We just don't seem to create enough chances on goal with this system, the conversion rate of chances is still relatively good. The system works ok against teams that come out and play but against teams that are cautious the build-up is too slow, our fullbacks never put an early ball in even if they have the opportunity, they always check and pass it back inside. It is only really Saka taking on players that makes something happen, and his form has dipped the last few months, or Bellingham turning the ball over and quickly playing someone in to a goal chance, apart from that there's very little happening. I don't know if he will start with Trent but I do feel he can bring something different to the play, and he has a great shot from distance, which even if he doesn't score can make opportunities like rebounds or handball situations.
I 100% agree with this, it's the way to go. Maybe Palmer over Saka depending on fitness / performance. Everyone saying Trent OK against weaker teams but I disagree I think he'll excel when we play a strong team
Palmer over saka?? The lads had one good season with a lot of pens coming from a low block defensive side that wants set pieces. England dont play nowhere near the same theyre more pressing. Sakas been doing this for years not only for club but for country. He missed a pen last euros it happens big woop but hes lightyears ahead of palmer. Palmers been poor for england so far. Literally one decent moment was when he tried to assist kane agaisnt iceland.
People won't be brave enough to say this but the best thing for England would be to start Foden in the right wing positio so that Bellingham starts in Attacking midfield and Gordon on the left.All because width is much needed and the width would be much more useful on the left because you have a player in Trent who can ping those ball to Gordon
Foden never holds width he always drifts centrally, that's why taking a player like Grealish would have Neen useful as he can hold width without the need for an overlap.
Foden will forever come short and play central, that’s been drummed into him at city; he wouldn’t maintain his position if he was placed on the right wing.
I think your point is to drop Saka to have one natural winger instead of two wingers who like to drift inside all the time? Your point makes sense, but you’ve dropped the wrong player. Not only is Saka better for England than Foden, but he’s also far better at holding the width when necessary. Foden should be dropped, Palmer should be dropped. Bellingham in the 10. I’m worried about Trent CM against top teams, as he’s only shown that he can do it against some of the poorer teams in the world, but we have plenty of options there if he struggles anyway.
England should draw inspiration from Real Madrid 23/24 and before you call me crazy Trent should be playing in the quarter back position is very similar to how Toni Kroos played this season.Another thing they can learn is how Rodrigo a left winger playing on the right would drift to the left wing to create overloads while with England you have Foden a right winger playing on the left who can also drift to the right side to create overloads and hurt the opposition

I don't understand why people aren't picking Joe Gomez in the starting lineup. He's had a much better season than trippier or Guehi. He's played at the very highest level for Liverpool in huge matches to win the Premier League and the Champions League. He's bang in form. He has to be starting a left center back or left back.
@@brandonking2679 we don’t have k Phillips who sat in front of the defence and maguire also possibly Shaw . Rice mainoo Trent all venture forward which leaves us open . Shaw used to help very well because he has the quality to slot in as a 3 rd centre back . But tripper out of position who like marauding foward runs is a ticking bomb. To play higher up the pitch which the lineup suggest where is England counter press ?. It will be interesting to see what happens . But feel free to tell me I told so if I’m wrong lol
i agree. Saka broke through playing LB at Arsenal and has slotted in at WB for England before. Trent isn't a CM no matter how much his skillset suggests he should be. If the front three has two narrow AMs behind Kane, we have a lot of players who can find and exploit those pockets, especially with Trent/Saka/Shaw on the overlap. Back three of Stone, Walker and Guehi/Dunk (he's played a back 3 quite a bit) gives me more confidence than a back 4. The curveball I'd throw in is the possibility of Wharton next to Rice. Been watching him at Palace for the last 6 months and he would be perfect there. Does all the defensive work, moves things along and makes so many key passes. Completely outplayed Mainoo when we beat them 4-0. Completely outplayed everyone really. Just controls games. I think people assume he's a poor man's Rice, when in reality he's closer to Scholes. The reason Olise and Eze have been so effective the last few weeks is because they're getting the ball from him in dangerous spaces early. Do the same with Palmer, Bellingham, Saka, Foden, Eze, Gordon...
3-4-3 doesn't include a left/right midfielder, you have a right and left wing-back and a right and left winger, so Trent and Trippier wouldn't work in that system imho. Trent is a Beckham type player, but unfortunately having right and left midfielders in your attacking phase (like in an old school 4-4-2) is pretty outdated, so he should play on the right of a midfield three.
I wonder if the Brazil team which won the WC in 1970 spent a lot of time talking about tactics. They probably just went out and played their natural game. I think England are the most overhyped team in the world. Injuries to one or two key players can cause big problems and I'm not sure about the defence.
This England team will be humiliated in this Euro for many reasons. 1) Kane always out of form in national team 2) Saka match fitness is questioning. 3) Trent in CMD position is too risky as he is not good at defending. 4) No WC defender to play along with Stones ( Dunk, Gomez, Guehi lol) 5) And PickFord.
Kane is England's highest ever goalscorer and has scored more goals for England at major tournaments than any other player in history. Saka has been one of England's best players at both Euro 2021 and WC 2022, and is clearly one of England's fittest players. Pickford has been in the form of his life this season and is easily the best goalkeeper England has. Ramsdale is the only other option, and he hasn't been playing for Arsenal this season. Be critical of England, sure, but at least base it on facts.
England never had a strong identity in their style of play. Always moments after a longer dull period. They once again will get schooled by teams like Croatia.
