enough for people who think they know from gossip and rumor. Ellen was never meant to be in charge of the entire, huge business and staff. People need to get a grip.
@@MM-nh8ez except for she was. That was literally her goal. She's been a boss of people for over twenty fucking years. She's not a child she's a full boss stop making excuses for a toxic work environment because she makes u laugh while you wash the dishes
@@ImK4Os I repeat, get a grip. You don’t know this person just because you heard some crap. There are a lot of motives in things becoming public. She signed the checks. She didn’t manage everything day-to-day. As the big boss, she HiRED people to do that part.
When I first start hearing about Ellen I knew something was wrong I just didn't know what it was but, I wish her well she's got plenty of money she's not hurting for nothing💲💲💲
Rosie‘s career ended years ago. She’s a train wreck. We used to watch her on VH1 when she was hysterical. Can’t stand her anymore. I do admire her though for offering her love needy children.
I agree. Ellen was often unkind. To guests, to staff. She seemed to enjoy it when someone was afraid or humiliated. Like making that male staff member wear short shorts - if the roles were reversed we wouldn't have stood for it. Or the female production member who she teased incessantly about embarrassing topics - there was no need. I stopped watching her show years before it ended. It's no fun to see people humiliated.
I want the staff that complained about Ellen to present baristas and waiters to testify on their behalf that they are lovely people that never have an unkind word.
If you don't want the "Be Nice" mantra to bite you in the ass, then maybe try actually being nice. Was it too much to ask someone who was raking in hundreds of millions of dollars due to the hard work of her staff to simply make an effort?
Rosie is the bomb she’s one of the most talented comedians to grace television-Never forget when she did a routine on television before she was famous about being at her sisters friends bridal shower and having to be excited as the host opens a gift and says paprika ooh Sage ooh-from that moment. I was hooked on her wry sensibility-her amazing observations and brilliant sense of humor-like Ellen she’s had to deal with the haters and bear that cross-silly me to ask why-when these powerful creative talents of women have given their lives to entertaining the world-and making it a better place a much better place why aren’t they just lauded- Love you Rosie and Ellen too💕tracy
Yes, of course. This issue is about successful women and how the world just can't wait to tear down the successful lives and careers of ALL successful women in our society. That is totally what happened here. We will simply choose to ignore that this woman was a hateful beast, brutal to both her guests and the hired staff she went to work with every day. Poor, little pitiful Ellen.. I know I'll be home playing the violin for the remainder of her non-existent career, that was rightfully taken from her by the same woke mob that she helped empower. This is the definition of irony and it hurts so good when a total 💩 human being lives long enough to see their demise-as a direct result of their monstrous behavior. Save your Wokestani words of wisdom for the imbeciles out here who shill for such causes. More and more people are waking up to the fact that wokeisms, worldwide, are simply the latest method in which the ultra rich, powerful and overtly Satanic can control the narrative.. Not anymore though. You will see for yourself these next few Novembers, BetaBritches. 💯🤏😉
Yeah she says it was a tough thing, for ellen to be in the spotlight for all those years. Oh it was? She could've quit anytime. Im guessing what was tougher was how crappy she made so many people feel when she mistreated them
Are you surprised? They’re both lesbians that had to deal with industry bs. That doesn’t justify Ellen’s behavior but i’m not surprised Rosie is on her side.
@@LegendaryManSlayer93 ....they said the same thing about Rosie too...that she was fake and not a nice person....then her adopted daughter outed her for saying cruel things about her co workers on the View and that bit her in the butt a bit...however Rosie was beyond caring and people were well aware that she could be tough.....of course she is not about to put Ellen down...they are both lesbians who have reached brilliant heights on TV...and she kept it real....but classy...the way she should keep it....
I liked Helen very much but as time went by you can see her changing, her ego took over. But we all have moments in our life’s when we loose sight of who we are and hopefully she will have time to think and make changes in her life.
Being held accountable for your bad behavior is what is needed. When you are a boss you need to understand you wouldn't have what you have without your employee's. If you step on them then it will come back at you. We live in a time where social media gives those who are mistreated a platform. That platform holds the abusers accountable. If your a shitty person it comes out. Being "nice" on camera has nothing to do with it. Treat others how you want to be treated. If you are called out on your behavior then sit back and reflect. If you change the world is forgiving. If you don't you get canceled. This isn't cancel culture here. It is accountablitiy cutlure. You as an idividual have no right to treat others as you please. Ellen - Its time to reflect and change. The world is forgiving if you change and do better moving forward. You have worked so hard doing many good things but your bad behavior has erased so muuch of that.
See, Ellen tried so hard to kiss celeb’s asses. And it shows. But don’t piss her off…Not sure why. Like the episode when Cher jokingly called her a “bitch!” during a game segment they played. She was bitter as hell after that. Only bc Ellen was trying to be funny and manipulate Chers words. And Cher was not there for it. “No, that’s not what I meant.. Bitch!” and everyone just laughed it off. But not Ellen. She looked at the camera, “…wow, ok, we’ll be right back-well, I will be. My guest, on MY SHOW, won’t be.” 😵🤣🤣 Meanwhile Rosie may have been pleasant or “the be kind lady” but she wasn’t KNOWN as that, in my mind…she REALLY related and talked to people. And Lord knows Rosie is outspoken enough as it is, even in the 90s; people knew “you don’t fuck with Rosie,” even way before “speaking her mind” on the View and stuff. Which btw, I read a comment that said “everything Rosie ever said on the View has aged like fine wine, meanwhile people like Ellen are being exposed left and right.” So true 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I’m noticing a sudden Rosie resurgence for 2023, and beyond. People are seemingly rewatching her show, commenting how her interviews are so real w everyone; it’s true, from kids to politicians and every person in between. Famous or not. Ellen’s funny and goofy, but her guest-host connection was never super “deep” - and that could be her friendly but aloof Aquarius nature (I am aqua as well though not like Ellen lol). Rosie is a 100% Leo lioness. All about that loyalty, realness and entertainment value, too!
I felt like Rosie was more real. I do enjoy some of ellen's funny moments on her show, but Rosie was the real deal lol. Even on the view! It was really good. I agree with Nik Nak.
I've always adored Rosie and I truly wish that she would return to doing a talk show if it's a late night or daytime even just for a couple of years cuz she's always so much fun she gave so much to charities she did so much for Broadway it would be wonderful
that was the line that made Trump a serious contender, lol. Really, it showed humor, insight, the fact he wasn't gonna lay down and take their insults, and so many people agreed, resonated with that spontaneity. Great moment.
Right? Lol. I guess because she's a lesbian and she's a lesbian, we get the "expert" opinion. Truth be told, I didn't know who she was until I read the description. She's out of the spotlight and maybe there's a reason for that....
I love rosie we all have good n bad days or what ever in all of us too bad they don't realize they finger pointed opened up has 3 pointing back. Ever notice a witch NEVER points because of they did the spell strikes back at them 3 times hence the 3 x 3.
