General Grievous is most famous for his Jedi-related activities, but he did some other even worse stuff.

Grievous, "I'm off to do a genocide!" Sidious and Tyranus, "Yeah, you go have fun."

Grevious was meant to be a weapon of pure terror that the Sith would have used to create a very powerful military to protect the citizens of the Galactic Republic from such a monster, and ironically all this would be a blueprint of how many will see Darth Vader.

I’m surprised Grievous didn’t employ the use of brain-rot plague during the Battle of Coruscant.

Dooku and Palpatine wouldn't of let that happen. The Clone Wars was political theater, not total war.

Such slander against loving husbando, Grievous. Say what you will about him, but he always came home.

I really enjoy the more competent and scary Grievous we got outside of ROTS and the 2008 series. They gave him a really cool backstory and a very legit reason to hate the republic and the jedi that they never really explored all that much because George unfortunately wanted him to be a cowardly mustache twirler which I think was a mistake. Much more compelling in his earlier portrayals in my opinion.

I would’ve stripped the “moustache twirling villain” treatment of Grevious and gave it to Pong Krell instead because he looks more like a comical character to me, and don’t get me wrong he does the slaying part real good, but imagine the possibility of spouting out jerk moments before getting mollywhopped. Speaking of Grevious, the 2008’s Clone Wars should’ve continued with his armored plate unbend after getting Force Gripped by Mace Windu having him be high alert of that ability next time and then some.

He was the very closest thing to a Terminator terrorizing the galaxy fighting Jedi and clones with Ease.

“War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.” “I would make this war as severe as possible, and show no symptoms of tiring till the South begs for mercy.” “If the people raise a great howl against my barbarity and cruelty, I will answer that war is war, and not popularity seeking.” “This war differs from other wars, in this particular. We are not fighting armies but a hostile people, and must make old and young, rich and poor, feel the hard hand of war.” - William Tecumseh Sherman In a lot of ways I feel like Grievous was the CIS Sherman, send him out to brutally kill combatants and non-combatants alike in an attempt to destroy the enemy’s will to fight back.

I imagine that's exactly how the CIS parliament justified his methods.

Isn't that Horus' mentality when he rose against the Emperor of Mankind?
@westrim

And yet for all that, Sherman was still relatively moral even by our standards. He was 'just' destroying all property and supplies with military potential (read: usually not homes and such) and opposition his army came across, just another variant of a scorched earth campaign. The only reasons it stands out are because of the war it was in, exaggeration by Lost Causers, and because it was effective.

@@westrim You know who fits Grievous better? Oskar Dirlewanger, Brutal, frightening, without remorse or pity, the Dirlewanger brigade was used in much the same way Grievous was an instrument of terror, something designed to instill as much fear as possible to deter any potential resistance in Dirlewanger's case or in Grievous's case to any neutral worlds thinking of joining the republic. Also much like Dirlewanger Grievous got his due justice when all was said and done.

Everyone's talking about why pre-TCW 2008 Grievous is best, but in my opinion, I sure miss awesome mccoolnames for military operations like Durge's Lance in current fiction nowadays more. Real life, even. Edit: By the way, I like the semi-intentional angle on Honoghr. Not everything is just a simple accident in war.

Considering the other mass murders Grievous committed, particularly with the Brainrot Plague and the destruction of Humbarine, targeting Humans and Human-settled worlds, it isn't actually too surprising people in the increasingly Human-centric Republic forgot about some random planet in the Outer Rim. The ignoring and neglect of the Outer Rim was a massive cause of the Separatist Crisis in the first place.

Yeah, never saw the Clone Wars as something less than the Vong invasion, it's just that in the latter's case the story emphasisez the destruction part much more, and the Clone War's destruction was overshadowed by first the far more important political changes and the sunscequent Imperial buildup, which certainly allowed them to quickly overcome the damage.

Grevious, although is certainly a user of weapons of massed destruction when it served his purpose as a means of sowing chaos and achieving his military aims. He is also a talented and ruthless military commander for the CIS, whom hadn't been shackled by his sith masters, might have won the war for the separists

This is tangentially relevant at best to the actual subject of the video, but I've come up with a theory that has kind of captured my imagination. As we know, in Season 3 of The Clone Wars, Ahsoka literally got a piece of a Force goddess shoved inside of her to bring her back to life, and then the show never did much of anything with that. Consider also how Fate of the Jedi (which I believe was in the process of being written when the Mortis arc released) left off Abeloth, as being summarily out of the picture for now, but they all know she's technically still alive and the Jedi are looking for the Dagger of Mortis because it's the only thing they know of that can permakill her. I speculate that the writers were planning to use the life essence of the Daughter as a point of relevance to pull Legends!Ahsoka out of whatever stasis she must have been in for the last six to seven decades and ultimately have her be the one to permakill Abeloth by tapping into the power stored within the Daughter's essence. Before, you know, the dark times.

I don't know how the production and behind the scenes logistics of this work but that's a cool theory none the less. Thanks for sharing. Ahsoka in Legends could be a video topic in itself. I remember her being mentioned in the Lone Wolf short story.

Grievous was supreme commander because he was the most controllable and emotionally predicable induvial Dooku had available for that role. Spider guy was too smart and would of had too many questions

Honestly had the CIS won, I don't think Grievous would have stopped till every planet was uninhabitable and every organic dead. It's good he was incapable of feeling the force.
