Some tips from my experience: 1: Please, do not read your presentation directly. You should have some knowledge of what you are talking about and in the presentation should be the core ideas you want your audience to remember (or make sure they notice). If you are going to read everything, you write a report or an article. 2: Please, for the love of god, don't fill your slides with text. In my school days I saw so many classmates writing paragraphs filling all the screen. Slides are infinite, just extract the core ideas and separate them in diferent slides. A rule my teacher taught me is EACH SLIDE MUST HAVE 8 OR LESS LINES OF TEXT. 3: Please, use a correct color combination. This is not a common problem, but I have seen presentations of Yellow letters on a White background. The powerpoint themes (and common sense) could help you with this.

Lea, as much as I like your content and appreciate your enthusiasm - this is not helpful. A good presentation is not about looks and gimmicks, it's about conveying an idea. And if a single image is sufficient to support that idea, than go with it. DaxVT has some good tips too.
