The Berm Peak Ranger Station is a vacation rental for mountain bikers, in Brevard, NC, USA. We bought this house back in the Fall of 2020, and by June 2021 it should be ready to rent! This is the biggest home improvement project we've undergone for sure, although it has been done mostly by contractors. It would be so sad but i have kind of a feeling that someone is going to wreck the place and vanish so Seth is going to have to clean it up. But let's hope that doesn't happen!

Yeah that's the risk with rentals. The wireless controllers might not be stolen the first week but I'd guess they won't survive the first year. Maybe I'm just pessimistic because of how it goes in France and Belgium

I'm really excited to see this completed. It's been on my radar that as we return to a more normal life I can start traveling out exploring different trails through the country. I may even be interesting in trying out this place and seeing the area. I would just be myself so I hope this comes up for rent on a single person communal style rent where people ether have the option to rent the whole house (if available) or being able to just rent a bed.

Looks great! I highly recommend a Chromecast if the TV doesn't have it built-in it, allows guests to stream their content from their own accounts and services, it has been a godsend in our Airbnb.

The nest thermostat has a base plate in the bottom of the box that the thermostat can mount on. You can cover those holes in the wall with that.

This is awesome I hope I can make it down there this summer sometime I have an operation decision to make whether I put it off for a year or do it now if I put it off this is definitely on this Summer's due list. PS you fellas will know what I mean, it really sucks when everything else works just fine but then you're plumbing goes bad and you might have to have a pieces took out.

Preach on USB micro-B being ready for the history books. I've stayed at some AirBnBs and the attention to detail on this build is very nice. Things like the charging station and bed shelfies are such huge quality of life features that just nobody thinks of when they're slapping together their rental property. Suggestion: you might want a large dedicated sticker wall for guests to sign/sticker/etc.

Tip for the Bed Shelfie. Get a bit of rubber or something and put it on the ends of the clamps so that people don't over tighten them and wreck the wood/paint on the bed frames.

Just a personal thing, even though I don’t live anywhere near, so more of an idea. Putting eyelets or karabiners up on the deck so someone could set a hammock up, would be a comfortable outdoor chill space and relatively cheap. Found a few hammocks on amazon for around £20

It's nice that you installed a charging station (just like in your workshop/garage at Berm Peak)! Although, how about a place for charging wireless droppers...and a place to charge bike computers....and a place to charge wireless mechs...boy, we have a lot of tech on our bikes that need to be charged!
