A common question I receive is "What do you use for your finishes?".
While the finish is relative to the wood type, my most commonly used is Acrylic Urethane from Ilva. It is an activated system, like automotive clear coat, but is formulated for wood.

Jonathan, I make them from metal using a bandsaw, lathe, and milling machine. I was a machinist before making art.

Nice work. I use a cheap nylon pop up porta potty tent with a hole cut in the back for box fan and filter as my spray booth for small items. Seems to work pretty good.

Danke für die klare Information. Zu schade dass ich Ilva in Deutschland nicht kaufen konnte. - PS: I Love Your Work!

That was hugely valuable as someone who is trying to get better at applying finishes. As I move from building less other type items and more sculptures applying finish is becoming much more critical. Thanks! I am a big fan and follower of your work!

I am a 79-year-old woman who would love to work learn more about creative work I started on a root of a rose bush that I pulled out of my apartment patio. As I kept looking at it I love the way it looked. I didn't know what I was going to do with it but I did it. I am not nearly as good as you are you are fantastic. But I'm very interested in some of your techniques with super glue etc. I recently have been trying to use those rose roots to use as a holder for air plants. I've been working on it for 2 years. I pick it up every now and again and mess with it again with some other different tool or sandpaper. Thank you for listening to me

I do that same thing with projects. Many of them are around me for years until I see the next step in their creation!

Beautiful to look at as always, but using headphones I find it quite bothersome when the audio is only on one speaker randomly (3:51-8:24). Here the left audio actually has a slight high pitch bleep as well. You can see the left and right audiostripes in most video editing softwares and can make sure that both have proper audio. Helps growing the channel and potential customer base. Does the sealer change the look of the wood compared to the urethane or is the end effect the same regardless?

I appreciate the feedback. I recorded it using an old Samsung S4 and the audio clips when using loud tools, so I'll never use it again after your issue. Thank you! The sealer has no visual effect that I can see on the sculpture but in liquid form it is hazy or white like coconut milk. The 100 sheen sculpture pictured at the end of video has 3 heavy coats of vinyl sealer (followed by sanding) before finishing. It has great color and luster.
