If I had to try to fix the Bozar for A-tier, I'd suggest something like 12lb weight, 6 required strength, and 22 damage. The power of the weapon should better reflect it's massive caps cost.

Compared to other automatic guns, in performance, this thing only really only out competes the Automatic Rifle(with it's shit durability and accuracy). I really want to like the Bozer more, but I try to run it and always end up wanting an alternative after so long. You comparison to it being awkwardly stuck between a Marksman Carbine and the Light Machine Gun is spot on.

Automatic Rifle also becomes an incredibly powerful weapon with its high base damage and extreme DPS if you're utilizing the unlimited supply of Steady and repair kits provided during and after Dead Money, so the Bozar doesn't even have advantages like that going for it. Try that, by the way! Buying a huge supply of Steady is surprisingly cheap (especially since the free chips in the bunker refill regularly) and putting it on a hotkey will change your life. Perfect accuracy whenever you want it!

@@Caeleb1234563 That does sound useful and I'll have to try that. I almost feel like that was intentional for the Auto Rifle given the context of Dead Money's difficulty, pushing resourcefulness of what is available. That said, if you have to spam a chem and repair kits to make a weapon more competitive to it's contemporaries, that still tells us on a base level, that weapon lacks heavily in some areas, as I said.

In vanilla NV, the jury rigging perk is set up for the weapon skill and animation set (how it's held). Due to this, the cheap and plentiful service rifle can be used as repair fodder.

As you say it's an odd weapon. Sometimes though the devs put weapons in the games for role playing rather than meta-gaming purposes. If you want to play a heavy gunner build in New Vegas this does give you a sort of sniper option but I'd personally save my 5.56 ammo for the Ratslayer, All American or That Gun

As you said this is a very strange weapon. It really appealing since it has one of a kind look into it and the price speaks that it must have alot to offer, what sucks is I guess its trying to fill a role that it failed to do of being a Jack of all trades.

The lmg totally out classes the bozar, pretty sure the lmg has perks to make it better the bozar doesn't.

@@Scatt2k7 you mean the grunt perk which can't effect the bozar because grunt is a honest hearts perk. You have the same problem with all dlc weapons not from honest hearts. The dumb thing is obsidian knew this but they didn't increase the base damage to compensate for it leaving weapons like the bozar in a awkward position. I never use the assault carbine grx despite having faster fire rate and being more durable when fully modded because grunts 25% damage boost.

I'm 99% sure Jury Rigging lets you repair Bozar with assault rifle type weapons like the service rifle.

Bozar can be repaired with service rifles, marksman/assault carbines, sniper rifles, and machine guns with Jury Rigging. Also, surplus rounds are the hidden gem of FNV. Cheap to buy in bulk, and they do a bit more damage. So long as your weapon is easily repareable, like all of the self loading rifles are, it's a great alternative to regular 5.56.

Okay good to know, i wanted to make a build with bozar but it caught up with min maxing my guns characterand i wast really sure howto get the most out of BozarI was like it would've been great if it worked with grunt@@joolsmacgrools1288

I definitely think the weapon was made for VATS. It mainly competes with the Light Machine Gun for a similar full auto roll. In which case it has higher dps and is more accurate at longer ranges. Buts its a very miniscule change and doesn't really make it better than the LMG which is arguebly just as good if not better in VATS due to dps not mattering, having the same AP cost while still maintaining higher damage per bullet. But its accuracy bonus makes it a lot more usable than the LMG.

btw, how do you build for VATS? im on my way to try bozar or plasma defender, both in vats build but i've never even tried one so, whats your suggestion on vats build besides action boy perk?

@@dinzhurkabaev VATS is better used with weapons that have either very low AP or fire multiple rounds per Action in VATS. Best to use however are full auto weapons with high base damage. Such as the Automatic Rifle and Smitty Special. If you're using a plasma weapon then Plasma Spaz is a must. Center of Mass is probably the most important perk. It's a free 15% damage boost for hitting the chest. It's effect is stronger on weapons that shoot multiple projectiles or shoot multiple times per action like shotguns or full auto. You want both high points into Agility and Luck. Since VATS is very powerful with crits and Agility gives more AP.

@@dinzhurkabaev yes! VATS also naturally gives a free 5% crit bonus. This helps out weapons with underwhelming crit chances.

I think trigger discipline and match ammo are pretty much mandatory to truly enjoy what the Bozar can do. But it’s fine otherwise, as long as you don’t bankrupt yourself while trying to attain it. There are definitely better weapons to burn your money on early game, but it’s still got its uses down the line.

I would have given it 27 Dam, 0,4 spread, 50 rounds mag but reduced item health and maybe 20 lbs to make up for the lack of perks that back it up and add ap back to the .223. The weapon repair kits you get from the vending machines trivialize weapon repair. I should dust of the geck and make a mod for it.

Could you maybe start using vats once in a while in order for us to see how the weapon performs there? Like for instance I haven't done a melee or unarmed run yet and you sometimes say something about a special vats attack. I would love to see those!

In my opinion the Bozar needs to be a high DAM, high fire rate and accurate weapon that utilizes .308 or .50 in order to fulfill its original (although unintended) design. As it stands it's just a shitty combination of a Marksman's Carbine and a Light Machine Gun. Allow it to absolutely shred enemies at the cost of the rapid consumption of rare and expensive and heavy rounds that could otherwise be used with more precise but slower firing weapons.

It's an automatic non silent heavy sniper rifle. Its scope range is poor, it weighs a ton and costs a ton, it's weapon strength req is super high, it's spread is bad and for some reason it only holds 30 shots at a time before a reload.. But it does look fantastic so 9/10 worth the caps (Seriously though I'm pretty sure this gun is supposed to be a joke/meme weapon anyway given its based on the Fallout2 Bozar which was of course iconic for being a glitchy broken mess)

the question I have is this: would you ever use the standard 5.56 instead of the AP variant? For me, the 5% doesn't really matter, even on unarmoured opponents.

That’s a fair point. One could argue the AP rounds aren’t so easy to come by, but as soon as you’re friends with either the NCR or the Khans it immediately becomes a moot point. FWIW, I think the Khans are a better option overall, but I still wouldn’t look past buying from the NCR.

Its a dumb weapon but as it's one of a kind I totally buy some gunsmith making the cursed thing.Its also just better with match rounds which allow it to be a much better sniper machinegun whatever it is.

Imho, I'd put it into the C or even D tear because of the amount of effort you have spend to go get that gun and investment in strength. Meanwhile, there are tons of weapons better than the Bozar

It isn’t that bad unless you’re rocking Fast Shot, which is one of the better traits but unfortunately nerfs this weapon. Trigger discipline makes it more viable, and Hand Loader even more so.

Ha ha ha haaaa! Sorry- nothing to do with this video but I'm riding a high! The C4 and detonator you find in sierra madre combined with demolition charges from the vending machines, dynamite and frag grenades, throw it ALL down!! You can sneak out of the vault like a lot of people know about but then turn around detonator in hand and blow Eilajah away!!! So cool! A must try! All the gold and most of his limbs off! Yeeeeh! I feel like that guy who won the lottery!

Don't like the bozar myself, too expensive and ugly. Prefer the free cz57 avenger that comes with bonus party hat! I do use surplus for the avenger, low cost thousands of rounds and all I need to do is loot materials and craft weapon repair kits- not as bad as you would think, no encounter is big enough to cause really significant damage and works well enough even below 3/4 item health. All American is again, free! and so much better even without full auto.

I've used it a couple of times and it honestly just feels bad imo. There are just too many options that work better. If you want a auto weapon the Assault Carbine is just better. The 5mm lets you shred atmored enemies and unarmored with the HP rounds. All American/ the Marksman Carbine are just a much better 556 weapon. Add to that the massive cost of the Bozar and it's just a bad option imo.

The Bozar has no idea what it wants to be and so isn't really good at anything it tries to be. It's got too much spread to be a sniper rifle, too small a magazine to be a machine gun, it's awkward to fire from the hip, but the scope makes a bad choice for fighting close up enemies. I never buy it unless I manage to grab all of the gold from Dead Money and want to spend my fortune.
