How Go Karting Was Invented 

Very nicely done. My father and I started racing karts in 1961 in Los Angeles, CA. Art Ingel's was a regular at our home track, Monza Speedway in Gardens and my father Wally Wallick drove Art's Caretta brand kart for ten years. We went to visit him at his home/shop in Echo Park, LA when I was 15. The shop was his 2 car garage. Each Caretta was made to order one at a time and had the level of quality you'd expect from a Indy car builder. Now, I am a 74 year old man living in the Thai jungle building an Experimental Kar with a full body, canopy, twin Yamaha 150cc, water cooled two stroke motorcycle engines and 6 speed gear boxes. I call it the GXP-75. That stands for Grit's Experimental Prototype @ 75 years old. Hope to have it completed by my birthday December 22, 2021. Look for it on RU-vid early next year. Louis Borelli was my neighbor in Echo Park in the 60s and 70s. My older step brother worked for him in the 1950s. His shop was a brick building on Echo Park Avenue.

Fun fact: Ayrton Senna (I believe) promised his family that if he won the world karting title, he would quit racing and go work on the family farm. Lo and behold, he technically kept his promise and left one of the most impactful (if tragically short) careers in racing history. At least that’s what my mum told me. If anyone wants to fact-check me, feel free to do so, but if you could provide a link, I would be grateful too.

Karting has got a lot faster. Parma, made in 1961 is .28 miles. Its modern counterpart, GoPro Motorplex, is .7 miles, or 3 times as long as Parma. The karts have gotten so much faster, that they need much bigger tracks.

Daytona Milton Keynes, as it is now, started out life as the James Hunt Race Center before (I believe) going bust. It was then aquired by Daytona. My son races in the Inkart series and it's a fantastic way for kids to get into karting for a reasonable cost.

Stuff like go karts have been around alot longer then most people give credit for. It's not till "California" does it that it's stated as starting.

Do you know a vehicle that looks like a go-kart,has big engine and race in ovals.I saw a youtube documentary now I can't find it.(not a superkart and looks more like enduro kart)
