I'm not a coach, just a fan. But I love videos like this that explain in detail what we see in seconds on the field. I always like having a deeper understanding of how play design and play calling works. This video is a bit over my head, but thanks for making this anyway, really educational. I'm going to ask a really dumb question here: When drawing up a play like that, how do you know where to draw those little blocking lines? Like how can you know in advance the play will work because defense isn't standing still, they're moving to counter what you draw up.

Can't speak for coach but football isn't free lanced. Based on a formation sound defense warrants a certain couple different alignments. No less than 7 gaps no more than 10. Sound defense accounts for all of em.

PST: G-O-D (Gap-On Down) PSG: G-O-D C: Gap- On- Back BSG: Wrap playside to LB BST: Gap-Hinge Rules are same, regardless of the front. The combo double team will be different vs different fronts, but the rules will hold up. Thanks for the GREAT question. Coach Chip

@@brianhackett7163 vs a 4i, the PST will drive the 4i because his rule is Gap-On-Down. The 4i is in the gap that the PST is responsible for.
