I have really cut carbs over the years and have maintained my weight and I also lift weights and do cardio, toning and strength training with some yoga and pilates. I do like legumes and roasted or baked sweet potatoes and a occasional bread but mostly gluten free varieties and do some baking occasionally with whole oats and almond flour!!! Have a great day Liz!!! Love your channel :*)
I noticed that carbs creep up on you….. Here in NZ we are (hopefully) coming out of winter now but the last 2 or 3 months I have become a bread monster! Time to get a grip ! Thanks Liz for your words of wisdom!
I rarely buy milk chocolate now ( I do love it but that’s the problem!) & have been having a couple of squares of 85% dark chocolate daily instead for ages now. Started off with 70% then worked up & now I find 70% tastes too sweet. OH likes 90% but that’s a step too far for me & he did try 100% recently - as you say Liz that’s hardcore! I don’t eat a lot of bread but I heard that freezing it &/or toasting it is better than straight out of the pack, something to do with resistant starch & also with potatoes which I only have on Sunday, I do them the day before then put them in the fridge, then reheat. It’s said to help reduce the blood sugar spike. The Glucose Goddess has some useful tips.
I have cut carbs and lost over a stone in 7 weeks, I feel amazing, the low fat diets never worked for me. I wish I had done it years ago. Love watching your you tube videos ☺️ Thankyou
I boil a batch of eggs on Sunday or Monday so there in the fridge to grab for breakfast or brunch. My routine is lemon in warm water first, to wake up my system. Followed by apple cider vinegar in water and and an egg.
This is very helpful. I can’t cut carbs completely, but will work on consuming less of it . 1 slice of whole wheat instead of 2. Less rice with dinner, etc.
Thank you, Liz. This is great common senseget so frustrated that women of our mature years do not realise how important it is to get the correct amount of good nutrients.
I don't know if it's a coincidence but when I've cut right down on carbs I suffer from insomnia. Is it just a coincidence or is there something I can do to stop the insomnia, as nothing is more likely to drive me back to eating too many carbs than a bad night's sleep!
Some report this happening when they cut right down on carbs so you may want to reduce slowly or not so drastically ❤️ Thanks, Rachel (social media manager)
Brilliant, thanks so much for that information as I am trying to cut down on carbs. Are oats OK I do like porridge and make my own granola and museli but tend to have them alernative days now with eggs or yoghurt instead xx
Thank you , I’ve just read all Tim Spector books, Glucose Goddess and Ultra processed people and I think my head is about to explode 🤯 so thank you for easy simple options ❤
Probably! You could try adding in protein with greek yoghurt or a protein powder and fats such as a nut butter or seeds to help slow down the glucose spike and keep you fuller for longer ❤️
Just a quick question,I had kidney cancer five years ago and was told after my nephrectomy op to cut down protein to about 6 oz a day…so if I cut carbs too what do I do to fill up my plate?
