I am a CIS, white, middle age woman (also another Brissie native) who has watched your videos for ages because of your clothes and make up reviews. This video has really made me think. My best friend (for literally the last 50 - yes 5 0 years) is trans & homophobic. I used to think that I would cut her out of my life doesn't accept my gay son when she finds out, but now I think I'm not truly being a LGBTQIA+ ally if I don't speak up now. Annalise, you are an amazing person and being openly lesbian on the internet is so brave and thank you for making me think about how I can be a better ally - for you, my son and anyone else who needs it. As a 43-year-old, I know I'm ancient! Over the past two years, I've realized that I am ace partly due to chemical imbalances in my brain and partly because I don't care who likes me. I love how gay you are!! It's wild how much things have seemingly changed. I am not that much older than Annalise, but when I was growing up, it was okay to call someone a f*ggot at school. There was no consequences. And staying in the closet until high school ended was the most important thing ever. There wasn't anything cool about being gay. It wasn't a beautiful thing. It was a danger. It was something you'd wish every single day would just disappear and go away. The fact that it's kinda cool now blows my mind. That said, I don't think attitudes have changed that much. People are just no longer allowed to say hateful things. Guardrails and protections have been put in place systemically. Bu the feelings still exist...

i remember your coming out video! i was a baby bisexual (now a lesbian) lol and you inspired me SO MUCH! you were honestly the first femme lesbian i had ever seen and i cannot express enough how much that altered my brain chemistry and encouraged me to come out myself. ❤️❤️

I am on the aroace spectrum, and tried so hard to find an exact label for myself. After months of trying, I was just like "forget this, I am who I am, labels don't change who you are' and left it at that. Still in the closet except to random strangers on the internet lol

I came out as bi a few years ago to my parents and my dad wasn't surprised. He reminded me of a time I said a female WWE wrestler was hot in 7th grade. But I still haven't had a relationship with a girl. I've had some hook ups. My last boyfriend really turned me off men so my settings are only women at this time lol

My brother came out when I was 8years old... and I hated him.... the guy he brought over was his partner, I was just so upset back then only due to someone we really hated in the family....plus he had a super beautiful gf and it was just a huge shock... but it didn't take me long to really like his partner... I am now in my 30's and my brother and I have the strongest brother and sister friendship only sad thing is his now dating someone that's in the closet and classes him as a friend to his family even though they have been together for I think 8 or 9 years....

I should have followed your advice when I found out I'm ace. But I was so excited to know there was nothing wrong with me and that there are other people like me in the world that I immediately came out to my friends on the first occasion I had and their reaction was so underwhelming it hindered me from coming out again to anyone else for a long time. They said they didn't believe me, because I've always liked men (I'm not aromantic so, duh 🙄) and I make a lot of dirty jokes and they basically implied that i was just pretending to be ace just to look special and different. We're still friends but after trying a few more times I don't bring up the topic anymore and I'm pretty sure they still think it was just something I had made up on the whim of the moment
