Thank you everyone for all the support! Please check out this quick message I made expressing my gratitude and also a better 1:1 comparison of the before and after: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eE0E9gqi_Rc.html I wish I had edited it together the way it is in that video rather than changing aspect ratios and zooming in as I did in this one. More cool content soon! Cheers!
OMGGGG I HAD THE SPIDER MAN CARTOON MAKER!!!!!!!!!! I used to play with that for hoooooouuuurrrss!!!! led me to study 3d animation and now I'm a graphic designer, boooo! lol
Do you know where to find the unedited video of Jurassic Park, Avengers or other films? This means the video on which the green screen can still be seen or the actor still has the motion tracking suit on. I would be very happy about an answer. Thaks in Advance.
Wow it's really great to see the whole thing end to end. No joke on being a serious generalist who can pull off this level of finesse in each part of the workflow. Looking forward to more!
Glad to have inspired you. If it’s a goal of yours don’t give up and when you hit frustrating moments remember that is a part of learning and you are just on one side of many breakthroughs you’ll have. All the best.
This is insane ! the amount of details you put into this is just top notch really wish i had a rig that good for my models, love the muscle details on the sculpt and blendshapes, saw you're other work on instagram gotta say you're art are brilliant, you're attention to detail in likeness is phenomenal can't wait to see more !
Thanks for going thru all of the steps when it came to making this VFX. It helps me better understand these kind of shots and what’s needed to pull them off.
You deserve a standing ovation, coz you took us through the whole journey, which others would want us to pay them to at the least have a sneak peek on!
Great, I'm just starting out with MAYA and this is a huge inspiration for me to stay focused on the path of animation. Because whenever I want to animate, I just feel like it's a slow and hard work. But after seeing you compare it to your dreams, I feel like it's not slow and hard anymore.
I'm so glad games industry is heading towards correctives, they are so much nicer than having to work out joints or even pose decomposition. This was really cool to see how it's done in production as opposed to games!
It’s so cool to see the process from someone behind these movies, I would love to have like a full tutorial series on how to make Hollywood level VFX or one where you delve deeper on anatomy.
If you did this in your home, imagine what you could do if Marvel hired you. The CGI in this character would be 100000000000 times better. Congratulations on this amazing job 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I feel like I've just been let in on some heavily guarded industry secrets, so valuable, thank you so much. I have Maya but I don't even know where to begin. Cheers.
It almost ends up looking like a children's animated series of a young SpiderMan. Usually those have low quality animation, though, so that's one major difference. This is much higher quality!
this video has been in my recommended multiple times and I finally clicked and was amazed to see that this wasnt a channel with a million subscribers! congrats and please make more like this
This is amazing! Best thing I’ve seen in a while, super excited to see what you upload in the future! I’m currently studying to become a Concept Artist but I love the “magic” behind visual effects, so I’ll definitively be looking into your work!
I find it so interesting that after all of this intensive work, it still doesn't look photoreal. And that's not to diss you, what you have shown here is truly informative. I think there's probably a lot of lighting, reflections, and colour grading that helps. Also how those materials look really flat here which I don't really understand, is that to do with resolutions, or is that all about grazing angles, getting the light to catch the bumps? But that just makes me think how for the films they have so many more specialised teams come together to make something look great. But thank you so much for sharing your expertise! Definitely a new subscriber.
This is more informative than half the classes I took on 3D at university - thank you for sharing your knowledge so freely!! I somehow was never really taught the whole vfx process from the start all the way to the finished shot, ending up with some gaps in my knowledge, so thank you! I love seeing the breakdown of the entire process, and your passion for the subject clearly shines through 😊
your work is incredible! I watched this video like five times! The video is super interesting and fun to watch! And It’s the only maya tutorial on RU-vid with perfect results! Love your work! 😍 I wish I could make stuff like you! 😅
Thanks for the breakdown of your artistic process, I've just started today learning 3d modelling as a hobby & am a life long spidey fan. New subscriber and fan!
hey i too work with blender, but this this is mind blowing!! like i used to think that there was a real suit for spider man but these efforts oh man hats off to you
This is amazing. I had an interest in this field when I was younger, even went to university for it but I left midway through due to somethings and now and again get the urge to try and get back into it. Knowing the time it takes to do pushes me away because free time is scarce but this is one of those videos that make my urge grow and its with possibly my favourite character. So glad I found this channel, although I'd be using blender because I can't afford Autodesk but used it in school, I can still take inspiration and learn some things ✌🏽
Just take it a little at a time, you can do it even if it takes a little longer. Keep at it. I believe in you. Good luck, all the best! Thanks for watching!
I’ve said this since Homecoming came out: I hope they remaster Civil War one day since understanding how the suit’s design translates when it’s physically made. He looked great in both FFH and NWH but the suit looked like it was made of different material and functioned differently even between scenes in Homecoming. Suspension of disbelief wants to just buy it’s the same suit in Civil War and Homecoming but they’re so completely off. I’m saying this because your work here looks like it should just be pasted right over the entire airport battle and ferry sequence.
Most superhero films as they progress have slight variations to the suits even when they are supposed to be the same in the story. Toby’s suit changed, but you have to look closely to notice. Each movie makes new advancements, has new challenges etc. I love them all. Having a real suit does help even for reference, when I was doing this type of shot work for Ant-Man I was able to actually wear parts of the suit while I worked to see how it moved. Thanks so much for your kindness and for watching!
@@3dcharacterartist649 totally. Not to be so jaded and dismiss the work of all the artists on Civil War but the difference between that and the rest of the appearances doesn’t need to be looked at closely to notice. It’s not a damnable offense because they were on a time crunch and the physical suit hadn’t been made. I would just appreciate them going back and fixing it like they did with some Star Wars VFX. With the evolution of Tobey’s suit across his trilogy, we know he had to restore it after each film from the damage of the final battles. Tom literally carries the Civil War suit up in a case at the beginning of Homecoming and it’s very different from how it looked before. It’s a nitpick but it always stood out to me, then the inconsistencies just within Homecoming where it went from picture-ready to full PS2.
This genuinely looks cleaner than the actual spider-man vfx in the movies. Maybe it's because of the specific direction of the lighting or i just really dig the proportions of the spider-man suit. Either way, this is absolutely amazing
Please please PLEASE keep going! I am such a beginner in VFX and this has already started expanding my brain! Loved every bit of this and am super excited to learn more from you!
This was amazing, great job! Being completely out of the loop in everything 3D-related, I was amazed through every step of the process! I have a question that came to my mind after watching it, though. Tom Holland was wearing a motion capture suit in the original shot, and I've read something about some films doing a full body scan (using some device with many cameras) to help with the CGI process. Are those incorporated in the film? Like, could the scan be used to provide at least a first template for the model, and then use the motion trackers to have an alpha version of it in movement (obviously, to be fine-tuned later by actual VFX artists)? I appreciate you making the model from scratch and manually imposing it over the shot, and I understand how well it works as a demo, but I wonder if those work when you're working in the actual films.
For a production, yes most likely they would scan the actor and then we would build a CG suit on top of that. From there most of the process is the same. You are correct the actor is wearing a mocap suit and if I had that data I’d have been able to use it to help with the animation. Not every shot works like that though and some use this very same process when that is the case. Thank you for watching, your good questions and for your support. Cheers!
Yes, with many other talented artists and technical wizards. It’s some of my favorite work I’ve done so far and I look forward to potential opportunities in the future to contribute again. I’m a fan just like you. All the best in your journey. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment!
This guy literally giving hearts to everyone! And awesome video dude I too wanted to become a VFX artist but due to some reasons I stopped doing it but this video pumped me up man ... Lots of love 💓💓 from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳
This is super helpful. I just made a Spiderman fan film and definitely ran into limitations with my digi double shots without the “secret sauce.” thanks for sharing all this
I was always interested in the VFX part and finally got a detailed video but there were soooo many things that I couldn't understand and many things I didn't knew but Thankyou ❤️
Dude you are an inspiration. And only less than 4k subs?! I'm joining in! I could learn a lot from your videos before I start actual industry work after I graduate
