I made the decision to get serious at 23 and labeled myself an Artist and I started taking commissions and paying my bills with my artwork! I encourage you to keep creating and stick with it! I had more than a few setbacks, I changed “titles” so many times but at the core I was an Artist.There are so many wonderful ways to make money today! Young artists are truly benefiting from social media and new ways to earn! I started 37 years ago, I believe that you have a real work ethic that can succeed! Don’t let others discourage your efforts to become the best you can be, or desire. I am also looking forward to seeing your new studio, good luck!

Real artists don't work for money, if someone wants to buy you art that's different, but if you do commissions, you are a designer, get a real job and you can afford any art supplies you want, and then your art won't be tainted by your need for cash

I usually never leave comments about myself,, and it took me a while to get the balls to say this Slew.. i was always drawing as a kid, even won awards in high-school and shit. I strayed off my path and lost 12 years to dope, even prison didn't stop me from destroying myself. As of last month I've been clean for 2 years, and about a year ago I got back into drawing. You have no clue how much your content inspires me bro, I literally bust at the seams with inspiration and learn so much. My reason for commenting is to let you know as a 30 year old man how much you help me. I hope you are proud of yourself man, you have a good thing going and I know you will have so much success. This is just the beginning for you. Sorry for the long comment, take care man.

Dude this was super inspiring thanks for sharing your journey - ive literally just started my own journey (very late to the game haha im 24 and only just realising that this is something that can be a fulltime thing) in wanting to be a fulltime artist and only now trying this have realised how much hard work in so many different aspects goes into it (not just making a piece of art, but all the behind the scenes things that people dont realise) and I'm trying to stay positive and stick with it knowing theres a long way ahead but I know if nothing comes from it at least I've enjoyed making art and will never regret trying! I might try making more youtube videos now from hearing this so thank you for the insight :)

@@zhernandoz43 no emotion deserves to be dispelled. The point is to feel it. What you then decide to do with that is up to the individual. Envy can absolutely be toxic indeed, But I see envy more as a motivator. I.e I was envious of slews work ethic so now I push myself a little harder, and practice more. And my artwork is improving because of that. Definitely not a bad thing 😁

These kinds of vids are really inspiring! I have a bunch of artist children & I share your stuff with them. I've very much enjoyed seeing your progression as an artist and as a person making a living with your art. You have such a pleasant attitude and a clear, non-assuming, friendly way of chatting with the viewer. The hard work you put into your video editing really shows too. Your work ethic is commendable, as is your apparent bias for action to make your dreams happen. As a 21 years old artist currently trying to get into art school this is inspiring to me. I still got a lot to plan ahead business wise as in ways i plan to earn money to make ends meet fulltime as an artist which i hope to accomplish. Thanks for making this video! Art school is not worth it, you are better off taking classes in skillshare or similar websites. I have a bachelors degree in graphic design, by the time I graduated half of the stuff I learned was outdated, was 80k in debt, and school doesn't guarantee you will succeed, nor will make it easier.

Always wanted to become a full time artist myself but I’ve become so discouraged. At 45 single father of 4 and having to work a “normal” day job full time, by the end of the day I do not have the energy to put into that goal. Tried livestreams in the past but between not having time and energy, I can be extremely introverted which doesn’t help the whole social media part of things. You are inspiring however.

You've not got to just want it to make it, you've got to WANT it. Willing to sacrifice to an insane level, mainly time but also money and relationships. Re-investing, non-stop, for years, with no guarantees. That's what it takes
