Hi Sascha, I think Vienna is generally cheaper than most of the tourist places in the US. For example, if you drive to Portland Maine for a visit, parking alone can cost you around $20 per hour and with $20-30, you only get a small lobster roll without starters or drinks or whatsoever. $17 in DC will give you a small sandwich with a glass of soda. I think the way you can manage your food in Vienna is either you pick the restaurant you like, and they are everywhere with all kinds of options; or you buy food from BIPA and carry it around. Note that the hams in BIPA can be sold in small portions, so you buy only the amount you need. Sascha, I strongly recommend you to do a full video about life like a pro in Vienna. It’s such a lovely city with all kinds of varieties, and so much in rich history. I even recommend you to do a video of “ eating like Mozart”, as those great music is written under him eating sauerkraut and knodel 😂
Love your videos very basic and informative .We are in Vienna for only a short period of time and your videos are fantastic thank you Tony from Australia
Unfortunately prices have apparently doubled since this video was done. I've just come back from Vienna having spent a week there and food and drinks were ludicrously expensive. A cappucino costs between 5,30€ and 5,70€ and lunch (without starters or dessert obviously) cost 50€ for two of us.
Where did you go? I ordered soup, a main course and a desert and it cost normally for 50-70 euros for one. But that also includes beverages and tips. But I can’t always eat that much alone so simple meal with water/soft drink plus salad with meat and desert plus some small tips is around 20 euro.
Heya! Thank you for this video, great useful information there! I thought of a suggestion of a topic that can be very useful and important for many and something no one seems to talk about much, which is regarding concession tickets for attractions. Sometimes military personnel, people with disabilities, university staff, etc have discounts for museums, exhibitions, and so on. Is it the case there? Many thanks!
Students, retirees and people with disabilities generally get discounts. But you'll have to check separately on the website of each museum, exhibition, event etc since it can differ!
Definitely without car! Walking and public transport is way better. If you park your car outside and take the public transport, you can Safe tons of money 😊
Hello, thank you very much for all the information in your videos. I am an Erasmus student and I will be coming to Vienna during the winter. I am trying to find some cheap places to buy duvets, comforters and things like that 😅. Have you any idea where I could buy them?
There is an IKEA at Westbahnhof right in the city, no car required. If you dislike IKEA and prefer to support a local business, REITER is an old and well-known linen shop with a few stores in Vienna that you can easily access by public transport as well.
I would recommend you to use booking.com - they mostly have great deals 😁 we are natives in Vienna, so unfortunately we didn't stay in a lot of hotels here 👍😊
