A hack is close your return valve (knob next to where water goes back in to pool) take that hose off put on drain then your not spraying water like crazy. Just put back after back wash and reopen valve

Jayne I’m going to something called filter balls next season. Check them out, they seem to do a better job than using sand in the filter.

You should un-do the hose connected to the pool and use the cap you pulled off to plug the pool. Connect that hose to the other side and you can shoot the water further away

So you have to reset your pump timer start time every time you back wash? I have my pump start at 7 PM for 8 hours each day. If I back wash in the middle of the day, I need to reset the timer each time?

When I turn the pump on my water does not spray out like yours, it just pours out. Brand new sand and brand new filter. I even hooked up exactly how you have it. Somehow sand is coming out into the pool.

Hi there. I’m new to the pool world and recently purchased an intex Krystal clear sand pump and am having trouble with low flow on filter mode. I am going to try this when I get home but do you also think it would help the flow if I shortened my hoses leading to the pool? The hoses are so long and I wasn’t sure if this was slowing down my water flow! Thanks in advance!

Mine lets water out the drain in modes other than filter.

I know this is an older video, but I just got the same one the other day. Did you have any issues keeping it outside with the elements? The instructions say to keep it away from the weather but I don't know how folks with above ground pools can do that since most of us don't have any type of screened in area. Thank you.

I leave mine out during the swimming season and take it into the garage when I close the pool for the winter.

Looks like the base supports for the u legs cracked in half. So did mine. How much of was the level? And was is still safe to use?

Do you ever get a gfci trip with a green flashing light? Our filter is only a few weeks old and just yesterday stopped staying on and keeps turning off. It’s been solid all this time up until yesterday.

My gfci was bad out of the box. Try replacing with another gfci plug from the store if you are comfortable. It's not hard.

I did not, but that does not mean you should. I followed the instructions and I don't remember it being mentioned.

Hello I back wash for first time setup. But when I went to rinse the clock 🕒 was going to red. Any ideas what I did wrong? Do you leave the seating on filter all the time, or you turn off when not using it?

I guess it depends on how dirty your filter is.... I do mine for a minute to a couple of minutes on each cycle. It says in the manual, to backwash until the water runs clear in the small sight glass by the gauge. Thank you and you are welcome.

Did you say you backwash and rinse once a week? Should I do this before I shock it and add more chlorine? I want to do everything on a certain day so I can remember.

That is how I do it, I backwash and rinse once per week and then add chemicals. Seems to work for me.

When I backwashed mine, sand came out. Is that normal? I then rinsed it & put it back to filter but sand went into the pool.

A bunch of sand? Sometimes mine will put a small amount of sand out, but not a lot.

I am not sure, it sure washes a lot if gunk out of my filter. You can always clean your filter out and replace the sand. It is easy, I have a video about replacing the sand.

I’m see this comment 8 mo after the fact… but the “WASTE” setting pulls water directly from pool without forcing it through the pump aka bypassing it… which does nothing to help clean your sand/filtration. Waste would be used for vacuuming heavy debris from pool that you don’t want entering pump.
