Peja Stojakovic was one of the greatest shooters in NBA history. During the 2000s, he was a major contributor on those Sacramento Kings teams that were contending for the title. However...nowadays he's been slowly forgotten. So how good was he actually? Enjoy!
I make all kinds of NBA videos which include trivia, analysis, player stories, countdowns, conspiracies, and mysteries. Make sure to leave a like and subscribe if you enjoyed this video!

Peja was a beast. People overlook team roles, coaching, injuries and the league's choice for their face for marketing. Peja influenced me a lot when I became a good high school player. Many considered Stojaković the best player after Garnett in 03-04. I think he finished 4th in MVP voting. He also played beautifully at 2001 Eurobasket (MVP) and 2002 World Cup. Beating USA in their own house and eventually getting gold medal is surely his biggest accomplishment.

Peđa has nothing on Yugoslavia you refer to, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. His family had to escape as Croatians destroyed their home. He lived and played basketball in and for FR Yugoslavia. He played for Crvena Zvezda in junior and senior age group before fleeing to Greece as many players from Serbia did in 90s. Serbian clubs were banned from taking part in international competitions and national team was only allowed to compete in 1995. Name Yugoslavia was kept until 2003 as some people still believed that Yugoslavia had a chance.

Thank you for doing a video on him. One of my favourites and in my opinion a hall of famer. Great 3 point shooter. Sucks injuries got the best of him, Atleast he had great run with dallas in 2011. Man those early 2000's kings team were fun.

Peja was a much better 1 on 1 player than you think. I watched every game of the Kings run. He and Divac played so well together. His backdoor cuts Divac would find him.His amazing step back was deadly. His 1st years in the league he was a spot up shooter His ball handling got so much better around "2001". You dont score 24 a night being. a spot up shooter. His '02' WCF performer was bad.But he was seriously hurt. I believe he missed most if not all of the series vs Dallas. He couldn't cut and that was his game the jab step and step back plus backdoor cuts. On top of that Rick Fox played him tougher than anyone. I hated Fox !! He would get into Peja's Jersey. I think Peja was vastly underrated. His defense also really improved !! His 1st couple years he got worked but he got bigger and stronger and once Bobby Jackson , and Doug Christie came . The Kings because a much improved defensive team. As well as Hedo played in the WCF vs LA I believe the Kings would of beat them in 5 with a healthy Peja. The Kings were the best team in '02'. The officiating cost them a title.Even as bad as it was if they hit their fts in game 7 they win with everything against them. I truly believe the best team didnt win in 2002. The officiating in game 6 made sure there would be a gm 7. Also the 3pt shot Walker hit at the buzzer in game 4 before halftime they allowed. There would of never been a Horry shot. Everything went against Sacramento in that series.16 years later as I type this it still bothers me. Hardest loss I ever felt in sports. It took 2 weeks before I could talk about it. In closing good video I enjoyed it.

When Webber got hurt in the playoffs in 2003, Peja lead the Kings for most of the following season. With Webber out, he was competing with T-Mac for the scoring title and leading the Kings to one of the best records in basketball. He was putting up MVP numbers until Webber returned and the team chemistry got jacked up because he refused to come off the bench.

There are some players who left a solid mark on the NBA, most notably: Drazen Petrovic, Peja Stojakovic, Toni Kukoc and Vlade Divac. And today, there are some fine NBA players, born in the states of former Yugoslavia, coached and influenced by YUG basketball experts. Some of them are: Goran Dragic, Nikola Jokic, Bojan Bogdanovic, Jusuf Nurkic, Nikola Vucevic...

It is not quite as simple as the greatest player to ever come out of yugoslavia. Down here most concider Petrović to be the best if not the greatest ever, he just died too young, Divac is up there, so are guys like Bodiroga (who never played NBA but still), Divac and so on. BTW if you concider guys from modern countryes that used to be Yugoslavia, guys like Dragič, Dončič, Jokič, Nurkič, Vučevič, both Bogdanovič, Šarič, Marjanovič, Mirotič, Bjelica...this team would probably even be a problem for USA.
