I'm very impressed with how he cares about the cook's feelings, only pointing out the generic issues. No one likes to be humiliated on TV. It takes courage to present your food to millions, and Fieri evidently realizes that. He's the polar opposite of Gordon Ramsey. That said, I know a chef who actually knows Ramsey, and claims that his over the top delivery is pretty much an act. He called him "completely different" in real life.
It's kind of funny but I think that may actually be true. I used to actually not like Ramsey at all as in I thought he was just a dick 100% of the time. Then I saw this one clip of him describing a pie a blind contestant of his made him, he went into such detail to reassure her because she thought she messed it up and he was gonna be upset. I also saw something he did on shark fin soup and it was almost like he was a different person than what I was used to seeing from him, I didn't really know what to think, but it was definitely interesting to see a different side to him.
@@sajohnson09 You'll find that many television personalities are completely different in real life. Often times its just an act, like all reality TV shows.
@@sajohnson09 In Kitchen Nightmares, I can't honest recall him yelling at anyone who didn't totally deserve it. In fact, if I were him I would have just walked out and never come back. But a course if he did that he wouldn't have a show...
Ramsey has actually said why he is a dick to the competitors. He feels that what he asks then to do should be basics if they want to win the competition. You can see it in how he treats the kids. He knows they might not know everything at that point.
I work at a Ramsay restaurant, and have only met him twice, but when he's come round he's been super friendly and nice to everyone. I think when he was working in the actual kitchens 15-20 years ago, the shouting and stress would've been real because he was literally performing at world level at a 3* restaurant every night, but that's just part of the job and how the industry was back then. Nowadays, he's a whole brand and has dozens of restaurants and tv shows, so he has people to get angry and yell for him, so i think he's chilled out in his later years, hahah
It's always the most obvious thing in the world when Guy isn't impressed with a dish: *Bite* "....hm. You got the soft tortilla... crunchy on the outside... the bite of the onions... the savoriness of the cheese... that sweet, tangy hit of the pork... with the acidity of the lime coming through...Nice job, brotha." *Fist bump*
I've watched a lot of Gordon Ramsay through the years, it's hard to recall his reaction when he didn't like the food. He's too subtle when it comes criticisms.
I have been on a Guy Fieri binge lately and honestly he seems like the most down to earth, wholesome guy you could meet. That could fool you into thinking he is not actually a wealth of knowledge and veteran of the restaurant industry.
If he says he wants more or rolls his eyes heavenward, you know he loves it. If he doesn't like something, there's just naming ingredients & "good job" at the end.
I always thought if he wasn't too impresses he would say things like, "not too salty, not too sweet, not too spicy, not too much of this spice or that spice". He wasn't complimenting the dish just staying neutral on television.
But he's not honest. He doesn't say he doesn't like it. If he was honest he would. He is getting paid to sale a restaurant. Then people will drive far distances to try the restaurant and be really disappointed. Not only that he opened his own restaurant where I love and the food is awful and way over priced.
My favorite was when he was at a hot dog place and the chef put like half a bottle of yellow mustard on his dog. Guy looked at him like he was the biggest idiot on the planet 🤣
I watched an episode of DDD the other day and Guy said something like, "This place has been open for __ years and you've never changed the menu, and the locals don't want you to." That was the first time I really felt like he was struggling to compliment the dish
Ha. Andrew Zimmern is worse. He's too accommodating to the people he meets/ changing the way he talks according to the cook. It's cringe-worthy sometimes. But gotta love Bizarre Foods! Despite his condescension and unawareness to it.
In one of the early DDD episodes he was given a peanut butter burger and you could easily tell how hesitant he was about eating it, and he definitely didn't like it either.
I watched the turtle soup episode a few weeks ago and immediately could tell that he didn’t like it 😂😂 He was already apprehensive about eating it in the first place and then his reaction when he tastes it 🥴
What's to like, he is obviously not being honest when he reviews a restaurant. He never says anything bad about a place, it's dishonest and disingenuous if you ask me.
@@garys1266 His job isnt to trash a place. DDD is to show restaurants that are locally popular for the tv audience to see how good their food is and in turn will drive more business to that place.
I've eaten at many of these places he's been. The food is usually trash or mediocre at best. I sometimes feel as though he's being paid to go help promote these places
Well, keep in mind that the dish you're getting is different than what he's getting. Somebody is making it just for him when it's on the show and not rushing to get it out to a bunch of people. I've noticed that in some cases what he gets looks much better than the food they show going onto the tables for the rest of the diners.
What an awesome guy that everyone likes. And he ain’t a push over either I’m sure we seen the video of him whooping that guys ass. Took him right to flavor town
Watch the one where he visits Taco Party in Grand Junction, Colorado. It's the most unflattering episode I've seen of this show. He obviously didn't like that place at all.
If he likes the place he calls it a funky joint. If he doesn’t like the place he calls it a funky joint. And if he is somewhere in the middle then he calls it a funky joint.
I love when he says tone deaf borderline racist things without meaning jt lol Like they’ll be a Mexican chef and he’ll say things about mariachi and speedy Gonzales lol like brooo wtf Or this one Muslim couple he asked them if tbere grateful to be in America despite being here for decades and never asking anyone else that question Just super cringe but u can tell he’s not doing it intentionally he’s just guy fieri
Whether he has 3 million or 300 million that doesn’t mean he has any class or a sense of aesthetic. After all, he is famous for doing reviews of greasy diners and dives and even says it in the title of his show. A lot of people dislike him in Sonoma county but he aggressively attached himself to specific geographic zones to try to get good publicity. during natural disasters in Northern California he set up a barbecue to feed firefighters and other volunteers, that was fine but the problem is he went to a lot of expense and effort to make sure that he got lots of publicity out of it. It was sickening to see him kissing up to the news crews so he could publicize it on private businesses by handing out may be a few thousand dollars worth of barbecue, big deal he probably wrote it off as a business promotion expense. The guy is all about the money is not so soulful as people would think, and don’t be fooled by his “soul patch“ that he wears under his lower lip, trying to look like a hipster. Take away the haircut the goofy clothes the surfer biker whatever he has luck you just have a regular cook that’s all, I’d hire him as a line cook at a busy restaurant but certainly not as the head chef.
There was a review for Guy's American Kitchen in NYC that was known for one of the most savage restaurant eviscerations ever written. It's worth looking up.
He believes in charging more for less. It's the name game. Anyone remember when he was a contestant on the food channel? Guy who???? No name except for his local restaurant which was ok
Look they wanna bash guy. He's the best personal and just give you and your rest restaurant. He there to make money. He knows what he talking about. Watch his shows. You should feel special he comes to your place. You fail it's your fault not his.
He's my Brother from another. I too hate, hate, hate EGGS!!!!. And love it when he eats around them. And I always feel that people who insist he eat the little you know what. Are RUDE,RUDE,RUDE
There’s something really disgusting about is diners the show and I never hear it mentioned in the media. If you count he chews things once or twice and then swallows them down his throat. It’s really disgusting to see someone walk down to sandwich without chewing it and off. And the combination of stuff he eats during the course of one diner visit makes me very afraid of ever seeing what his bowel movements are like
With Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives I'm pretty sure Guy scopes out the place 1st, orders everything on the menu & if he likes the food, he would then goes in & do a shoot there No way in hell, he's going in blind 🙄 🤦♂
He is being paid to sale a restaurant. You can say you dont care for a dish and still be polite. Instead people will drive long distances to try a restaurant he recommended and then be highly disappointed. Also im not sure if I trust himnfor 2 reasons 1. He opend his own restaurant near me. Everyone yiu talk to say the food isnt very good & way over priced. 2. Guy IS NOT a chef. He is a nice guy but untrustworthy
When Guy is allowed to "create" something in someone else's kitchen he always makes some over the top "salute to gluttony" that will never be able to be sold profitably on the diner's menu. Just a waste of food for a photo op...
