In this video I'm talking about how you can apply for a Language Course in Seoul, how I experienced it and the challenges I met.
I hope this will be helpful for anyone who is thinking of applying themselves, or is just interested in how the process was.

Disclaimer: All experiences are different, and these are entirely my own. The different universities operate a little differently so my Hongik University application might be different from other universities. Learning is very individual so my experience might be a lot different from yours, so don't lose your focus and do whatever you feel is right !

What about housing? or dorms? what did you do after? did you stay in korea? find a job? did u move back home? Do you they help you find a job if you wish to do so after finishing your course?

Hey Pretty!!! I'mplanning to be back in Seoul for a language course there. Im looking for maaaany information in Yonsei, Hongik,Ewha etc! I'll Apply for fall so.... I have to decide!! Hongik is the cheapest one I saw.... I think! I have been in KR 3 TIMES AND I have been learning korean officially for more than a year now. Would u reccomend Hongik? I really love Hongdae etc location is kinda nice also for looking for mini studio maybe?? THANKS!!! you're sooooo pretty btw!!! hope to see u!!!

hii ! ~ I reccomend Hongik if you like the area and already know your way around studying korean ! I'm really happy with my course even tho I wish there was more oral and speaking practice in the actual classes , but for grammar, hongik is really good ! And I love the Hongdae area myself and have lived in Sangsu, Hapjeong, Sinchon and Yeonheedong area !

It’s actually cheaper to go to college in Korea than in many other countries room and board+ food included

@@nikaloves5sos99 yes there are scholarships if you did good in school/ have an exceptional reason for being accepted. Also if you have big financial issues such as single parent, disabled parents that can’t work and so on, or if you live in an underdeveloped country. But tuition at most language schools is about a couple thousand max for a semester. So college loans wouldn’t be a bad idea seeing as you won’t be in as much debt as everyone makes college debt sound because your only borrowing a few thousand USD rather than 30~50K+

It's great, explaining a lot! I would like to ask You one thing, maybe you know the answer. I can't find any info about it - Now it's possible to apply for at least two semesters, I need to get a bank statement over 10000$ (lets say it will be 11000$ in my case), does that mean that tuition fee is included in this amount? Or does it mean I need to have over 10000$. + extra 3000$ for tuition fee? It may change a lot in my situation. Thank you for this video!! :)

Hello and Thank you ! In my bank statement I had the stated amount I needed before the tuition was paid! This is a little confusing because it all depends on the schools but I'm pretty sure tuition is included in that because the bank statement has to be from like the past month, if im not mistaken ?? It's also almost 5 years since I applied so things might have changed now, but you can contact the school you want to apply for and ask just to make sure ! ~

okayy so let’s say the application period starts in december 14th and is till january 28th, can i apply in january 1st and expect to be accepted or do i have to apply right when the application period starts? im sorry if this sounds messy but english is not my first language😭 im just so stressed cause im graduating in december so im scared that it will be too late if i can apply at the start of january :(

it had to be in my name when I applied because I am the person who is going to live in korea and use that money as an "insurance of my stay" for your student visa ! the amount is to show that you have enough money to stay in korea without working !

To be completely honest, since I haven't done any higher studies in Korea I don't have a lot of experience in that field :( But from what I know they're all around the same prices, but can vary like 100/200$ pr semester

what is the intesity of the program in Hongik Uni? do u have a free time for yourselves and having fun? or is it difficult that u need to practise a lot and have no time to travel around? Thanx! :D

I think it's what you make it out yourself ! The classes are from 8:30 - 2pm so you'll have time in the afternoon, but I do reccomend spending a few hours for homework but there is still a lot of time for you to enjoy korea and you still have the weekends off ! :D I had a lot of fun, but I didn't party a lot as other friends did but I went to a lot of concerts and recordings during nighttime and it was no problem enjoying the both worlds ^^

everywhere it says that the graduation documents should be apostilled.. did you do that? its so weird because it costs around 1200 euros in Germany to get that done

Only when applying for the university under grad and masters programmes ! you don't need it for the language course ~

Actually the rules has changed and u need to have apostille to your graduation paper from summer 2021

After watching your video I realized I can do this.But need a few clarifications.First,if I take TOPIK test and then get into the Korean Language Course,do I still need to take a placement test?Second,what are the career oppurtunities after this course? Can I do masters In Korean Literature and Language? Thanks for this video,this is very informative😻

The language schools do their own placement tests! And then sort everyone into their appropriate levels (it’s a written and oral exam). You can always place out at the beginning of each semester I think (like if you studied ahead during a break you could ask to do another placement test). And if you feel like your class is too hard you can ask to be moved down a level. This is just based off of my experience in Hanyang university’s program though

Hii ! I am not a 100% sure but I think if you take a TOPIK test you still need to take the placement test before entering just to see where you are in terms of the school levels ! but this test is free so there's no additional charges because of it ~ As for oppertunities, the language course is a preperation course for getting into korean universities ! So if you pass level 4 korean you can apply for different university undergrad studies afterwards , but the course itself isn't a university subject ~ I hope this helps and you can do it !!

OH I perhaps didn't specify that part well, I didnt spend 4 years in language school, I only studied for a year :,DD I ended up with a TOPIK 3 ^^

Many people who want to go to college in Korea take their first year in language because it’s then easier to understand the classes later and it’s easier to transfer into the undergraduate classes. Especially if you did subpar to decent in school in your country because Koreas standards are very high.

there's dormitories for the different universities but I don't have any experience with any of them as I just had my own place to stay together with my friends ;; finding housing is very simple in korea, so if you're going with friends i recommend you find a place together instead ! ^^

Do you have to pay everything at once? For example, if I apply for 4 semesters, do I pay all 4 semesters all at once?

you can only pay maximum 2 semesters at once, so if you're planning on doing 4 i reccomend you pay 2 and 2, that way you get the visa for 2 semesters in one go and don't need to renew it after each semester ! ( you can only have the student visa for language school for 2 semestes )
