Here we have a true end game boss. Fast, aggressive, and able to dominate with a wide variety of blocks, attacks, and combos; all while being able to change its moves mid battle to keep its prey off balance and ensure a decisive end. Truly a masterwork of primal brutality and power every hunter should fear. There's also whatever the dragon is doing.
I thought velkhana was the lance monster with its stabby tail Glavenus is greatsword Acidic glavenus is longsword Valstrax is gunlance (blastdash kinda) Hmm i guess malzeno captures the shield attack aspect, but isn’t that more of an sns thing to attack with shield?
Lance really is perfect for this, isn't it... I got it down second try with SnS. Went from screaming "wtf let me breathe!" to "oh there's the pattern" pretty quick. Well designed fight. Most badass visuals in the series.
I really like how Malzeno is designed as a fight. the mechanics and attacks are nicely telegraphed and easier to remember. surprised to see guard 5 on there since shield charge has built in guard 2.
It may have been tough to come off the visuals of World/Iceborne, but Rise/Sunbreak was still an extremely fun game. Can’t wait to see what Capcom has in store (probably next year?)!
Fair enough, that can go both ways though as it depends what games you played first imo. I started on the older games so prefer the older artstyle as apposed to the hyper realistic ones. I also struggled a lot to get used to the new artstyle in mhw as it looks to realistic and I personally play video games like monster hunter to feel like I'm in a different world ya know. I find Rathalos particularly jarring to look at in mhw compared to older games hus colours just don't look vibrant enough and his black spot on his nose draws too much attention as it looks "shiny". Still absolutely love mhw its just an opinion on the artstyle and something that affected my total play time as a result. I have put about 500 hrs into world (lost about 200hrs due to corruption so about 700) over 5 years vs just over 1000 hrs in 2 years on mhrise.
And ye following the pattern they have used for most of the series we should probably get a reveal or teaser around September this year and then next year sometime get generation 6 released which will be main team and essentially "world 2" if that was your first game
Like most Mh speedrunners they probably have done this fight more than 100 times to perfect the fight and get the shortest time. They also mod their equipment in so they don’t have to deal with doing 1000+ qurio rolls to get a singular god teir roll on all 5 armor pieces.
I've triple carted to this monster 4 times with IG. Put on the Lance and I didn't cart once. Doing a 4U playthrough where I use Lance only and craft all of them
It's as if Vicery knows what the monster is going to do before the monster even decides, frame perfect... Those retreat evades into air jump, wow. Meanwhile, with a full block build, I can't kill it somewhat reliably. And definitely not solo. Also, thanks for teaching me the dash-triple hit spam with your previous video, it's awesome against downed monsters! My three-hits damage is less than a single hit of yours, but eh!
I didn't know you could fight it on Citadel after the urgent quest. I literally couldn't find the quest, but I found the one for Forlorn Arena so i've been learning and farming on that one.
really loved the fact that p zeno is so suitable for lance, i cleared him 1st try with lance too. imo lacnce is one of the best weapon to fight it with
Someone told me to get better at lance (or any weapon) go look at speed runners to get a feel for the best way to use the weapon. I didnt know all the options coming out of the adept guard.... that really opens things up
Yea thats exactly what it looks like when I play lance too. No hit while being hyper aggressive on a end game boss. That looked like magic. I even slowed the video down to see if I could keep up with the slight of hand.
Can someone tell me what Song was used for this, great choice for a climatic dismantling of a legendary dragon. Using its own techniques against it even.
TDS reminds me of old manly man memes... Beast mode? You mean awake. I sleep with a pillow under my weapon There is no such thing as strong monsters... Just weak hunters.
While holding block, press walk in any direction and press the button for forward (mid) thrust to hop. While in the motion of the hop press the upward (high) thrust button to attack. The window for the attack is very generous as you can press the upward thrust button any time from immediately into the hop up until the hunter recenters the lance on their grip. In the training area you know you succeeded when the prompt says guard → guard dash → leaping thrust. I'm on Switch but assume it works the same on other platforms.
