The most impressive thing about the voting gauntlet that year is that, from what I heard from L!Leif supporters, they never got the power boost, they beat Edelgard just in sheer numbers and perseverance (and probably strategy)
I remember the hero rises for legendary dimitri vs edelgard, were literal sleepless nights of planning, to get the best power boost over the B!Edel supporters. Was the funnest thing i've been apart of, excluding the toxic side of it all.
Being a European player, I just ended ended up having an alarm set for every hour of the second night until the round was over. Definitely one of the decisions of all time I make for a mobile game.
Oh gosh, I feel this comment. I remember picking Dimitri solely on principle (gotta support my boy, I will ALWAYS support my boy) and putting more effort than I've ever put into A Hero Rises battle. And thankfully I never saw any toxicity, but then again I'm kind of isolated from the fandom. How bad was it?

That particular AHR voting gauntlet is one of the the few times I actually grinded and spent my flags carefully just so Edelgard would lose the first round, I have nothing against this character, I just thought that having her win would’ve been a waste of a free unit slot.
The main reason there was pushback: she didn't fit into the gentleman's agreement of limited units only. As such, Summer Edelgard won't have the same resistance. Though the main pushes would be the rearmed heroes as there's no predictable rerun dates
@SleepyWolf Doesn't necessarily mean it's toxic if they decide to fight against her. At this point, Edelgard losing is a meme, the same way the Forging Bonds Revival with Mirabilis was a meme.

Dimitri lost last year and he was my boy, but I honestly don't care at the end of the day. It's just a mobile game. Feeling entitled to having your favorite character win is the exact same vitriolic mindset as the assholes that pop up during Choose Your Legends who start sending threats and insults to people for not voting for who they want. I'm sorry, but the way your comment is phrased just comes off as "This is toxic because my side didn't get what they want", please correct me if I'm wrong but someone choosing the character opposing her isn't automatically an attack against Edelgard.
I remember there was almost a similar situation back on the AHR banner with Hatari Azura, ninjorrin, Legendary Male Byleth and Thorr. Fallen Edelgard was the number 1 threat in arena because of not many options of keeping her in check and she almost got to the top 4 in the gauntlet itself. Luckily, the all green banner came to pass and it was crazy value.
I was happy F!Edelgard lost but upset it turned into an all-green banner. Made it easier to get a 5-star but literally impossible to pinpoint which 5-star I truly wanted unless I sparked.
Ironically S!Edelgard is honestly a good unit and might appear this year, which she's a boon to anyone that gets her. ...That said if she does I'll join the team to beat her again out of tradition.
but again she has a boring fodder, assault is only useful for her legendary alt. Even if this time is not that terrible for her winning, Im also joining the tradition of course
@@iwantmoney3598 Eh, Assault has its uses on surprise armors that you're not using as a Save. While those are rare these days, they're certainly not gone. And Ideal 4 is solid too for purely offensive units. Basically she's the best Edel we've had.
@@MysticEle while she is one of the best armors if not red units we’ve gotten in a while, I do see them having a lot of competition between all the duo swords, duo duma, and ascended mareeta. Especially duo duma, I can see the red pool being a big battle between these two.

Can you cover what was, in my opinion, the most intense Voting Gauntlet ever. Ninja Lyn Vs Seiros. That Hero Rises was intense. Lynja and Seiros both had huge supports from the jump, and they met in the finals match. For about half of the last day, it was Same edging towards Lynja. The last hour before it was over, Seiros got the Weaker point buff. I was a Lynja supporter and was intensely keeping tabs, so I thought for sure we lost, but sunk in the last of my flags anyways. Hour ticks over to reveal that Lynja was able to maintain her lead despite Seiros getting the Weaker buff and being toe-to-toe over the final day. I popped off so hard after being completely dejected. I have beaten every Abyssal and Mythic map with that free Lynja and 3 dancers, just as proof of how good she is, and as to celebrate her winning. I know that there might not be enough available info to cover this, but it’s a highlight memory of this game for me.
I was a Seiros supporter at the time, and by the gods, was I enraged when the final results came. I wanted that free 7th slot Mythic so badly. In hindsight, it was stupid, and I ended up getting a lot out of the 4 copies of Ninja Lyn I got from that banner.
I'd like to add the fact that Edelgard gets less multipliers in non important voting gauntlet events which inherently means that she is more popular than her adversaries, and thus her massive popularity backfires due to the lack of multipliers. Just an interesting piece of trivia
Just thinking about the f!edel hero rises gets my blood boiling, god the amount of malding I would've done if she even entered the top 4 would absolutely surpass the malding I did when seiros got cucked last min, I had zero need for that worthless thing, as a unit or fodder, the relief I felt when we the azure gang fought back that menace was immense 🙏
I remember that voting gauntlet mainly because I was a new player at the time and my first legendary hero I summoned was L!Leif. I didn’t know much of the meta nor of any widespread movement against Edelgard, just that Leif was my favorite character and I wanted him to win. I was happy to see that he made it past round one.
After the last summer voting gauntlet I saw a comment about how Dimitri's powerlevel increases tremendously whenever the two are on the same gauntlet. And if I remember correctly he never lost the VG whenever this happened, except for maybe the AHR one. And for my part I can confidently say, that those are the only gauntlets (except the AHR ones of course), that I actually take serious. Of course on Dimitri's team.
The first time they both were in a VG Dimitri lost to her. The reason why Edelgard keeps losing VG's is because she's too damn popular. Having the biggest army which probably has casual players that don't know how VG's work turn multipliers against her and she ends up losing
I remember people insisting that they needed to have Brave Edelgard win because "who knows when she'll show up again?". She was already later scheduled to show up on a Forging Bonds revival and showed up later again on a Hero Fest. Both banners had sparking. It was very satisfying to show them the door Round 1.

I love that she always losing any voting gauntlet on round 1 became a meme. Still, I think that Summer Harmonized Edelgard finally has a shot at winning a Hero Rises because she finally has a good alt not in the normal summoning pool. Then again, maybe we'll get even more broken heroes until then including rearmed heroes that are even more rare than seasonals.
At this point, Edelgard's A Hero Rises losing streak is a meme. I honestly wouldn't care whether she wins or loses if it wasn't for the fact that she's nearly useless as a fodder unit and people keep voting for her when she's already part of the general summoning pool. Though I'm 95% sure that her summer alt is gonna get voted in, which at least by this point there would be a reason for her to actually win. I'm still gonna vote against her though, gotta keep the meme going and if she loses again, I can make part 2 of my "A Hero Rises but it's a meme" video.
Edelgard is following lyns footsteps of being release every year (except for one but we got multiple lyn in a single year before that) this year who knows maybe another lyn alt shows up to piss players off for having too many lyn alts and thier fav. Units dont get an alt unless they win CYL
The only acceptable Edelgard placement I'll take will most likely be this year's summer Edelgard. I was an advocate for Brave Edelgard during her time for how good she was, and she's only gotten better thanks to her refine as opposed to many of the candidates on that vg. Fallen Edelgard hasn't aged well at all. The amount of counters that IS had to shove out the door just to stop her is still funny to me. On top of her being pretty worthless to all player types. Only the most braindead of casuals thought she'd be helpful when she falls very quickly in the modes people wanted to use her for (mainly Legendary/Mythic battles). Here, Summer Edelgard is actually pretty busted by comparison to the other 3. Legendary Edelgard on steroids would be a fitting addition to the top 4 banner but I'm curious what other characters will make it. I imagine it'd be something along the lines of Summer Edelgard, Summer Dimitri, Summer Thorr, and maybe Duo Chrom. Maybe some Rearmed characters like Robin or future ones can also get into the top 4. We'll have to wait and see. Either way, this will be the most interesting AHR just with how much powercreep nonsense we've gotten this year.
i def think this could be the year she gets farther. i don’t think anyone could deny that brave edelgard is a crazy strong unit, the problem with her winning is the fact that getting her in the first place isn’t that hard. she’s on a speakable banner, is rerun frequently, is in the normal summoning pool, can be summoned as your free CYL, and was released on the most popular banner of the year. If you wanted her you already had her easily, compare that to how much more difficult it is to get seasonals/mythics/legendarys. seeing how the new edelgard is a seasonal def raises her chances but it might be too late with how strong the meme is now lol
@@NightKnight13 For sure. For me I didn't care less about the availability of Brave Edelgard at the time. She outclassed the vast majority of the units at that time so that was enough for a vote. Considering the only real powerhouses in that top 4 were Dimitri and Lyn, while everything else in top 8 varied, Brave Edelgard was a no brainer to me. By comparison to this year's AHR where top 100 had amazing limited units that ran circles around Fallen Edelgard or offered more versatility and utility (cough Bride Catria cough).
Since you mentioned it in this video, would be fun to see coverage on some of the CYL upsets. Be it of old (I still don't know how Veronica got in), or newer ones like Tiki!
My only issue is I wouldn't really say Edelgard winning would have ruined the event since at the end of the day, we still were getting a free 5-star unit no matter who won, and I think very few players would say they would rather have no free unit at all over a free Edelgard. She did however present us easily the least desirable scenario. Sure, some people would be happy she won but her status as a regular pool unit over literally the rest of the limited units would have the opportunity cost nobody really wanted to pay. I'd say she almost missed us an opportunity rather than ruined the event.
I wouldn't say she would have ruined it though but this did set up the trend where everyone regardless of whether they don't like her or not will make sure she won't win a voting gauntlet
I'll be honest, the only two A Hero Rises events I remember were the first one with Legendary Ike, and the one where voters actually planned out their moves to get Altina to win over Winter Sothis. Frickin savage. But yeah, sorry Edelgard, you're never winning first round, let alone getting first place.

Ohhh, I remember this- I think was voting for Alfonse? Not because of gameplay or anything, but like, FEH main protag duo should be a thing that everyone should just have. How dare the cute OCs not be free.
Can we talk about how inconsistent the voting gauntlet system is? Like why add a boost system for losing party? It defeats the purpose of the system for things like AHR. If the character isn't popular, then it isn't. Sure IS can always use the data from the first round but to us players, it makes no sense.
The start of the tradition of crushing Edelgard in every gauntlet she appears. Don't forget to talk about Relay Defense, that gamemode that hasn't appeared since 2018.
I going to add extra content about "Edelgard always loses in VG" a little. While yes og Edelgard did put top 8 rise few eyebrows, She still only 8th, Meaning her chance of winning was petty low. But It when Braves and Fallen Edelgard's made top 8 in AHR 2021 and 2022 then that when FEH's playerbase started getting annoyed by Edelgard fans/supporters. Let start with Br. Ed (Because she older of two), While good units, if you don't care about armor units, you find her fodder meh.., or you just don't like her, you most likely got annoyed when you hear she made it in top 8(5th or 6th I think.... Don't remember nor care). At Fallen ed.... Same reasons like brave version with add reason that EVERYONE HATES FIGHTING HER! She was just pain to deal with in all pvp models you WILL get sick of seeing her over and over again. She petty much kill a lot enjoyments to a lot people's. However real annoyed about these Edelgard's units are.... Her fans/supporters. They never shut up about her, Don't think any other characters besides her, and some willing argue you nonstop just because... you just disagree with them. It was not fun couple of months.... After Fallen Edelgard made it AHR( she was 1st for while but lucky ninja corrin knock her down 2nd) FEH'S playerbase collective say F this, and decided every time that Edelgard's in a VG, We are going to kick her out at soon at possible! And even since then... Edelgard never got passed round 1.
While I suppose I can understand Edelgard having her fans, they are something special especially when it comes to feh. Base Edelgard was pretty good at the time, but had no place in the AHR top eight. Fast forward a year, those fans were making brave and legendary Edel fairly high. But come the voting gauntlet, they even botched themselves. Between the limited legendary and the free brave they most likely already chose, brave got in. While there is admittedly an odd satisfaction to take down Edelgard in voting gauntlets, when it came to ahr, her technical best chance was screwed over by her fans, and the most recent 2022 managed to be another main pool unit that, while good, had fallen off a bit by the time it came around and was going against rarer limited units.
As for me, I always side against her just cause I absolutely hate her, I didn’t know there was a tradition to it. This year Summer Edelgard is pretty strong, but honestly I don’t want her to win still, unless it ends up being an all red banner and there aren’t better options. Summer Edelgard is a unit I don’t want to use, but also is a unit that’s already been powercrept, maybe she’s the best offensive armor unit, but that’s an awkward niche. As a save unit, her prf isn’t the most defensive, she might kill on retaliation, but all she has is DR% which more and more units can ignore. But maybe I’m just biased.
There is also a community dedicated to try and make Edelgard win, they call themselves the Edelsisters. Though I prefer anyone beating Edelgard at this point. Not Team Edelgard.
I´d still prefer Edelgard over Altina because she is like, literally worthless no fodder, mediocre combat, even back then Even tho Beating Edelgard in a VG is somewhat a tradition and I hope for next hero rises with probably summer edelgard she loses again for the funny
