We need 3 of these beautiful staircases! One for the cat in the barn, one for the 2 cats in the garage and one for the 10 cats in the house! My husband is retired, so MAYBE he can do this. Your cat is very lucky that you are such a wonderful cat dad!
I don't have cats but I have an Australian Shepard who loves to climb. This idea is perfect for what I have in mind for his crate for multiple levels of exploring. Great video.

I doubt there are too many craftsmen or craftswomen who can still construct a spiral staircase by hand these days. Not only is it beautiful but it looks gentle on the cat's muscles, very stable and terrific views. High quality cat real estate! Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely gorgeous, and liked that after showing how to do each section at reg speed, it was sped up to show all without taking forever to do so! Really nice music too. Only change I would have made would be to continue carpet up pole a little higher, and install 1 1/2" - 2" deep cups nailed to steps from below every three or four steps to hold small pots of cat nip, cat grass and maybe treats. The cups would hold pots in place and not allow them to be pushed off or tipped over by the cat. That is something my cat, Grant likes to do every chance he gets. I think he just like to watch me clean up after him, because he always watches me scoop his litter box! Awsome job, man, really!

I sew and knit plus a few more things and people always tell me I should sell it. I just say once you start selling it it becomes a job and that takes the fun out of it. I would suggest selling the instructions. In fact, I’d be the first to buy them, because I really want to build this. Which I probably could if my math skills weren’t so compromised which makes getting the spiral figured out near impossible. Even yet, I couldn’t come close to making one that looks as beautiful as yours.
Fantastic. I've been thinking of an unusual cat tree that I could make for my cats. you have inspired me. I might try to make something similar but a helter skelter ramp instead of stairs.

Tools and techniques alone make this video a gem. I was looking for simple ideas to frame something I can upholster with carpet(*carpet installer). Naturally I clicked on my old nemesis- spiral staircases :) It came out fantastic! There is something we use in carpet installation called 'seam sealer'- a white latex liquid. If you run a bead on the edges of that carpet after cutting and trimming it wont unravel so easily. Elmers white glue would also work. It locks the 2 layers of backing together that hold the yarns in place. Also. Lucky cat :)
I liked the portion where you are turning the wood. First looks like a couple of blocks and a chisel but couldn't quite tell. Second looks like a version of a pencil sharpener where the block has a blade inserted. Not sure on either but would like to know? How did you drive the wood with the drill without it tearing out and spinning?
Wow, this is wonderful craftsmanship, just beautifully well done and with minimal amount of tools not typically thought as being used in this way! And the music, so beautiful and well chosen and played at the proper volume, and gorgeous kitty who obviously deserved the grand staircases high treehouse, Bravo! Well Done!! Amazed!! @@frenchriversprings Do a search for Garry Knox Bennett nail cabinet... It is quite a story, he made a museum quality cabinet with curved glass and he said it was just getting to precious so he pounded a big nail into the door and bent it over, crazy!!
