I'm 50 years old now but I remember seeing the video of Frankie and the famous gap when it came out and it definitely turned our little world of skateboarding upside down. Legendary.

I'm 39, quit skating at like 15. Complete tear of acl in 2017 dirt biking, never got the surgery, and still haven't. Started skating again off and on again a couple years ago but now consistent for a few months. You guys can do it! Cycling was tha answer for me I believe, full range of motion, under minimal tension. Just don't give up. And thank God for everyday you got! Skating or not!

I blew out my ACL jumping off my board going down a hill. I was 16. Kept skating, dislocating my knee so many times that I chipped my femur, I never stopped. Got surgery kept going, I still try to skate now , went on a strong 13 year run 🤟🏼. This really speaks to me ✊🏼

My brother ruptured his spleen at 15, tore his ACL twice once at 18, same one at 19, broke one of his toe when 23 and still skates to this day. He just turned 37 been skating since a kid and still on a deck to this day! One of the big reasons why I still skate too 🤘🛹

@@benn255b3 Sounds like me haha. 2 torn ACLs, torn achilles, broken toe that's never quite healed, multiple other serious injuries .. 35, still shreddin, still learning new tricks, in great shape. "A body in motion stays in motion." Ya gotta want it though, it comes with a price.

blew my right knee out in April 1990 launching off a ramp in the front yard. it really sucks when you know you're never gonna be the same again. Frankie was huge influencer for me as a kid in a small town in Nebraska skating in the latre 80's, much respect amigo

I had a complete tear of my acl from playing ice hockey when I was 17. I kinda thought it was sprained knee so I kept doing athletic stuff. I tell you there is no pain worse than when your knee gives out from not having an acl!!!!! Had the surgery about six months later and my knee has been a champ since.

Me being from Ventura and back in the late 80’s and 90’s we skated the Powell skatezone and Frankie hill was a top rad dude we all loved. Miss those days and the progression. I’m in the same situation with a bad knee surgery gone bad. I got bummed at my surgeon and now he won’t even return my calls. Miss skating so much 😢

Frankie Hill is 100% skateboarding. My first skating hero. This story reminded me of Ryan Kenreich (RIP). One injury can end your whole career. Really makes one awestruck at how so many legends are still on their boards.

blew out my ACL when I was 28 after about 14 years of skating, was out of skating for about a year and a half and hwen I got back into it i never was back at anywhere near the level I was at when I got hurt, all down hill from there, but I did get to skate until I was about 39 and at that point I had to quit. Knee started swelling up and locking up at weird times when skating, the stress and strain was too much. I quit while I was ahead, i didn't want to go the rest of my life with chronic knee pain or other issues

I blew my ACL skating gathering footage for a local shop willing to sponsor me at 15 (I'm 34 now). You need that shit fixed FAST. The quicker a tendon is fixed, the better and stronger it will be on the bounce back. Scar tissue develops and that shit becomes HARD, to fix. Mine was bounced around the NHS for almost a year (I continued to skate on it, it kept slipping and popping again multiple times) until I finally got surgery. By this point so much scar tissue had accumulated. It ruptured again after surgery as I stepped off a curb walking across the damn street 😭. Word of advice to the youts because this is so common, get it fixed as fast as you possibly can. STRENGTHEN YOUR LEGS!! The muscles, the tendons, the joints. Strength train to support your skating from an early age and you will be skating for life man!!

I am 50. This past summer I kept getting hurt. Now my forearm gets sprained for no reason. And my dexterity is just gone. I can’t risk any sort of fall. I have been in mourning for 3 months now.
