Today, we visit our friends down the road at Cane Creek Cycling Components and see how they test mountain bike products. It turns out they have an R&D lab filled with destruction robots of some sort.
I have no sponsorships or paid collaboration with Cane Creek, so this is strictly for fun. Thanks to the employees and engineers for taking some time out of their busy workday to show us some cool stuff!

As a Mechanical Engineering student this is incredibly interesting and fun to watch! Great video as always Seth. But, seing engineers use imperial units instead of SI units just... hurts.
@spoonlesscorey1628
@spoonlesscorey1628 Год назад
Its all too common. I’m an engineer in the aviation industry, and everything is in imperial. Our turbo-machinery guys even use Rankin in all their engine calcs. Its just something you’ll have to get used to. I personally just do all my work in SI and make the conversions when I write reports or make drawings.
@RockyPondProductions
@RockyPondProductions Год назад
@@spoonlesscorey1628 Making conversations all the time is a sure-fire way to introduce error into your analysis. It is best to work with the original units because that is the way things were designed. NASA lost a $100 million plus space craft due to similar reasons

Man, that was super interesting! As a 150 pound guy, I've blown through 2 forks. First one was a "Next" WalFart special, so no surprise there. The upper stanchions cracked and sent the wheel out front from, I guess, jumping too hard. Second one was a RockShox Judy fork. Somehow I managed to break the bridge connecting the 2 lower stanchions, so my wheel went all kinda of floppy. I'm currently rocking a Fox Float 32, but I'm kinda paranoid sometimes because I can feel a decent bit of flex sometimes. Been casually considering upgrading to a Stepcast 34.
