Beneath all the success, Greg was harboring a life-long secret and in 2006, Greg transitioned to Gina. Little did she know that those who knew and loved Greg, endured the death of her former self, as she became the person she was always meant to be.
Gina Duncan has lived a life of extremes as a father, brother, son, husband and successful business executive to her new life as a national and international LGBT advocate and corporate trainer. Gina was born Greg Pingston and lived as a man for 40 years. Greg was a standout football player in high school and college, and was a Regional Manager at Wells Fargo.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Gina, I don,t judge a person by their gender, appearance or affluence but simply by their kindness and humanity. On these 2 you score top marks with me. All the best.

The unfathomable ramifications and complexities of achieving authenticity and Truth in personal identification and relationships are beyond my comprehension. To love my neighbor as I love myself has proven to be an incredibly difficult minefield for me to navigate! Gina Duncan, I want to personally add my expression of appreciation and thanks for daring such a personal illustration. Through my own furtive steps of transition and hearing of yours and others, I hope I'm properly learning my lessons of grace, mercy, compassion, forgiveness and love. Thank you so much!

i came out the other day to my wife of 39 years of marriage. She was very understanding and supportive of the problem that I had been suppressing for 50 years. When we finished our 2 hour talk she told me that I support you now but not sure about who I will feel in the future. I was devastated I am now waiting for the day that she leaves me and you know what I totally understand.

How did it work out? I lost my marriage and family over transitioning, but I'm now a complete person while all those people I lost, I just see as bigots, hypocrites and hoarders.

...FYI: i'VE BEEN NOTICING LATELY THAT ALMOST ALL OF THE RU-vid VIDEOS ARE RECORDED AT SUCH A LOW AUDIO VOLUME LEVEL, THAT I CAN BARELY HEAR IT!!!! SO, I JUST ORDERED A SET OF EXTRA SPEAKERS, FOR MY LAPTOP! I MAY HAVE TO ALSO RUN IT INTO A GUITAR AMPLIFIER, IF THAT IS NOT ENOUGH.! I'M "VERY AGGRAVATED" BY THIS CHRONIC PROBLEM!!!

So this might be answer to why we go trough amnesia when we are born in a new life ! So we get ' clean slate' and be who ever we chose to be in that life ! Cool :) . You don't realy come as clean slate but you carry your previous lessons and knowledge into new life you create for your self :). Now, we all live lifes as male and as female - so , that part doesn't bug me much , but I always wondered why we don't remember all of our life experiences , but only the one we are currently in ...

*How do you save up for FFS?* Or any surgery? My wife's injuries left us with a 25% cut in pay and huge medical bills. When I finally started to transition it cost me another 25% cut in pay. But I don't get to continue transitioning. I'm still taking the pills, but I must be "Bob" at work. Every time I save some little bit something happens to take it away - medical, car, housing, etc.

Personally, I believe people can be whoever they choose to be. We don't have to accept the identity that people around us and our circumstances gave us because they very often have nothing to do with our real selves. But I honestly have a hard time trying to accept that others should treat myself as the way I perceive myself to be. That's like asking the world to change for you, which - with all due respect - seems kind of selfish and naive to me. I think we all should treat each other with respect and kindness above all, but I don't dare to expect or force people to treat me the way I see myself.
@nickaoke
@nickaoke 3 года назад
@@concerned1 why choosing who you are in an identity level would be a luxury? It's a mindset thing, and it's free.
@nickaoke
@nickaoke 3 года назад
@@concerned1 You're wrong about that, friend. For less than $ 10 bucks you can get yourself a kindle copy of the book Psycho-Cybernetics (by Maxwell Maltz) and get started on that journey of identity shifting.

I think, that it is almost impossilbe for a wife, to accept, that her husband gets a woman after several year of marrriage. It might be like a trauma and therefore experts for trauma treatmant might be needed, to help both partners.
@Krtwells

I agree! People need to be honest about who they are going in to a relationship. I get sick of the self centeredness of the people who dump other people's world's upside down with their "realizations".
@onetwo19

She is lucky. She actually comes across as a woman which is more than I can say for most trans women. They look like men in dresses. Mark my word, one day trans activists will separate trans who afforded facial surgery and those who couldn't (victimes). Those who afforded surgery will be regarded as privileged in the same way white people are.

She/he was meant to be just what was born as. What if we, as what we truely are doesnt really have a gender? And maybe the deep inner inquiry on what or who we are, can be more liberating for others with gender identification conflict than all theese expensive and traumatic operatins? Just a thought...
