Here in New Zealand, in a rural area I am getting 270 down, 17 up 35ms latency. It is a game changer for rural kiwis.

Mr. Wranglerstar, we received this same Gen2 a few months ago. I did the same thing as you, touching the router to turn it on! We haven’t had any problems so far. It is portable, I received an email from StarLink that said for an additional $25 per month we could use it anywhere the satellites are available. I do believe it has an internal heating element on the dish. I made a video when I installed mine (a snow storm the next day) and you can see the ice hanging off the bottom of it!!!!

Could be worse. I lived a good chunk of my life in area where we couldn't even get Hughes net, and even the DSL and dial up internet services wouldn't cover our entire town. Starlink was the first to offer coverage at all to a good chunk of the county.

I only live 30min from downtown Houston, 4th largest city in America. Out on some land and out of city limits but surprisingly enough only had satellite as an option. I’ve been using starlink for about 8 months now and it’s life changing when you have no other options. Potential to be world changing.

I’m glad you’re able to get some decent internet, it makes a world of difference and most people won’t appreciate how frustrating slow / unreliable internet can be. I went from 6 mbps DSL to gigabit fiber and am continually blown away with the speed.

Ordered an RV and Home edition as I wasn’t sure if the home edition would come in since my preorder was canceled a while back. They both are the same for the dish and router only difference is that the RV one finds gps location before it will connect in the app. Seem to get identical speeds the RV one does have a warning that it could be deprioritized service.

I'm so so grateful our power company took the leap and did a huge upgrade with fiber optic. I live in a very remote area and barely had cell coverage which now I can use wifi calling. I was on a waiting list for 2 yrs and finally have 100mb down and 100 up. We didn't have many options dsl or over priced sat. Starlink was going to be my next option but we pay 65.00 a month and I'd gladly pay double but don't tell them that. I am glad to see there are options out there for rural folks as it makes life more difficult in this day and age.

Agree HUGHES blows chunks. Tried them 2002-2006 and it was one of the worst experiences ever. As a mountain homesteader, I've been on Viasat for many years and had no real complaints (except speed). Now I am very interested in this new Starlink system and I appreciate you sharing this video with us.

You will find a indicator light on the bottom to show when powered. The picture on the front is supposed to be the orbit of the moon and Mars. Yes there is a auto heating function for snow (controlled through app). If speed drops or you start getting drop outs they suggest doing a hard factory reboot every few mths to download latest firmware. You do this by turning power on and off three times in rapid succession ( advice place dish in stow mode first.) So far love mine here in Australia

Just so you know, your internet doesnt really affect the frame rate of a game that youre playing. What you are talking about is your ping level or the lag that you are getting that will make it seem like your fps is low but your computer is doing the work for the frames on its own regardless of the internet lag

Love my Skylink!! Fast!!! We waited several months but was new to our area near Phoenix. My son games and does not interfere with other users. We will see how it withstands 120* weather. God bless

I keep watching more and more of your videos as we prepare to move from UT to NC (in the country) and have gotten a lot of ideas. This may be the nest so far. Thanks and prayers.

I was on the waiting list in rural MO for 2 years. Never received an update, email or anything regarding when service would be available other than "soon". The day never came and as far as I know it's still not available here despite Starlink accepting deposits for my area. I ended up get T-Mobile 5g home internet and for what it's worth it works very well but it is of course limited to LOS of a tower.
