As a Muslim Arab woman, what brother Hijab said at the end is very important. A lot of us were force-fed feminism and other liberal Western values. So now, some of us, when we hear Allah's laws, we get a bad feeling in our hearts. The hearts got sick, brother Hijab. We need to heal. I do not need to fit the Western narrative. If these Westerners want to perceive me as oppressed and in need of their saving (the god complex of the (non-Muslim) Westerner back at it again), fine let them live in their illusion. I am unbothered. It is time we heal from the colonial damage and learn to be ourselves unapologetically. Embrace Islam, submit to Allah swt and have sincere intentions. You do not need to be recognized or approved by the (non-Muslim) White person. That person does not need to give you a green light. You are putting that power in the hands of the (non-Muslim, or let me say this time, Kafir) White person. You are the problem. Destroy the slave mentality. You belong to a nation of two billion people, multiracial, multicultural, extremely rich history and glorious civilization. Therefore, wake up and start healing.

MH gives a lesson 101 in not shying away from giving the most controversial Quranic verses to a hostile public for the benefit of giving dawah! Non-apologetic and I like it. We should take notes!

Men who are abusive and take advantage of the rights Allah has giving them. Men who are abusive, mentally, spiritually, financially, sexually, emotionally and physically. This causes a lot of harm to the children and mother. These are topics that are very important. If a woman is not being taken care of, how can she raise the children? Very important! I am not a feminist Alhamdulillah, I am a Muslim. Islam is perfect. Giving dawah to the non-muslims not by straight up mentioning that it's gonna be a lecture on how Islam is the Truth but instead bait them by talking about a world-wide ideology (in this case feminism) and pointing out the negatives and what it is lacking and showing how Islam offers the more appropriate solutions. The moment you become a mother...you understand how empty you were before..the moment you become a mother, you just understand that being a mother is your main role in this life...and it dosn't deprive you from working or taking care of yourself, it makes you stronger and gives you thousends of reasons to fight harder than before...motherhood...such a blessing!

Advice to all people: Follow things that you know it very well. Make sure you know its origin and what it leads to.

My neighbor got married very young. Had three children, and once they grew up, she went back to work and school, and now she's completing her Ph.D. at 42. She has a career, will get her Ph.D. next year, and already have 3 kids. Women don't have to choose between education/career and family. It's just that they have to do family/kids first and at a young age because of biological facts.

One thing which you've probably heard before so just by way of continuous improvement and constructive critique - sometimes the approach can be a bit too direct for some who may not be at the level of emaan and knowledge where they can digest the information in the way you say it. Gentleness in delivery can help significantly, although I appreciate when people are infected with insidious liberalist propaganda which manifest in shouting across the room, it can raise the temperature - the key is cooling down and fighting fire with water, as it were.

Subhanallah Islam is the truth our Creator is all wise he knows what is good and what is bad for his creation. Those that reject divine advice are suffering and will contact to suffer. Feminism can't be about women doing the same thing as men. I think it is more about equal rights, opportunities and respect. What he is speaking about are feministic movements and their prominent protagonists. But he mentioned some important points. The general perception of women who don't work but are doing a lot for their families did become worse.

All he said is true and I fell victim to their modern ideology. Physically, and Emotionally Abusive One Sided relationship, where the woman is entitled to hitting me, and disrespecting by either by direct or indirect insulting. We had a son, I left at his age of 1, still see him and live nearby, I am his friend and father. She now has another baby and the father has left due to her abuse, her mother supported her for the abusive action, claiming the guy deserved it. It's Alarming. The Failure to recognize the future of these children. Whats sad is I have seen 1 modern woman who values herself and career first, before her family. And Yet has the audacity to walk in to a relationship, completely blindside 2 men, give us the impression she will be a good partner, then flip scripts on us. Allah SWT is the only pardoner AL Afu for my faults, I know See I am accountable more than anyone for my choices, I've accepted Islam, because I know understand all the pain and trauma that happened was because the modern world is lawless, will hurt you,lie to you, and abuse you, for her benefit because it has no morals, no values, and does not fear Allah. In sha Allah I will meet the one for me, and Alhumdillah I've spoken with a few Muslim women wallahi the best encounters and respect and dignity. This man has a very simplistic, almost adolescent view of what feminism is, and his lecture is full of generalisations. During the second wave of feminism, women across the world had limited socio-political, legal, economic and educational rights. They were relegated mainly to the domestic sphere, expected to limit themselves to parenthood (while men could explore avenues of employment)and still had a parent-guardian relationship with their husbands, rather than being an equal partner in marriage. This is the historical context that De Beauvoir, Friedan and Greer were writing in. This man portrays them as “stupid” or hypocrites. In fact, they were critiquing the social structures that they were born into / participated in during that period. Also, women have internalised thousands of years of sexism, which is important in understanding why they participate in sexism. It doesn’t mean their “statements are false or lies” as he states. Secondly, he claims that Feminism has harmed women and made women’s lives harder. To see the benefits of feminist thought, one only has to look at the status of women in many Middle Eastern societies. Countries which have the worst record of women’s rights, such as Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Afghanistan are also countries where feminist ideas of women’s agency, employment rights and independence have not taken root. Ask any woman if she’d rather be a woman in the West, or in another part of the world, and you’ll have your answer about how beneficial feminism has been. Thirdly, this speaker asserts that feminism is destroying women’s wellbeing. If women are feeling burnt out, it isn’t because they have equal employment rights and economic independence. It is that traditionalist gender roles (especially like this man spews) still put the onus of parenthood, child rearing and domestic duties on women. So, most women are working outside the home, and have the extra burden of cooking/cleaning and child-rearing. The solution to this isn’t to eradicate feminism, it is to encourage men to do their share of household tasks. Also, there is the truth of worker’s exploitation and harassment/ sexism that women face in the workplace that also creates a burden. The issue is to find sustainable solutions to these issues, not to lock women up at home. This man’s ignorance is astounding, particularly when he makes generalisations about women’s desire to work based on a survey of women from a magazine. I am a woman in Academia. I love to work, and have zero desire to spend the rest of my life as a housewife. I like to produce and create work and contribute to academic studies. Why should I be discouraged from pursuing my dreams, just because some women decide not to work? And this is the essential aspect of feminism today: that it provides an alternative lifestyle to women. We don’t have to be stay-at-home mums, we can be individuals with dreams and goals. And this , I believe, is the underlying issue with men like Hijab. They do not perceive women as their equals. They see biological differences, and desire to limit women and their lives because of these differences. They can not understand that women are human beings, exactly the same as themselves, but rather, that we are a degree underneath them, almost like children , and therefore, must be controlled. (According to the Quranic verse he quotes). This leads to my last point, and that is that he essentially dug his own grave by quoting the Quran, which was written according to Saudi’s Arabian society in the 6th century, and can not be applied to 21st century Belgium. Men are not a degree above women, nor do women have to be obedient to their husbands in today’s society. Both husbands and wives have duties to each other, and men like Hijab can’t justify their desire to control and degrade women through 1400 year old scripture. It’s a shame that this man ( who states that if “ he wasn’t Muslim, he’d want an independent, strong wife!” , which reveals his use of religion to oppress women) was even given a platform, without somebody logical to refute his claims.
