Hi Allie. I’m so proud of you for working hard to change your diet. My husband did extensive research about diet when I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Cut out sugar and meat (a little fish) only whole grains, no processed foods, no dairy, lots of leafy greens, and lots of spices too. The cancer had spread to both breasts, both lungs, lymph system and the bones in my pelvis. I had four rounds of chemo, then surgery and monthly hormone treatments. That was seven years ago. I have officially been in remission for six years. I truly believe changing our diet is the reason I’m still alive and have not had a recurrence. What we eat is so important for our health!

That’s too bad! Did you let them know and have them reformulate the prescription? Sometimes they don’t get it exactly right the first go-around. The first prescription my daughter received also wasn’t quite right for her, but she sent another round of photos and her prescriber changed the formula - the second go-around worked like a dream. For me, the first prescription they sent worked and my skin keeps getting better and better (2 years in, my 44 year old self got carded at the grocery store!). My youngest child had such bad acne even Curology wasn’t sure they could help... three months later her skin was completely clear, which was kind of astonishing. Not saying it would absolutely work for every single case, since everyone’s skin is different, people do have allergies and sensitivities etc, but we are 3 for 3 around here, and I’ve recommended it to dozens of customers (I’m in cosmetics and skincare sales in a department store) and have had a lot of customers come back and thank me for the recommendation.

Dr Dray on here does excellent info on drugstore & high end acne help that is actually based on true testing by real doctors not a phony eye catching sentence on makeup etc... [as the Doc says, "we don't ever really test this stuff okay!"]. She's a licensed & practicing Texas doctor not an MUA.

@@EarthIncompatible I wouldn't call them "carb heavy" but I hear what you're saying. However, there's a huge nutritional difference between the carbs in white bread and the carbs in a raw vegetable. Same thing with brown rice and beans. They don't have sugars that spike insulin levels, nor do they have simple carbs that break down into fat. I wish people would recognize that carbs are not just terrible across the board.
@EarthIncompatible
@EarthIncompatible 4 года назад
@@juleswatson8298 I agree there is a nutritional difference, and no not all carbs are created equal. That's why dietary changes have to be done carefully and kept for at least 30 days to see what the effects are. For my autoimmune disease and insulin resistance, I've had to go to 99% carnivore. Most people don't have to go that extreme to heal their bodies, but some of us do. There isn't a one-size-fits-all nutrition.

The only problem is doctors don't have a clue about nutrition quite often. Several seem shocked when I ask them how to find liquid cold medicine without sugar.... they don't realize what a problem it is that sugar is freaking everywhere. Being keto drastically reduces what aisles you should even bother going down. You can forget almost all boxed preserved food. Fermented or pickled is usually good, though. But, totally worth it... keto has absolutely changed my life.

Even in my mid-40’s I’d still break out at least in the week before my period. Now I don’t at all. I eat keto though and that was the first side effect I noticed. My skin glowed and just cleared up. I also had folks tell me I didn’t seem to be aging either. I’ll take it!😁👍🏻

Diet is so interesting to me. My family did keto for 4 months. Lost 25lbs each. But for health reasons we had to quit. I am now on a Flexaterian diet. I now eat whole oats,Brown rice,and other grains in small amounts and not daily. NOT WHEAT. We do not do the high fat foods like keto, But only use plant based fat to cook with and consume Olive Oil and Avacado oil. No animal Milk.We consume Almond milk. Very little cheese.(Weening off it) Lots of Raw green salads with healthy nuts and oils.No sugars except a little Honey and Pure Maple syrup on ocassion. We eat 80% plant based diet. 20% fish,chicken,eggs and turkey .All foods are Organic and hormone free. I have great recipes for pan seared tofu! I am so glad you found something that worked for you that wasn't acutane. My light acne and so called rosecea has cleared up as well but I am also using Diferin. I am 53 and never had acne until my inflammation levels went up.(Around 45) I found out I have psoriatic arthritis. So the high fatand lots of meat diet didn't work for me. Symptoms got worse. I need lots of green food🥰🥑🥬🥒🥦🍏and fruit. I'm gonna check out your new Instagram with hubby!

I have been struggling with severe acne for 10 years before I finally went to a dermatologist. She prescribed antibiotics at first, but my body did not agree with them at all.They made me dizzy and constantly nauseous. So I asked her about accutane and she told me about all the side effects, but I was so desperate that I decided to try it because it has helped my father when he had acne. I have been on it for 10 months and although my acne has been competly cleared up, the side effect that bothered me the most is terrible hair loss. Looking at the amount of hair that I lose everyday I wish I was't so rash and had tried clearing up my diet because Accutane is very expensive in my country. I am incredibly happy for you and your amazing progress ❤❤I have been a subscriber of yours for a very long time and I have noticed your skin getting proggresively clearer and more radiant.I love you ❤❤

I also had chronic acne for years and my turning point was when I realized that: - my face's natural oils were NOT my enemies (I used to used harsh bar soaps with hot water to get rid of them). Now, I go light hand. - oil does NOT equal hydration/moisture. I thought that I have oily skin, I have enough oils ("moisture" as I thought) so I don't need to apply moisturising creams or serums. I was wrong! Basically, when I started treating my skin right, she returned the favor. My skin is the best it has ever been.

@marisolgebe2
@marisolgebe2 4 года назад
@@vi-yeung Accutane always has a % of failing, which manifests in a "relapse" of the acne, and this depends on a lot of factors. My acne was very persistent since I was 12 years old, and got really bad when I turned 14-15, and I tried diets, antibiotics, skin treatments, and pretty much all there was in the market. Honestly, for some people (like me) it was the best option, even considering all the side effects. The second round of Accutane, 2 years later was longer but smaller dosis, and it didn't feel that bad. This treatment kind of accumulates in your system, which is why some people need more rounds to reduce the % of failing. I have had a clear face since then, and I don't take any medicine for 7 years now and no one that I have met recently believes the levels of acne I had, because I didn't scared (thank to Accutane as well). So given my experience it was a good decision, but perhaps a doctor can help you decide if its a good strategy for you.

I’ve been taking spironolactone for my hormonal acne and it’s worked really well for me! I got really dizzy at first too, but my body got used to it. I rarely get breakouts now! I’ve also been taking a symbiotic, using ceraVe products and keeping skincare super simple! So glad you found something that works :)

How long did it take for you to see results?? I’ve been taking it for about 3 months and it’s helped a ton but still not totally clear. I think spiro is awesome and like you said, your body has to adjust because of the diuretic effect

@@zoean3002 I started off taking 50mg and it was making me dizzy so i stopped taking it lol. I talked to my dermatologist and she upped it to 100mg and thats made me feel a lot better and im seeing results! it probably took about 3 months for me to see results too. I also started using the CeraVe SA face wash with the nightly moisturizer with ceramides and those have REALLY helped my skin out! Good luck to you :)

I have also struggled with hormonal acne, and it was my dermatologist who has transformed my skin. Sometimes it just takes finding the right one :) I have begun a healthier lifestyle, but I have not cut out carbs, sugar, or dairy, so for those of you reading these comments, don't give up hope! Spironolactone was a major game changer for me! It did make me dizzy the first week, and again after I upped the dose, which is because it is a medication used to treat high blood pressure. However, your body will adjust, and now I have no side effects from it. My dermatologist has also prescribed quite a few creams, including moisturizers (another game changer). It took a few months, but I now have the best skin of my life! Patience and consistency are key! Allie, I am so glad you have found what works for you!

Thank you for sharing Allie! I could definitely relate to the part about getting into makeup because of having poor skin! When I started wearing makeup, some people would ask me why I started wearing makeup and I was so embarrassed to say that it was because I had acne I wanted to cover 😭 I think the most important thing I took from this video was to not lose hope and that there is a solution out there for everyone! I have been watching you for about a year and a half now, and I have seen your skin transform! I really agree with fixing the issue from the inside out! Changing your habits is so important!

Omega 3 fatty acids are excellent and I completely agree, BUT, if you are going to take cod oil please make sure it is molecularly distilled and ideally from the subcutaneous fat rather than from the liver. The reason is that our seas are contaminated, and fish ingest a lot of heavy metals that accumulate in the liver particularly. Don’t let this deter you from Omega 3, it really is excellent, just please take molecularly distilled, non-liver derived capsules.

I had a bad reaction to Spironalactone as well. It made my blood pressure very low and it messed with that time of the month as well. I was all over the place taking it. I stopped it and feel so much better, but continue to struggle with acne. I’ve been thinking about what could be going on internally for a little while now and this video was the push I needed to take the leap. Thank you!!! ❤️

It was a blood pressure medicine originally and is still used for that as well. I have no problem with it, but it did make me a little dizzy for the first few days. It sounds like you may have been started on too high of a dosage to begin with. Doctors are supposed to start with only 5 mg and build up, but some do not and it causes side effects. It is a very safe drug and is also used for hairloss in women.

I'm glad someone in the beauty community is talking about this. About 2 months into Keto my skin cleared up completely. My acne was on my jaw line, neck and upper back. I had cysts, little tiny clusters, regular pimples all mixed together. Now it's all gone! I have now been strictly Keto for 9 months (mix of healthy and "dirty" as I try to figure out meals and what not). I will also say that on the day that I gave in and did a non -Keto cheat dinner (burger with the works, fries, and a giant slice of Oreo cheesecake) I had a major breakout that literally lasted an entire week new pimples every day (face, back AND chest). Non-keto cheat days are not worth it, to say the least 😅 Now, somehow the hard part is going to be transitioning my channel from Vegan to Keto🙄 (really just bracing for the hate!). Thank you for sharing your experience, Allie!

I love that you healed your body from the inside out! Well done Allie! I also wanted to make mention for anybody considering spironolactone: I am currently on it and it is the only thing that has helped my acne. I've tried multiple antibiotics in the past, and there were all side effect with no help to my skin. Spironolactone is actually a blood pressure medicine, which is why the first dose can make you feel light headed, but after that first day or two it goes away. Antibiotics are not healthy long term, but spiro doesn't have the negative long term effects that antibiotics or accutane does. I also live a very healthy lifestyle, I eat tons of fresh vegetables, drink lots of water, ingest probiotics, don't eat dairy or red meat, and I take all the vitamins you've listed (plus others) and I exercise rigorously 5 days a week. I've been doing this for years, and ever since moving to Utah my acne popped up out of nowhere in my adult life. Halo helped take away redness but Spiro is the first thing that's given me the confidence to not wear makeup and to have pain free skin. If you have acne and you've had a similar life path to me, please consider talking to your doctor.

So happy that you have found a multifaceted program to clear your skin. I have systemic lupus so skin issues are a big thing for me. The sun gives me bumps(not pimples but an allergic reaction that if picked at can morph into a blemish), melasma and just a general stew of different reactions to the sun, heat, lack of humidity. Then cancer treatments made my skin go nuts so its hard to manage issues. I think you hit on something huge that a lot of us miss and that's our diet. What triggers my issues may be fine for someone else's skin and vice versa. So glad you addressed this because those of us who have been here for a minute have noticed how clear & glowy your complexion has been. So very happy for you. 👏👏👏👍🤗❤

So happy for you Allie! I’m 57 years old next week. I started to battle some acne again after being acne free for years because I’m wearing a full face of makeup daily. I know it’s the makeup, but I’m hooked because I love the way it looks! I scaled back on a few things and only wear on special occasions like highlighter and bronzer. Yes the ones I have break me out. I also now use Clinique Acne Solutions foundation. So far so good! But I’ve been on accutane, antibiotics you name it when I was in my 20s and 30s! You mentioned multiple times about “balancing your hormones” and I’d love to hear you go more in depth. Would that be balancing estrogen/testosterone? Or something different?
@saraopsomer598
@saraopsomer598 4 года назад
Ksenya Matveev Insuline is also a hormone (produced by the pancreas). The body needs to make insuline to work away sugars that we eat. So if you think logically, the more sugars we eat, the more insuline our body needs to produce. More sugar = more hormones = hormonal imbalance. That's the logic I have now discovered (and I had never thought of it this way before). I have also always thought that, when people speak about a hormonal imbalance it would be estrogene and testosteron. Though apperently, our body consists of so many more hormones. (please note I am not a doctor but I figured this out on my own and still seems logical to me)
