How I Cut The Octopus Layered Haircut 

Hi! I gave myself this haircut yesterday and absolutely love it. It was so easy and only took about 10 minutes. I have thick, wavy hair so this style is my absolute favorite. Thanks for posting!!

I did this haircut on my 2 1/2 year old daughter with her curly hair, and it was magical! Such a great cut for her hair and I love that it still is long enough to braid and put up.

It’s a great throw back to the 70’s…love the simplicity of the haircut! Can’t wait to try it :)

Best looking octopus haircut I've seen so far!

I love your approach to the front of this cut. Most of the 'octopus' cuts I'm seeing have 'shag fringe' and I don't like that look with my features. The length you chose seems much more distinct and really set this style apart, in my opinion.

Nice one Matt. I would divide bridal ridge into 8 alternate sections; center guide section cut with trirazor, and work a graduated A-line down to front.

This was already a style from the 90's - early 2000's. If you could cute everyone I WOULD LOVE it. But others I have seen have not looked as good. Also it is really a lot like the long shag just longer. But you did a beautiful job, so yes I think your customers would ❤ it!

Love this hair cut your style for yhis is Awesome. Personally I have only had a smooth hair style a couple times in my life. I've always had shoulder length to long hair, various styles. Once I had my hair cut by a man stylist who went to Vidal Sassoon Hairstyles School once a year for the latest techniques. I've never just said ok give me the latest long style which is what he wanted to do. The cut was almost identical to the Octopus, I was like "oh my gosh it's too Wild for me" I was late 30s. He said "It's Perfect". My family went crazy, they screamed the minute they saw me. All the men sent their wives and girfriends to get the haircut. All I had to do was put some large curls in my hair, turn my head upside down and shake it, a little spray. WOW

There’s seven haircuts. This is just a Layered shag…….also…… didn’t want to straitened it so we could really see what the cut looked like ? Cuz……. We all know how a rubber band brings the hair in unnaturally. But you didn’t let us see that did you. Well as I say it’s always easy to hide mistakes with curls. Cosmetologist 23 yrs.
