After almost six years of a strict vegan diet, not eating vegan junk food, daily fruit smoothies with massive spirulina, etc., I found myself in a deep dark depression with suicidal thoughts and one attempt.I quit vegan diet and slowly improved.However it wasn't until I started eating a carnivore diet that my depression completely disappeared.

Did you get enough fat in your diet? Did you eat enough nuts, especially walnuts? Flaxseed or cold pressed flaxseed oil and olive oil? Coconut oil? Dark cocoa or chocolate? Enough colourful fruit, not smoothies and juices because they can cause glucose spikes. I'm seriously curious, most people swear by going fully plant based. I'm more flexible and i believe food is to enjoy it when I eat and how I feel after. I feel more energy and happy when I'm plant based. When I feel like having eggs and butter in winter (might be because not enough fresh fruit and vegetables and no sun out of the season) then I have eggs and I feel satisfied and well. when I feel like lots of cheese and I eat cheese then I crave more and feel unwell, headaches, brain fog, runny nose - so i know I crave cheese beacuse condensed kazeine is addictive, its.like a crack. It's not what my body needs. I suspect that being STRICT about any diet can affect us mentally in a long term. For me mostly plant based is what makes me feel great. It's hard at family gatherings and social occasions, so this is the only drawback. Could this, feeling excluded as a vegan, have contributed to your feeling down? Low fat diets can affect the brain on a long term. We need good fat, notmeat.we tje brain? Also chamges on git nacteri

I can say same. Totally did the carnivore but now, well. Truthfully I have IBS and my digestive flora was weakened and I began to realize that you can fk up your system eating just one food and if there's an apocalypse and you can't get meat it's not a good time for constipation and diarrhea. It's better to add some other proteins and fats in there folks.

What is surprising is that people will mistrust an idea that has zero cost and can be done by anyone yet will blindly trust a solution that requires them to buy something! Snake oil has never been free so if something free makes you feel better, it is unlikely to be snake oil!! It’s simple enough to see if reducing carbs lowers glucose. For mental health, if cutting carbs makes you feel in any way better, then surely it’s a ‘no brainer’ (pardon the pun). Why wouldn’t you lower the carbs even further? Perhaps you’ll feel better still!

The other day I watched an episode of Four Corners called 'The Kids Who Can't Go to School' which is about the huge problem of school refusal. I had similar problems with my two boys about twenty years ago. All through the program I was thinking that we wouldn't have these problems if people knew how bad the food most of us eat really is. I had a hard time trying to work out what foods were affecting my boys and wish this information was available then.

100 years ago sugar which was expensive and in short supply was deregulated in America, the price fell through the floor as the market was flooded with sugar, no coincidence that our health and well being has been in decline since. Cheap sugar was manna from heaven for the food industry. As Dr. Ede stated our health started to become worse over the last 100 years, the correlation is the deregulation of sugar. Things always happen for a reason. Keep up the good work.

Humans have been eating sugar for hundreds of years, albeit not in the quantity of today.I beleive that its the seed oils that are fueling this rapid decline in human health.Most people cook in them as well as restaurants and seed oils are in the vast majority of highly processed food.Seed oils inhibits the bodies ability to digest sugar so along with the excess sugar and seed oils we have an explosion of diabetes world wide from children to adults.

53:48 ive drank coffee practically every day of my life since I was about 8 years old, I drink more coffee than water now and don't suffer from any problems of dehydration. I am also somewhat usual in that caffeine has a paradoxical effect on me and it used to make me tired, now it does basically nothing since I drink it so much. Coffee is good for you, the shit we put in coffee (including table sugar) is not. I use Honey in place of sugar now, unbelievably massive difference, I stopped getting head aches. Id argue that home made coffee can be a nutritional supplement depending on the quality of what you get. Its good for most people that don't have problems with caffeine, even helps prevent some gut and colon cancers. Ive also tested this by removing it from my diet for months several times before, it made no positive impact on my health or mood. Only switching out the sugar to honey did

The reason the medical community is fixated on cholesterol is because the test for it is a cheap and easy. Serum insulin tests are expensive and relatively complex. If, 70 years ago, the case was opposite, we may have have had a huge tool to reduce CVD, with no need for statins, The inflammation caused by sustained high serum insulin levels in the spikes is likely a significant cause of heart issues.

I cured many things on keto but after a deviation into low carb and coming back to keto, my energy level was bad and i felt off. Fasting for 24hrs and my ketones would only be .7. I started taking acetyl l carnitine and my energy levels are great all day now. My 24hr fast has ketones at 3.0 . My morning ketones used to be 0.3, now they are 1.7. Carnitine is the amino acid responsible for taking fat from your blood and putting it into mitochondria. It is a great supplement if you burn fat for fuel

I got one of my three write ups at my Behavioral Therapy job by trying to suggest that diet plays an important role in mental health and behavior. Its technically not part of my role to give medical advice, but its a no brainer and we're all forced into "just following orders" and allowing harm to come to others at our jobs. I got auto immune disease about 15 years ago. When it first happened, I was puking every single day for 2 years, and I was nauseous every single day for another 4 after that, then I still getting nauseous every other day at least once a week for another 3 years and im just now getting to the point where I feel semi-normal. I could ONLY eat eggs for the first 6 years, anything else I would puke up. Including juice, spinach, strawberries, any kind of whole and natural food. Only eggs, and cheese. There was a few specific brands of corn chips I would get to put the cheese on. Then the spices like turmeric and cyanne pepper. Doing things like eating eggs, not eating processed food, replacing table sugar in coffee with honey, eating medicinal mushooms (psychedelic and Red Reishi) were all things I think saved my life. EDIT: Shes more extreme on this stuff than I am though. You can have sugar, you can have alcohol, you can have carbs, you just don't want to be doing it every week. If you are really sick like I was, then you do want to cut all that stuff out entirely until you recover completely.

Hello, it may take some time for the body to regulate blood glucose levels, It could take years, it depends a lot on each person's body, But stay strong, and look for lots of information about fat to help lower blood sugar. Below are some interesting ideas Thank you for the great work, keep going Sharing my opinion after 2 years on the Carnivora and ketogenic diet (2 years between dietary transition (removing complex carbohydrates (Natural) as I removed the industrialized ones on the first day of the dietary change) 1. Changing foods requires time for the body to begin adapting to new food consumption in this case (Protein and Fat) the body requires time to change its source of burning energy, When we are eating carbohydrates our body is always in total despair. This can happen on a carnivorous or ketogenic diet, but in an intelligent way. 2. Every Body has a health problem to correct (No one is the same when it comes to health problems, even if they have the same disease) 3. Losing fat or gaining muscle can be an easier task for some people, this is due to their body, which may have a problem in a certain organ. (Which was not diagnosed by laboratory tests) due to several factors 4. The beginning of the diet is very delicate, as we want to heal quickly, at least overnight, (We can start the improvement process when we change our diet on the first day, but we will not be cured overnight. It is not possible to cure years of a wrong diet in just a few days or even months or years, it depends on one body to another) Total transition I believe in around 5 years, For those who are only on the carnival diet along with the ketogenic diet, interspersing the two in the same period 5. Observing your evolution is very important, be it in the physical or mental aspect (Mental Energy, Relaxation in your daily activities, patience, emotional control, concentration, among others. Your physical energy, Desire to do some exercises, among others) even if it is moderate, the simple fact of walking, I don't do running exercise, I don't think it's healthy. due to several factors, one of which is that research has shown that most athletes who run and play football or do all the exercises that use the heart more have more heart attacks, perhaps because of the carbohydrates, etc... 6. The most important of all (Follow your Ancestral Food instinct, which was taken from humans) Which ? (When you want to eat more protein, eat, when you want to eat more fat, eat. When you don't want to eat, don't eat) Do you want to gain weight? Exercise with moderate weight I hope I contributed in some way

GP’s check fasting blood glucose and your hemoglobin a1c to see if you already have type 2 diabetes. What you want to know is what’s keeping your blood sugar normal for all those years .which is RISING INSULIN over the years keeping your blood sugars normal till it can’t cope with all the carbohydrates coming in . Rising insulin causes INSULIN resistance which means insulin can’t get though and the brain can’t process glucose and turn it into energy or anything else without adequate insulin . Look up the works of doctor Weston A Price, he studied primitive tribes in the 1930s, traditional diets were high in meat, seafood and fat, the people adhering to their traditional diet were healthy. When they adopted the flour, seed oil, grain diets their health declined dramatically. Not quite true - even good fats will cause weight gain if you eat enough! If you’re aiming to gain weight while following a low carb diet, here are our top tips: - Eat plenty of calories: While we don’t focus on calorie counting, eating real, nutrient-dense foods can help you stay in tune with hunger and fullness cues. - Ease up on fasting: If you’re practicing intermittent fasting, consider adjusting your fasting window to allow for more eating time. - Eat calorie-dense foods: Opt for foods rich in healthy fats and protein, such as pork, nuts, seeds, avocados and cheese. - Add extra healthy fats: Use olive oil, coconut oil, and butter in cooking to increase your calorie intake.

*Question* I prepare my own Electrolyte solution with potassium, magnesium, and some other salts. Do you have any idea about using *pure potassium acetate* as the potassium source?

Sorry we don't have any info about using pure potassium acetate, but you might enjoy this article about how we were told to avoid salt in the first place! www.defeatdiabetes.com.au/resources/science/show-me-the-evidence-the-salt-myth/

@@defeatdiabetes yes, I am aware of the need for sodium. Using Himalaya salt for my food I get it, but I never measured the daily amount. I know that vinnigar is advised, also for diabetics, and Pottinger recommended potassium acetate in one of his youtube videos.

There is no one size fits all approach to diet. Dr Ede is really focusing on reducing carbohydrates which has a profound impact on metabolic health and has overwhelming evidence to support its efficacy. Why not try a gentle experiment with this approach? We offer a free two trial of our award-winning program that's been developed by doctors and dietitians to help people understand the science and get started on a low carb journey. Consider doing the research yourself, at the NIH library, which is not political. It has papers from all over the world, available for free. Don't be intimidated by your first look at scientific papers. I learned to read them while caring for an elderly parent. The benefits for most people (NOT all) of onions, garlic, fermented cabbage, cruciferous vegetables, and berries is huge. The microbiome is made healthy by these, for most people.

Can prolonged emotional stress lead to cognitive decline…? 🤔
@defeatdiabetes
@defeatdiabetes 3 месяца назад
Potentially! In someone who is chronically stressed, the immune system responds less and less to the high cortisol levels. This is because one of the jobs cortisol does is help regulate inflammation. So when the body becomes desensitised to cortisol, the inflammatory response increases, and inflammation gets out of control.

What I don't understand for folks on the carnivore diet, is who eats just one thing? With all the beautiful food that we can eat - different coloured vegetables, lovely nuts, beans, lentils, healthy grains. Then we have people like Jordan Peterson (don't get me wrong - I love the guy), who ONLY eats beef. I just struggle to get it. I'm a vegetarian and have been for years. I'm so healthy and strong for my age. If you look at the animal kingdom, all of the critters who only eat meat, live short lives - 10 to 15 years max. If you look at the long living critters like parrots, tortoises, elephants etc, all live very long lives. How do we explain that

Rough eye rockfish can live 200 years, eats shrimp and smaller fish. killer whales and crocodiles live 120 years, Greenland shark live 270 years. When you don't eat something or have it in the house, it's like it doesn't exist and you don't even think about it. Fruit and veg has the highest levels of food waste about 45%. Most of the fibre eaten goes right through your digestion and ends up unused in the toilet. We didn't evolve by importing thousands of plant products from around the world. One product can supply all nutrients with many dishes, grass fed meat, liver, blood, and kidneys. intestine

Dr Georgia Ede (in this video) is an advocate of the paleo diet - a diet that includes fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, eggs, nuts and seeds - for brain & mental health. In our Defeat Diabetes program (which is for those living with metabolic disorders like type 2 diabetes), we recommend a low carb diet which can be followed by vegetarians.

At 8:17 She says omega six's only come from animals, apparently she's never heard of the first plant ever cultivated by humankind, hemp seed. Go read, Hemp Seed: The most nutritionally complete food source in the world. A person like this woman should ask herself what all the galactos alpha 1,3 galactos is doing to the body. I think you'll find. The neurodegenerative disorders have more to do with endothelial disease.
