@@B3LADE Sorry I had to rewatch why I said what I did. He never showed how he got to the Rough sketch. He just loads it up. Now if he had drawn it, he wouldved shown the process but because he traced one of the videos, it shows how stiff it is. Let me say its completlely fine to trace the refrence thats fine, but when you go from talking about Research and jump into "ok we gonna do clean lines" without explaining how they apear. Just come across little disengenuince. But the dude work flow is correct though. Doing animation over and over will make your lines nice and crispy. thats all man. Cheers
*For the novices of animation history:* The caveat to tracing live-action movement is if you 1) purchased the copyright of the footage so you own it or 2) filmed it yourself (e.g. recording a friend or yourself performing the desired movements). That’s what _rotoscoping_ technique is, and has been done legally in animation for over 100yrs (pioneered by the Fleischer Bros in the 1920s, and regularly used by Disney animators)
It depends cause anime is still all hand drawn basically with only the good anime using cgi for difficult stuff which is fine I personally think that ai will never be able to replace animation for a long long time I do think maybe centuries in the future maybe but right now I think ai can maybe replace short ads and still with small animation but full like anime cartoons stuff like that never or incredibly long time
Hi Plainly Simple, Do you know any sites to download free full version of After Effects and Illustrator full version (The ones i tried are only having trial versions). Please help
Hi! I'm sorry but we don't advocate piracy. Please purchase the softwares you are using. We as artist don't want our art stolen, so we should not steal our tools. If you don't want to pay for the Adobe products, I suggest to look for free alternatives like Krita, or Blender. I also read somewhere that DaVinci Resolve is also free.
Hi Tom! Glad you liked it. 😊 I consider teaching as an art. It takes time and skill to arrange and structure the whole tutorial. Glad to know someone noticed it. And you're welcome! 😊
Awesome! Go for it! ❤️ We would be happy to know if you actually did animate 😊 Don't worry if it's going to be bad, we all started at being bad at something, but with practice and repetitions, you'll get good at it. The important thing is you have fun while doing it 😊
In this particular process the design was done in photoshop because that’s the program our designer chose but it can be any program. It was the recreated in adobe animate to be animated
This was just great - you packed this with so much useful information. Really well done. I love what you said about "the longest way being the fastest", it is so true, and it also seems to produce a much better result, in particular, because of how free you can be when rough sketching. I have also tried skipping the process and have gone right to starting with polished frames and I have been so focused on making them perfect, that the result becomes very rigid and void of personality. Terrific video, Marvin 👍
Glad you liked it! I've learned the hard way 😅 I've tried the long way and the shortcuts. And ironically the long way is the faster way 😄 That's why I don't skip the sketch phase anymore 😄 Thanks for watching the video!
It's a really good show of character to not only try to understand where everyone is coming from, but to also recognize your own personal flaws and how they help you to relate to a situation. Not enough people are willing to do that, so kudos to you. Edit: This comment was supposed to be sent to a different video but RU-vid is so broken that it ended up here instead. This video is great regardless lol
"The longest road is usually the fastest". very wise words, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience for free, excellent video. Liked and subscribed! 😀
You’re so welcome! Glad you liked it! And don’t listen to people saying it’s useless to learn animation because of Sora 😄 So here are my thoughts on that: 1. Saying sora will replace animators is like saying canva will replace graphic designers? 2. Following this logic then every person with a camera should become photographers. But not all people with cameras are photographers. Sora is a tool. And if resolves ethical concerns it may become a good tool to use. We’re honestly not bothered by it. So continue to learn animation! 😄
Hi Michael. I use a huion Kamvas 16 inch 2.5k. An ipad with apple pencil is also good, and if you have a mac computer you can use the ipad as a screen, which is pretty cool. I guess this would boil down to cost, and preference. The biggest iPad is 13 inch I think and the one I'm using is 16 inch. The screen quality of the ipad is superior compared to my huion but I'm sure the ipad's screen is also superior compared to the wacom cintiq. The ipad is more portable. So it would boil down which features you value the most. Each product has their own pros and cons.
I don't know which version of iPad pro or macbook does this, but it's already a default feature. It's called Sidecar and it's free. I also think Astropad also have a free version as well.
Thank you so much!! I am in my first year of animation school, the lecturers are all 3D-based, so 2D work is largely self-directed. I have been looking for a video like this for a while, really looking forward to using this tutorial for my next project!
As a Former Animator. Reference real life is a must cos Thats what animation is the animating of life. Even if it exaggerated, an object it still needs too feel lifelike.
Thank you so much for this amazing breakdown, and even very useful shortcuts we'd most likely never find for many years (. _ . ) You may have literally saved lives at this point, and I appreciate someone in the industry, making time in their busy schedule to make tutorials like these ( ̄▽ ̄) This is very invaluable and I absolutely love it (◡ ω ◡)✨ Thank you ( ╹▽╹ )
You're so welcome Eric! Making content like these takes a lot of effort, time and energy esp. if you're an introvert 😅 So, reading your comment refills that energy a bit 😄 Glad to know you found this useful. And thanks for watching 😊
If you wanted to texture the shadows (assuming the colour is flat) you can duplicate the layer and use an extract to essentially solo that colour then add on like a blur and a noise alpha to get a sort of grainy look.
You're welcome and thanks! 😄 Most of our income comes from client work and only a very very small amount from RU-vid 😅 But that's the goal, hopefully our RU-vid earnings would be enough to sustain our studio so we can do this full time 😊
I can't pick one. Each have their own uses. I usually use After Effects when using path animation or motion graphics, and I use adobe animate for frame by frame. It would depend on what I'm trying to animate and the kind of style.
Hi! very imformative video! also I just wanted to make the highlights effects simpler, you can just use "layer styles" and then choose "inner shadow" you can change their blending mode to color dodge or any mode you prefer, its a perfect and simpler way to get that look, plus you can use it for lighting and shadows as well! I hope this helps. I love your videos jeep it up!
Hi! Yes that's another way. That's actually a good way too! 😊 I still prefer the alpha mattes method, as you can control it more freely and even scale or distort it when needed, and it's quick if you want the mask inverted. But if you just want the highlights like the one I showed in this video, then your method is much simpler and quicker to do. 😊
Hi! Yes I use a pen tablet when using ae. And you can make a similar type of animation but not in this process where you draw. AE isn't built for that but it's possible. 😊 When animating in ae I usually use shape layers or rigging 😊
Hi! Yes I do add the color using the paint bucket tool but I always duplicate the line art layer just in case I would need it. Sometimes I duplicate the line art and put it on top, and color with paint bucket the layer below.
this is awesome! I think another way to go frame by frame watching a youtube video is to go backwards 1 frame, type the coma (,) and to go forward 1 frame, type the period (.)
Hi! Glad to know you found this video helpful 😊 A drawing tablet is a device that would allow you to draw on it. There's a drawing tablet that's just a black rectangle, and there's a drawing tablet that's basically a screen. So it's going to be like drawing directly on the screen. You can search for the brands (I'm not sure if I'm describing it correctly here, so it would be better to see it for yourself). Try searching 1. Huion 2. Wacom 3. XpPen
