I take vitamin a, zinc and b5. It has done wonders for clearing cystic acne. Even when I start to get a pimple beneath or above the skin, it either shrinks super quick or the next day it's gone. I def think I've been deficent in these vitamins/minerals because of how quickly my skin started to clear up.
Hey, are you still suffering from bad acne? I used to suffer from severe acne and I share how I cleared it. There is no quick fix and to be honest, I truly know how it feels to feel hopeless with it. I share my experience and I truly hope it helps you. x
I can relate bro, but even though teen years sucked for us both you can forget about that and live the rest of you life with being confident about yourself. “What matters is what you can have, NOT what you’ve had in the past”
I dealt with acne for years, tried everything and eventually went to an acne bootcamp. There they showed me what to eat and what type of products to use. It took a lot of patience and dedication but it worked. It IS about what you eat and what you put in your face. 2 yrs into going organic and switched to clean products, i am finally acne free. Don’t give up guys, changing how you eat won’t fix the problem in 2-4 weeks, it takes time.
Personally I've found that toxins in food were a major contributor to my acne. Even a small amount of conventional animal products or glyphosate can wreak total havoc on my skin. Switching to an organic diet improved the situation tremendously.
i tried nearly everything untill Acutane. its the only thing that fixed my really bad skin...ive been on the ketogenic diet for about 35 days and it has made my skin glow...its amazing....thanks dr
sandra g Honestly it is very harsh, I'd agree that it is extremely hard on your body and mind. but as a teen going into my early 20s nothing got rid of my acne enough to were I could I guess take care and control it. been keto now for about 2-3 months and have lost 11kgs and my skin hasn't broken out at all.. yes I have oily skin but for some reason they are not creating any acne.
Hi Will F, I went on accutane about 9 years ago. My acne has just started coming back slowly about 6 months ago. One of the side effects from accutane which seriously affected me was hair loss (very very thin hair) and arthritis (sooo much lower back pain and knee pain). Like you, in my early 20's I didnt have much of choice-which is why my dermatologist recommended accutane. My question to you is, did you suffer any side effects from accutane that were long lasting like me? Also, how many years has it been since accutane? I heard it eventually always comes back even after a decade. Accutane doesn't truly heal anyone of their acne just suppress it. But thanks for sharing about the Keto Diet- I'll def look into it!
Haleen B I'm literally about to take my last pill of Accutane tomorrow. My skin has made a vast improvement however I know Accutane isn't forever because my best friend is thinking about taking it again. As for me I've made a lifestyle change in the six months of taking Accutane I'm eating a lot better and working out every day. My hope is that my lifestyle change will affect my face for the better so I will no longer be dependent on antibiotics. As for the cons I've noticed knee pain too especially since I'm working out, my lower back hurt for a certain period of time but then it went away, and one more weird thing I got a wrinkle across my forehead because my skin is so dry i'm 20 so that bothered me lol.
This is the best RU-vid channel I've ever came across what an amazing human being thank you for helping so many people by giving them the right and he most helpful information
I agree with this , i had a really bad breakout recently , i went to my dermatologist he gave me tretotoin gel to apply , and i was over using products and stuff not working long term, so i decided to stop all the products and did the bare minimum when washing my face , and went on a plant based diet for a whole week , no dairy , no sugar . Took omega 3 fish oil. Kale was my number veggie i had in every meal. My acne literally shriveled up. It was the quickest my acne ever healed. So now i know the root cause of my acne , i got tired of trying to combat it on the surface. I will be doing a youtube video soon on my journey
This is excellent advice. Please also look into alpha lipoic acid for cleansing the liver. And turmeric. Also omega 3's. I accidentally cured my acne when I moved overseas and began walking to and from work every day and lost weight (had no car) and had no access to soy milk, or soy "meat products" which I'd relied on pretty heavily, and I also consumed way less sugar.
@saintquinn007 Agreed. Spinach is a redundant inclusion. All it will create is an oxalate buildup in the body and cause kidney stones. However, I wouldn't be too concerned if you're not consuming it with great regularity. Just be cautious and understand its harm.
The only solution that healed my acne on my cheeks and chin was by cutting out dairy. Surprisingly cutting out dairy regulates my hormone and periods as well. that then I did intermittent fasting and kale juicing that got rid of forehead acne.
Erin Guo the exact opposite happend to me I cut out dairy all of a sudden my clear forehead just starts breaking out in small pimples but many of them. I doubt it was the dairy but I really don’t think the things you eat contribute to your acne (excessively)
@jacob.j.rybnikar AG Stepanska try MSM (methylsulfonyl methane) which is organic sulfur internally and externally (in an hydrosol for example hamamelis as it's astringent).
The problem is what you are eating in many cases creating a reaction that goes to your skin. Wheat bread causes allergies too. And so many people don’t know that it and pasta is a no no for some people. Also if you want to clear your sinuses cut out the bread in your diet you should see improvement. I have always hated Cod liver oil. My mom tried to camouflage its taste with an orange slice. I will test it.
Pray for my daughter, she only 13 and she don't want to go anywhere with her friends or family on event. She hide herself in her room because of it. Please pray and hope her acne will go away.
I took Accutane when I was in high school and pretty sure it messed me up... Acne went away but it dried my skin out so incredibly bad and your joints hurt. My skin peeled like I had a sunburn. Now as an adult the acne has come back.
You probally have hormonal acne, get a blood test of what your missing. Usally around 50 percebt of prople who take accutane in high school has to do another round when they are 21 and up because your hormonals still go crazy frim like the age 12 until 21/22 years old and slowly start to relax. (Unless you have at least 1 or both of yoyr parebts that have acne at an old age ) then maybe accutane can work when you are an adult plus vitamins and minerals
After over a decade if fighting with acne, i even went on accutane. Accurane kinda worked, but acne returned. Eliminating sugar & highly processed carbs has stopped all breakouts completely.
Great video! I went on accutane only 3 months for mild but persistent acne. It clearned my skin and pores completely, but it came right after I stopped taking it. My acne isnt as bad but in reverse it gave me bad chest acne :( I have definitely symptoms of high androgen levels I will try your methods. I also would like to add that another cause of "acne" look can be fungus - candida, yeast, mucus. Im taking my food intolerance tests soon to see if i can find my acne triggers too. Good luck everyone out there !
I took cod liver oil for 3 months under these recommendations for my acne. My acne got 10 times worse, I had acne places I didn’t have before. Then I ran out. And my acne is all better now. All I have now is hyperpigmentation. So beware of cod liver oil.
Had roaccutane and it is the worst, my body cannot fight against "infections" anymore, every year I have some kind of weird infection, blood test every year, birth control, nobody knew its prolonged side effects, had it on and off for 10 years, over its capacity, it did help a bit but once I stopped it all came back... I stopped, and I changed my diet and it helped so much! Now I am trying to go as natural as possible...
Great Advice, over many years of practicing as an aesthetician I finally got to know much more about acne and how to read the signs. This advice especially regards Dim is spot on(sorry about the pun) and fast acting. Along with all the other advice this podcast is really a great help if you suffer from acne.
I had terrible breakouts, took accutane. it works for me like a miracle, within a week of taking it I see my skin clearing up. I did had minor nose bleed from it, cause it was too dry, but thats the point..
Topical creams work!!! I'm using finnacea and clindamycin! It's also getting rid of acne scars. Expensive stuff will run you about 500 for both but so worth it if your face is in pain like mine was
I used clyndamycin too , it works , but when i skip my daily routine and without applying clyndamycin , a pimple will show itself anywhere in my face , damn life sucks if u have acne prone skin
It depends on the causes. In this video Dr. mostly focused on the inner causes. But what if a person suffers from yeast infection or demodex mites? Well, try to boost your immune system while applying natural antibacterial oils, such as tea tree oil. Also mixture of jojoba oil and rosehip oil can make magic to your hyperpigmentation as well as whiteheads. But if it's a fungal acne(tiny little skin colored bumps, mostly on your forehead and cheeks ) try to apply a thin layer of any anti-dandruff shampoo on your face twice a day, keep it for 10 minutes then rinse it off with water. (in my case I used nizoral 2% shampoo, it helped in just a week.) why am I saying any anti-dandruff shampoo? Just because all of them have an active ingredient ketoconazole, that kills the fungus on your skin.
@@Beniliayt at any pharmacy (and also, if u have fungal acne, try to avoid any oil containing creams, and oils in general, cause the fungus feeds on that, as well as on your sebum) hope that helps
This help for acne, eliminate any sugars and dairy from your diet, drink enough water, cleanse your face with a gentle face wash like cerave ,use the ordinary niacinamide, incorporate a vitamin c in your routine, take supplements like zinc and niacin , use sun protection, and don’t stress 👍
I started having acne at 13 and here I am at 74.......still battling acne. It was diagnosed about 35 years ago as rosesha (wrong spelling), but that's not what it is. Thank you Dr. Berg. I'll try what you advise. Oh, one of my grandchildren accused me of taking illegal drugs to cause acne. That was so embarrassing.
Thank you so much for the in depth information about what causes acne. I am 56 and went into early menopause at 40. I suffer tremendously from hot flushes (even with HRT) weight gain and hormonal acne (mostly around the chin area). I did have adult acne until. 31 and took Accutane for a year which cleared up the problem for 10 years until menopause set in. I was also very petite until menopause but have gained a lot of weight in my hips, thighs and lower belly (with cellulite). My HRT was Angelique (I'm from South Africa so I don't know if it is only available here). With the pandemic Angelique is no longer available and my Dr prescribed a HRT that has devastating side effects such as more weight gain, emotional outbursts etc. My acne got worse. (I should mention that I had a thyroidectomy about 5 years ago and am taking thyroid meds as well). Of course people treat symptoms and not the causes of issues and I'm also on anti depressants and acid reflux meds - perfect storm right? 😊 Anyway I did some research, cut out the HRT and started taking DIM a week ago. Massive improvement in my skin, but it makes me break out in this terrible rash on my legs and stomach area. I don't know if that is as a result of detoxification? I'm not taking liver supplements so I am going to get that this week based on your presentation. Am I right to leave the HRT (I haven't had a hysterectomy)? Luckily it's winter here so I don't have the hot flushes so much, more like a raised body temperature. What about the DIM and the rash? Is there something I can take in addition to the liver supplement?
Acne problem can be reduce by avoiding food containing hot chili. If you are having problem with it just avoid it at all cost for a month, and you can see the difference.some how the fumes from the chili can irritate the the open lesion and cause it worse.
Just got my Cod Liver Oil, B Complex, and Zinc supplements today! Will report back whether or not they helped in two or three months. :D Had moderate to severe acne for 11 years now, hoping this is it! I've known I had a DHT problem for years, because a few years ago I took DIM, spearmint, and Saw Palmetto to control Estrogen and Testosterone, and they had no effect on my acne! (The SP made me feel queazy daily..) I also took Pueraria Mirifica for hair, nails and skin a year ago. It's super estrogenic, perhaps too estrogenic! I could only take it for the first half of my cycle lest I experience spotting! Despite that, I felt fine, and my acne got no worse or better from the extra estrogen. That only leaves DHT. Decreasing Testosterone could decrease DHT, but it'll also decrease Estrogen. I'm pretty sure I need both my T and E. I also have excess body hair, and my doctor thinks I may have PCOS. I'm not sure if I do though. My cycle is incredibly regular, just a little long. And I don't experience much pain, maybe only on the first day of menses. Either way, Imma see about trying out the advice about Insulin. My family has a history with diabetes, so perhaps I should anyway.
I have been dealing with acne for about 3 years now, been to many doctors they have all just given me a cream to use and thats it. Nothing ever helps after all this years of treatment I have yet to see an improvement and honestly i have just given up.
well the real question is "why are you producing too much androgens", May be we all know that if we stop doin that, then we'll end having a better life, but thats something u can't resist🤣😂
Hello, I will say right away that I do not know English so sorry for the mistakes (Google translate). I have a problem with combination skin ... T zone is very oily ... The main problem is the blackheads closed on the forehead and lower jaw, but sometimes acne appears. Will the problems go away a little with cod liver oil, vitamin b5, zinc and nettle leaf extract? I cannot take isotretinoin because of my own health condition. Please reply. Regards
If your insulin is low and you have enough acid to absorb the vitamins than you should do well taking those. I take extra version cod liver oil and it helped my skin out
I don't have acne but simple pimples that come and go, but lately I've started to notice that lots of people have acne scars, and even tho my advice won't help, just run to a dermatologist quickly before it spreads like a tumor.
I never had an acne problem until my later years. This infection was on my nose. I had a Waterpik which I used on my teeth. I experimented on using it on my nose to clean the pores. IT WORKED !!! You MUST use distilled water because tap water or even purified water has particles in the water. You don't need to drive the particles into your skin. This will only make matters worse. TRUST ME.
Thank you for your informative videos. I'd like to request dosages when it matters. While zinc is great for the immune system, I've heard that a high dose can mess with it. I do 25-20mg. Also, aren't certain forms better than others?
Celery juice in the morning every day 👍🏽 and lots of fruit and vegetables, stay away from dairy and processed sugar foods for a while, your acne will clear right up.
How do you know which type of acne you have? androgen or estrogen? I have tried everything you mentioned about estrogen induced acne. Been following your advice strictly for two months and I have seen very little improvement. :( I do believe acne is caused by hormonal imbalances but sadly your advice hasn't helped me.
I got less acne by : At least 6 hrs of sleep. Eat fruits and vege more while avoiding oily food Do some exercise body workout like push up jogging and such. My personal remedy before leeping is applying baby powder, it absorbed excess oil coming from skin face. In the morning wash face with cleanser.
Sums up most medicine around the world. Including the Indian version^. Functional medicine is the future. Eastern medicine including Chinese uses timeless medicinal herbs yes but their health outcomes aren’t any better than western populations.
@@csberry3576 there are a few types of vitamin B. You don't want to overdose, it can cause headaches, even death if you don't know what you're doing. But, it's okay to try it. Just research how much.
There s a very small chance it comes back after accutane so i guess my luck it s really bad because it came back worse than before After the pill is normal to come back anyway because it s not a permanent addition of hormones I would never recomand accutane to anyone and it was all for nothing:))
I swear if you cut out all oils/fats from you diet including nuts and avocados you’ll have clear skin in a matter of a month, 2 months max. Listen the Dr Mcdougall about acne. I had severe acne and tried absolutely everything, this was the only thing that worked. I even took accutane and my acne returned after a very short while. Much love from Saudi Arabia
A good doctor is the one who would share knowledge and advice without really caring of making a gain from it Thank you SO much dr. Berg for being so selfless and helpful ❤️
Only 10 reported cases of blindness caused by accutane. And accutane does not cause depression, it’s just that most people who take accutane tend to be depressed (because they have acne!) before going on it in the first place! Correlation does not equal causation!
So I’m dealing with acne my whole life and I watched over hundreds of videos about skin care , acne etc. And trust me THIS is the most informative and instructive video I’ve ever seen about acne. Everything he talked about (PCOS, Insulin etc etc ) is medically correct and explained so well. Really appreciate videos like this!!
If you're skipping lectures I wouldn't want you to touch my pet or inject me or operate on me -same goes for you paying some1 to do your homework or tests
Bro I have a big bump of a acne and it disappeared then it came back and I have another one on my side of my forehead and it's hella big. I had one on my head causing me to have a bald spot. I don't know how to get rid of it. People at school always say "why do you have that?" And they'll always make fun of me and now that it came back I'm sure they're gonna do it again:( so depressing
Cut out gluten, dairy and sugar. Drink 2 litres of water a day. Get a prebiotic/probiotic (beauty chef makes an effective one). Put 5% benzoyl peroxide on blemishes and use Cerave cleanser and moisturizer. You'll be transformed in no time!!

Just cutting out dairy is sometimes not enough. Especially if you're consuming sports products or any snack bars or breads/rolls etc - almost all of which has whey protein (from cow milk) or milk solids - even the healthiest smoothies and shakes can cause acne. You might be thinking you're having the healthiest diet but it depends how your body reacts to it. For instance, if you have high insulin or insulin resistance but dont know about it - an innocent morning smoothie with non-dairy milk and fruits can trigger bad acne because of fructose and sugar in that smoothie. So its really important what you put into your body. Or it could be toxicity of the food, or other hormonal imbalances. Also, it took me 3 months to see improvement in my skin after quitting all dairy products, so it's not an overnight thing. it takes long. Same if I eat something with cow milk - i will break out couple of days later. And I'm not milk intolerant and all of the allergy tests were negative, yet still I react on cows milk. Read Lara Briden's blog on milk and how it triggers acne.
@@SandMonkey I just had a little bit of acne I stopped all dairy workout 5 times per week intensely and I've seen good results. I did use benzolmycin or something like that
VIDEO SUMMARY (note-taking; writing this for people who have difficulty focusing on long videos like this) A. Mistakes 1) Scrubbing your face with cleansers. DON'T SCRUB! 2) Antibiotics. It kills off the good bacteria along with the bad ones, creating evil strains for your skin. 3) Accutane. Too many side effects. Risky. TIP: Find out what's really causing the problem B. Sebaceous Glands Situation #1: Extra tissue being formed. A little flake. Dryness. Situation #2: Plugged pores. Situation #3: Inflammation. Situation #4: Unfriendly bacteria feeding off of the oil called sebum Situation #5: Large gland It's very highly sensitive to hormones, specifically Androgens and Estrogen. It's estrogen-related when: 1) During menstruation, it gets worse. The ovaries pumping out too much estrogen. C. Androgen One form: Testosterone Pumping out too much Androgen produces so much sebum and increases the size of the gland. Causes: puberty, PCOS, menopause Common symptoms for PCOS: hair loss (alopecia), acne, deeper voice What causes PCOS? - High levels of insulin (insulin resistance). - Too much of a certain enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT. One major reason for this is: Vitamin A deficiency. TIP: Take Vitamin A in the form of extraversion cod liver oil. Other Vitamins: 1) B5 - works well with Vitamin A; helps reduce acne, another remedy to solve the "certain enzyme" problem 2) Zinc - powerful for getting rid of acne D. Estrogen Causes: Liver dysfunction (not eliminating the bad estrogen), high blood pressure medications, antibiotics, alcohol, heartburn medications, anti-depressants REMEMBER: These situations may not be isolated from each other. You can have insulin resistance that's causing the liver dysfunction. SOLUTION: Start eating healthier! 1) Cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, kale, garden cress, bok choy, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, mustard plant and similar green leaf vegetables. 2) DIM, a super concentrated version of cruciferous vegetables. 3) Stinging nettle root, a plant.
Some people need milk!! It depends on your D N A!!! Prescribing the same diet for everyone as though we all come from the same mold is incorrect!! People from the Islands or coastal Mediterranean fish, maybe goat, citrus vs. inland Scand may be cow, deer, potatoes, cabbage cruciferous veggies, cows MILK!!! There are humane ways to have milk! But no we dont all fit one diet! Im curious, but i imagine in one form or another all can have nuts!

My daughter had a weird acne that covered her whole face. They were small little dots and an esthetician said it was not regular acne but more like a rash. However, the Dermatologist called it Acne and treated it with retinol and it caused her skin to really break out. Went to an other Dr and he took a urine test. There were 8 bacteria in her urine that stomach acid usually kills and you never see it. He said he stomach acid was too low and when he put her on a regimen of HCL and Pepsin her stomach acid killed the bacteria and he acne disappeared.
This is what pisses me about most doctors. They don’t look at ways to improve the health to lessen the symptoms. They try to use solutions that fixes the problem directly.
Thank you for sharing that info,,,low stomach acid is often a culprit to many ailments. Good to hear how this was resolved at the source as opposed to being sent around the world guessing game/trap .
@RU-vid's Funniest HCL refers to hydrochloric acid. The cells lining the submucosa layer of your stomach secrete HCL continuously. This mixes with other fluids in your stomach to make gastric juice. It is very acidic which helps denature proteins and kill bacteria. It also boosts the enzymatic activity.
In the description it is clearly mentioned that he is a chiropractice doctor and the word doctor is related to the degree only and his educating videos should not be use in medical exam or self diagnosis....so what's the use of these videos if people cannot take any benefit out of it.....this seems so sarcastic.....i am not a hater but this seems hipocratic situation.....!!!
hormonal acne= high insulin (chin and nose) cut down carbs (high glycemic low fibre) intermittent fast longer periods between meals without snacking keto reset diet digestive acne = altered microbiome/ leaky gut (deep cheek and forehead) intermittent fast, spore based probiotics increase fiber eat only plants and animals don't overeat carbs if you get gas you ate too much carbs. if your digestion is optimum and your hormones are balanced you will not get acne. these are the things I've learned from getting acne into my mid 20s hope this helps.
Thank you for this information for everyone. To share my story briefly about acne, i am now struggling with acne for more than a month now for the first time. I have always had clear skin and usually i only get 1 or 2 pimples before my period but my acne this time didnt even start at that period. And as i invrstigated on this, i theorized that it might have been caused by my chronic stress recently (4 months of heavy duty at a project with overtime. I felt so stressed and acted bipolar over time. So I resigned from my job to heal myself. ) that might have destroyed the good bacteria in my gut microbiome (it wasnt only on my face btw, it was all over my body too. My arms were covered in red bumps. In retrospect, i might have been having an autoimmume response.) So i decided to take some yoghurt, and it honestly worked like a miracle. After eating 1/2 cup of plain yoghurt flavored with some cocoa powder and honey, i noticed my acne didnt feel inflamed anymore. Theyre still there but they dont hurt when you touvh them. So now i eat yoghurt regularly. My acne is still here but not as bad as prior to taking probiotics.
This is not the case for everyone. I get more acne if I est very low carb. Also, my acne clears up in the summer, so longer daylight and more sun does something good for me.
Apart from diet advice...Changing my routine to a Korean-style skincare regimen with a low ph foaming cleanser that better reflects the ph of healthy human skin helped me. I highly recommend cleansers that are close to a ph of 5.5

I’m an Esthetician and everything this guy is saying is true. We need to fix it internally first. That’s where the problem starts. Topical stuff is great but what goes on inside our bodies def shows on the outside. Plus Accutane is so bad for your body. 👍🏽
But what do you tell your client when she takes vitamins (always have), doesn’t have any hormonal problems, has tried everything with the dermatologist (laser), and every cream from the pharmacy makes it worse to the point I’ve been prescribed to Roaccutane. How do you deal with it in any other way? Sometimes there are not many things left to do. I was really sceptical starting Roaccutane regarding every video, article and study I've read but I simply cannot keep going with every cream doctors suggest me without realising how sensitive my skin is (and I don't have any idea why the creams from the pharmacy not only don't work for me but made me a lot worse)
Luna Volin I cut out dairy and limited my sugar and I stuck to products for sensitive skin. I am also of colour and can’t use a lot on my face since a lot of things can burn me. The last thing I needed was to get burned. I have been following two dermatologist on RU-vid and they have a lot of great things to say.
@@alice3548 I get it, because I experience the same reaction, and I am happy that it is working for you. The thing is I am vegan, and I don't use sugar for years now. I followed dermatologists I went to a couple, the only thing that has worked for me, that I haven't had a reaction to it, is Paula’s Choice liquid exfoliant. Even though I have super sensitive skin, it worked, and it's the one that I can put without causing me more sensitivity and irritation. My dermatologist, however, told me it's too harsh, and shouldn't use it. She prescribed me a cream from the pharmacy. It made my skin four times worse, and I am not even exaggerating, she was surprised, and she told me to try another one. It didn't make me much worse, but it didn't make me better either, and they both were for sensitive skin. Because I had a second bad experience, I am taking Roaccutane now. Sometimes things don't work, my skin has an irritation to everything from the pharmacy specifically, I started using my Paula’s Choice again, for a while, and it did some damage control, but I can't say after everything I read and everything that I saw that I regret starting the pill, simply because I cannot have a roller coaster experience with my skin for months, while I am seeing a dermatologist and especially when it makes me much worse. It is overwhelming, and all the pills have side effects so you should be careful, but if it gives me a fresh start I am here for it, simply because I cannot keep going to a dermatologist, and come back only worse, because of the products they prescribed me.
@@iouliatsitanava2931 I have been there (I got mine as an adult/hormones messed up due to pcos mainly). My advice is to cut out/decrease long period of time dairy & processed refined sugars. Dilute with 2/3 or half whatever your preference water and apple cider vinegar using a pad/cotton ball put on the affected area. You can do this with lemon juice and part water as well. The acids kill the bacteria and clear your skin. If skin sensitive dilute more or do it at night/every other
